I feel such happiness when you say "I love this so, so much." Your enthusiasm is contagious, and I look forward to more mixed media. Thank you for this fun video.
You have some lovely books, Martyna! And I love your beautiful pages! I must also do more mixed media. I usually feel discouraged because of the mess it makes 😅, but the results are stunning! Thank you for sharing! ❤️❤️❤️
This was the funnest video you have ever done. Though all your videos are wonderful, Martyna. Your excitement was priceless. Mixed media is so much fun! I'm loving seeing you branch out. Wait tell you discover rust. It's so fun.
I followed a video tutorial from someone who made their own mica sprays, and you have to use isopropyl alcohol and liquitex gloss varnish to make the mica stick to the page. I made some, and it works, but the shelf life is not long, and the sprayers always start to clog up for me, so I make small batches in cheap bottles. I will try and find the tutorial for you....
I think this is the right video. I used the varnish in place of mod podge because I am not a fan of it. th-cam.com/video/bZzQRj5_VTA/w-d-xo.htmlsi=Fq58TR3gPMQa-4ll
Lovely work as always. You just need to add some glue to your mica spray. You can use Mod Podge, Glossy Accents, Diamond Glaze, or anything that will dry clear. 1/2 a teaspoon in a 2 ounce bottle should be enough. I also use rubbing alcohol in my mists instead of water.
We really missed your lovely voice and beautiful crafting. So glad your back doing your video's. I love your style and pretty projects subtle vintage pastels what's not to love. All my favourite colours flowers just delicious little ideas ❤xxxxx
Hi Martyna, my basic understanding is that you need to use mica powders with a liquid that has a binding element. Water, when dried, wont stick to the paper. Mod podge or glue are your best options. Tim Holtz Mica liquids contain some sort of chemical binder, I believe it is resign, not sure, that is why it will adhere to the paper.
Welcome Back! I missed your happy smiley cheerful chatty crafty self! I really have been enjoying your recent uploads!!! I look forward to the new series!!!😊 As for the mica sprays you need some sort of an adhesive for the mica to stick to your page or whatever you are spraying. Keep in mind that some will rub off but not fall off. So if you use just a basic wet glue like a white or clear glue that should work but it will clog your sprayer so you will need to run it under hot water every so often. There's really no recipe, just take some of the Mica mixture you have add a couple drops of glue (at a time) and shake until you are happy with with it. Hope this helps!
@@NatalieLightSeeker1111 I don’t know I am sad to say. I haven’t found any gum arabicum to buy. I would try adding very small amounts at the time and shake really well to mix it with the spray. Then spray it to paper, let it dry and test if the mica rubs off. Good luck and please let us know the results.
Welcome back. I just saw this video today but in looking back on your videos I see you have been back about 10 days! I have some catching up to do. As always enjoyed your process today and look forward to seeing more.❤
Very helpful video. New subscriber. Just getting started and learning so much! Love how you inked the pages! Hope you keep posting videos! So glad I found you today! ❤

I love what you are doing with the book pages. Thank you for sharing your process. As for adding shimmer that will stick, I use a small spray bottle with Metallic gold paint and water. I found a video on youtube called How I coffee dye my papers with a hint of shimmer, by Junk Journals and more. I have tried it a long time ago, it worked well for me.
I really enjoyed this craft session, Martyna. Those books are gorgeous and your distressed pages are yummy! I think you mentioned getting your mixed media mat on Amazon? Would you mind sharing the brand name; I'd like to buy one ❤

I use mica powder in water and spray papers. I then use the sealer that seals pencil drawings. It is light weight and is matte.

Use gum arabicum as a binder for mica.
@@erikakjellsson1756 that's a great idea! That's the binder used in watercolor.
I have powdered gum arabic, but am not familiar using it. Does anyone know how much to add to this sized bottle of mica spray??

Hi Martyna, add hairspray! Spritz hairspray into the bottle first, then some water and then the mica. Shake well and add more mica if you need.
Great idea, thank you!!
Thank you so much. I have several vintage books also that I don’t know what to do with. I can’t wait to see your next step in this process.
