      Thanks! I see you found my narration of The Accursed Lineage already, and I'm also in the process of producing a third narration for Ms Vlek as we speak. 👍 If you enjoyed this story, I think the next one will be right up your street. Cheers! -Martin

      Thank you so much! It really makes my day to connect with listeners who like the work, and with narrators who really bring it to life. I love doing this! :)

    Very wonderful! The author managed to paint a wonderful picture in only 29 minutes. And as always, the narration was superb!

    Aaron Vlek seems to write stories that are reminiscent of another time, I really like these and they are narrated by the excellent Martin Yates who has an amazing voice which lends much to these ghastly tales. Great stuff guys!!

    I am so excited!!! Aaron - I absolutely LOVED your tale Accursed Lineage. Now there's more!!?!!!!? I can't wait to hear it all! ❤️ I must subscribe to the quarterly periodical as well. What a treat that will be. I do hope you will contribute often. 💀
    And Martin. Oh sweet, wonderful Martin... your Scottish brogue is like fingers running through my hair - soft and gentle, teasing and tantalizing, that give me goosebumps as much as pleasure.
    Oh how I wish I was single 😈. Promise me you will forever read to me, my beautiful, wonderful, Scottish lullaby.

      If you'd like another story of the adventures of Vermillion and crew visit The Wicked Library. The Christmas 2018 story The Case of the Yuletide Bride is narrated there by some first class audio talent as well :)

    Whenever there's a story not written by Michael on here I'm always very hesitant to give them a listen. However, this one is by FAR my absolute favorite. I have a great need for this to be a series, a book or three even? It's too seldom we see a logical and positive approach to pagan practices, even though real life closely relates to that.
    I loved the way different spiritual paths were explained and validated. There is so much in our world we can't grasp, and we all have different yet functional ways of dealing with that reality using the tools and teachings we have at our disposal. One way is not greater or more correct than another, just different. There are strengths and weaknesses to each but more often than not we share a common ground that's simply disguised as something else to fit the purpose.
    And the end really got me good. Nine is *power*. I was thinking about that from the moment we were told they had eight. Seriously, write a book.

    • @Vlekistan
      @Vlekistan 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Why thank you Andy for your kind words! Yes, Nine is power .... and the story does reflect my own approach to things so there were no accidents there. I have lots of stories out here and there and around and feel quite certain this crew will show up again. Thanks again!

      Actually, now that I think of it, you might be interested in a new magazine that is coming out. I have a piece in The Occult Detective Quarterly. I am not involved with that publication as other than a contributor but they might have some other stories to your liking as well. My piece in that one is about the Baron Samedi.

      Why thank you! That publisher is great and has a number of interesting titles along that line along with Carnacki inspired tales. If you are not familiar with Carnacki and like this genre, you're in for a treat!

    Brought to mind some of the Sherlock Holmes stories (which by now I've read all to death!). Thank you for bringing something similar to light! Wonderful narration as well! 😘

    • @ghastlytales
      @ghastlytales  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Good comparison! I'm sure Aaron herself will chime in here on the topic, but I imagine those were a big influence, along with the Carnacki the Ghost Finder stories (which were themselves partly inspired by Holmes). Thanks for the kind words, too! -Martin

      Indeed! I'm a Carnacki fan as well as other occultist sleuths of the time and occult mystery stories such as those by Dion Fortune and others. Even Crowley himself had a bit of the crime noir to his stories.

    yeah, all that everyone else said, but I love YOUR voice Mike, you pull me in & I'm just living it... only Ian of HORRORBABBLE has that effect on me. ok , and G.M. DANIELSON, But I swear , you 3 have the very best voices in the business, males that is....lol. This is a BEAUTIFUL voice, but (no offense) NO ONE COMPARES TO YOU 3 !! 💟

    Ah! I was instantly reminded of Carnacki, the occult detective. I don't know if you have heard about him, but he was an interesting little creation by Hodgson almost a 100 years or more back.

    • @ghastlytales

      Indeed! There is a definite tip of the hat to Carnacki, as well as other purely occultist novelists such as Dion Fortune and others. Thanks for the listen!

    wow!!! egyptology, tibetan mysticism , i hold the egyptian ankh hung about my neck(instead of the cross or the albatross) and rub the head of my Buddha! (as my scottish friend neil would say "this rubs my buddha") sounds like vlek is influenced by william hope hodgsons carnackie ghostfinder series at the beginning and end.............

      I'm actually late to the Carnacki party but have loved everything I have discovered from him. You might get a kick out of another occult detective I have of a different sort over on The Wicked Library or here are the links from my site for the first two episodes, we're up to 13 episodes now with one coming out each month on The Wicked Library. aaronvlek.wordpress.com/
