My Dad gave me his old 90's PS-3 several years ago and I never really explored it because it was a Boss pedal, until recently... What an underrated pedal.
Great video, congratulations. I have a question: I have an RV5 boss, do you think it would be nice to use a PS-3 along with him for ambiences, maybe making a shimmer, adding an octave effect (PS-3) and a long reverb (RV5)?
I've had experience using both pedals separately, but never together. But, I think it's a GREAT idea! I did use it for some ambient octave textures though - with an EQD Ghost Echo. IF you try it out, lemme know what you think!
Can you use the ps2 to "detune" your guitar without the tone coloring? i.e. my guitar has a locknut so asking me to tune down to Eb on that instrument is a pain in the ass, is there a setting where i can just sound like i detuned without having to break out the allenwrench?
It's not the best at a genuine pitch-shift - it definitely sounds digital. If you're looking for a performance quality pitch shifter I would recommend the Digitech Drop. I use one live for "retuning" my guitar 1/2 step to 2 steps down and it sounds great!
Hi, I picked up a used one recently mainly for modes 7-8, really excellent pedal however on the delay modes 1-3 there seems to be a slight latency issue. It's noticeable when you are playing single notes, silly question? is this normal? or is my pedal borked?
Hmm ... latency? I'm sure i understand the question as it pertains to the delay effect. Where do you have your balance, feedback & delay time knobs set?
@@GuitarWithGabe Thanks for getting back, I don't think I explained it very well in earlier post. In modes 1-3 when you pluck a few notes there doesn't appear to be any 'immediate' dry signal coming through just the delayed repeats shortly after. The balance is set anywhere from 12 to 3 o'clock
@@marktimmins2729 Oh! I see. So it's just outputting the effected signal (the delay effect)? Hmm. Try the balance all the way left for the direct signal and see if you get anything. I've run into that issue with some stereo pedals i have, and was just connected to the wrong output. Maybe it's an output connection? Here is a link to the BOSS PS-3 manual for reference: cdn.roland.com/assets/media/pdf/PS-3_OM.pdf
@@GuitarWithGabe thanks for the info there and link to manual, I'm sure I've tried both outputs with the balance all the way to the left, will have to investigate further
@@marktimmins2729 Shoot! Sorry I couldn't be of more help. I really hope you find the fix though, it's a great pedal ... when it works ;) Good luck and please share the remedy when you figure it out! I'm sure you won't be the only one to run into that issue.
Possibly the coolest boss pedal. This pedal gets pretty close to the coveted digitech space station. I like how strange some of the tones are.
+Seven Stone yes same! Looking for a pitch shifter that is a bit left of field - I think I will get one!
Cave In!!!!!!

because it was a boss pedal?
Very informative!
Nice expression pedal demo.

I use these two pedals together and the sound is very nice
I borrowed it once and somehow got this super fat over chorused Schofield octave tone I can't remember how to get back

DigiTech Drop is what you're looking for.

So its a delay OR a pitch shifter? Its not a pitch shifting delay? As in the delay taps can not be pitched +/- octaves?
Yeah I thought the same, I mean, the wet delay signal should be pitch shifted, so to me, its just a dd3 with a separate pitch shifter?
hey man, @guitarwithgabe wich guitar/amp are you using? very good sound
+Pedro Figueiredo Bilt Custom El Hombre (w/ Lollars) into a Fender 2x12 HRDeville. Thanks!
Thanks man!
