Could the lens also be used well on a green screen or when you are streaming or is it only good for photos and did you use the lens where you recorded the video or did you use a different one?
Good review. That hunting issue is just terrible for low light (including studio photography). But it's a good option for outdoors during day time with no speedlite.
Hello sir, I have sony zve10 with kit lense I shoot talking head videos and reels and outdoor videos, My room size is 12×12 feet Which lense should i buy? 50mm f1.8 or 35mm f1.8? Please reply? How much distance do i need to shoot with 50mm f1.8 for talking head videos?
Honestly, either would work well but if I were to start again I would get a 16-35 or some similar wide variable lens and then the 50mm prime. I have a 24-70 but I never really shoot anything over 50. The wider shots will benefit you in your studio size as well. It's similar to mine.
I’m a new beginner & I got a Sony NEX 7 with the 18-55mm kit lens for $300 & it’s like brand new I am still learning how to use the camera. I am not a photographer because I just want to do videos so I wanted to know if the Sony - FE 50mm F1.8 Standard Lens (SEL50F18F or the OSS version will be a good upgrade for my NEX7 ? Because once I start making some money I will probably get the Sony SEL35F18 35mm f/1.8 Prime Fixed Lens which I heard is very good for video
hey! I have a problem.. When im on auto mode the lens is trying to find focus but as soon as i hit record it stops where it was set right before recording... ( i hope it makes sense) when i try to switch on autofocus manually it tells me to use the switch on the lens .. WTF> :P help !! :D
@@DarrenNaylor very happy with it, even my 6 year old daughter said that i resembled a kid when i first tried the lens. This is a game changer for me. For some people i believe it’s just a cheap prime, but for me, as beginner it’s a step up!
Thanks Steve! That test footage I showed just had a little contrast adjustment as well as darkening some of the shadows but that was about it. I'm now using, and would recommend, the Tiffen Black pro mist 1/4 on all footage personally but I have another video on my variable ND that I use outdoors too if you wnat to check that out for a more in depth review. 👍
Yep, just got this lens off of Facebook marketplace for ?150 with OSS and I’m happy already. I shoot on an A6300 so it’s the equivalent of a 75mm. Brings subjects in close and is pleasing to the eye. Just watching this video I can already see Skills, so I’m going to have to subscribe and see what I learn.
I need to get in a better habit of checking marketplace for buying things, haha. I get excited/impatient so I just want things right away but probably could save a ton looking for used. Much appreciated btw. I'm still learning as much as I can so will try and relay helpful things 🤝
Thank you for this! I bought this and I am a vlogger primarily at home so I think this cheaper lens is perfect.
Cheers for that honest review mate 🇬🇧👍
Appreciate it, bro!
can you please tell how far the camera from you in this?

Man, I can only imagine that being a problem for photography. I've only ever used it for video.
Great review !

amazing info, thank you sir

Merci from France ! Please, what microphone are you using on this video ?
Watsup, bro! That mic is the Sennheiser MKE 600 shotgun mic. I love how it sounds so I'll just hold it and use it for narration, haha.
How the OSS work?

Great video! Would apply if you can do night time shooting to see how far it can go. Thank you!
Just love this lens with ZVE1.. simple and practical. Love the depth of 50mm and most of all, ITS PRICE.. 😮 so cheeeeeaaapppp for users to get it.
Just ordered it from amazon, will arrive tomorrow ✌️
Hell ya! Let me know what you think of it!

Well done Darren. Did you color grade? And can you adivise us on nd filters for this. Thanks.

@@DarrenNaylor I'll check it out now. Thanks for your speedy reply
Came here for the info but The realness of “I don’t give a shit 😂” made me subscribe!
I got it last Week on Ebay for 115.- Euro. Great Lens!
Nice!
The Sony g master lens you showed is 1.2 sir, not a 1.8 or 1.4.
I corrected it on the video itself in the top left corner if you re-watch. I realized it while editing 🙂
Honest review ❤
Thanks, bro!
can i use 50mm 1.8 lense without background blur mode?
You can change the aperture any time
@@DarrenNaylor thank you
I got it only for £129 🥰
Not a good lens for video if you any natural sound from the camera. The motors are super loud.
Yep, I mentioned that in the video. Definitely picks up the sound.

The 50mm with OSS (SEL50F18) for APS-C is not the full-frame (FE) 50mm 1.8 (SEL50F18F) in this video. Completely different lens.
Wich one is better @@methoxy66
Good ❤❤
sigma 56mm 1.4
That's for crop sensor. This is the cheapest for fullframe.
nice)
