Build the engine with high compression lightweight pistons, ~13:1 lightweight flywheel etc. Then put in on E85! After that the engine will make all the power, easily over 200 maybe even creeping up on the 250 mark.
@@fcpeuro If you wanna squeeze some power out of it, Scimec Motor in Norway should be able to supply cams, pistons and such. The dude is amazing at tuning Volvo 5 cyls, Volvo 16v, Volvo 8v both N/A and turbo.
The custom equal length header looks sick!! Im guessing your keeping this p80 chassis estate Naturally Aspirated? Can you explain your reasoning for staying n/a ? My bad if i missed an episode explaining either question.
The plan is to keep it N/A all the way, just like the original BTCC Estate - this project isnt/wont be about high HP, instead simple, raw, throw back vibes.
Yes, what VOLVO did to get BTCC winning power was rather involved - like cutting up the heads and moving the camshafts so they could get better valve and port angles...
The ECU comes from Hell Moose Performance, but as far as I know this ECU is not for sale anymore, I myself am one who is waiting to be able to order for my T5.
Yea it will definitely make a bit more power. With the better all around exhaust system you’re gonna need more fuel or at least prevent the engine from going too lean.
@@obsoletemachinery oh and a lot of people just throwing high flow intakes and upgrading there exhaust systems don’t know that, so they don’t use wide band sensors and EGT’s to monitor engine’s reactions to the new setup. So they either lose power or end up with engine problems or failures eventually. Yep, like you mentioned, tuning is key and if you really do good tuning like on a dyno? Even better. But the ultimate limiting factor is a stock engine if you’re after more then 100 hp over stock factor rated hp. I didn’t know I had to write a dissertation for some people? Lol 😂
In just wondering the btcc 240hp na and this engine is kinda same,, how did they do it..I've read about the angle header, but.. Aren't you guys gonna do the same?
TWR ran extremely aggressive cams/ valves and were at 2.0L which means 77mm stroke instead of 90mm stroke so it was revving to 8500rpm instead of just below 7000 like FCPeuro project. The TWR had a lot less torque though. Which FCPeuro is keeping by having that 90mm stroke.
On engines like those you basically change everything from stock. Higher compression, super light internals, ported heads with large valves and extreme camshafts. Then ITBs and a proper exhaust, all the components have tons of work in order for everything to work just right. TWR also did some weird stuff to the heads in order to get improve valve angles without breaking the rules. You can slap tons of performance parts on an N/A engine and barely increase power if you don't know what you are doing. Tuning N/A engines is a fine art that takes decades to get good at. Another example are the Volvo 16v redblocks. They made 155hp stock as a 2.3 liter engine, but people are able to squeeze out 400hp+ with only 2 liters and N/A. At that point you are probably looking at $30.000++ for an engine.

Any reason for kinking the header tubes up rather than just aiming straight for the tunnel and moving the collector back?
Longer runners, the BTCC car had really long runners and instead of running them further out back, we decided to go up.

to gain length for correct scavanging of that engine
