She always delivered whatever she was given by the writers. In the seasons that have been broadcasted in my country all characters are pretty much one-note, so we can't blame the actors.
Carrie always wanted to live a luxurious life. There were several episodes where she tried to persuade Doug to make more of his job and quite often she begrudged others when they had things she wanted, for example when Holly got engaged to her rich boyfriend or Mike and Debbie moved in as new neighbors and were clearly wealthier than her. She even gave up her house in Queens to live in a tiny apartment just so she could say she lived in Manhattan. She just never appreciated what she already had.

Carrie's dream of living in Manhattan was not very realistic. Manhattan is for the wealthy. Even if a middle-class person lucked out and got a rent-controlled apartment or won an apartment lottery, going out several nights a week costs a lot of money. Unless she made a very high salary she'd be spending most of her evenings at home in a small apartment. And there aren't so many free events. Even low cost events start to wreak havoc on one's budget after a little while.
Assume you've never visited the city. Plenty of cheap rental apartments, more middle income housing (Mitchell-Lama) than any other city in the U.S., and a house in Queens like Doug and Carrie lived would range between 800K - 1.2 Million (sell the house - get the apt.) .
@@hd-xc2lz I have lived in Brooklyn, New York all my life and I'm 63. Where are these "cheap rental apartments?" Not anywhere in Manhattan. And as I said, even if she managed to score a relatively cheap apartment, Manhattan living is expensive. Carrie was a legal secretary and would have been spending most of her evenings home with Doug.
@@maryk446 For starters, Carrie is looking to Manhattan from Queens, lots of cheap Manhattan apartments overlooking the FDR. Lower East Side near South Street, and East Village apt buildings around Ave D are cheap. And even the Upper East Side has cheap rentals, they have shitty, brick wall views, but if you want to live the Manhattan dream... Other places, you got Penn South in Chelsea (have friends there), the West Village Houses, etc.. I lived in Bayridge, the Bronx, Red Hook, Carroll Gardens, Williamsburg, and there were both cheap and expensive apt.s in every location.
Throughout this whole series, one thing was evident… Carrie was still hung up on Zack from their time spent as coworkers at the Malibu Sands Beach Club in 1992.
Zach living good life with Kelly she now living a good life with Doug so it work out for both of them all it was Carrie have kids to make her be happy with Doug in queens
Home in Queens is much better. I feel living in Manhattan is better when your young and single or if you have a high income and don’t have plans to have kids. I’m sure there are those who raise families in Manhattan. I definitely would prefer the house later in life especially if I wanted to have a family.
In the last few seasons they were so terrible to each other, so bad that I could barely watch the show anymore. Character development at its worst. In the end, and especially with this scene the writers fixed that up a lot, at least I was fine with how the show ended.
In the flashback scene when Doug and Carrie are looking at the apartment in Manhattan, what literary festival does Carrie say happens each summer in the park right next to the building?
I don’t know why the finale gets so much hate, sure it was more of a dramatic tone but I thought they they nailed it and the montage at the end always makes me misty eyed
I think Leah Remini is the most beautiful woman in the world! If I had one wish it would be to find someone that looks exactly like her from head to toe!
May a husband as selfish as Doug never locate me. They were both good at times but terrible to each other for most of it. Would have loved to have seen their daughter, but oh well.

Carrie did stay in queens with Doug because that what he wanted they stay there for years it wouldn't kill him for him to live in Manhattan with Carrie
I personally thought their home in Queens was way more cozy, warm and inviting to the heart than the apartment in Manhattan. The apartment in Manhattan seemed cold and lifeless and even smaller than their home in Queens. To me personally, a view of a big city in an uncozy overpriced apartment is not as good as a cozy home with a back yard, little from yard with a porch, a garage, basement, color, life, etc. That's just me. In Queens, their kids could have a back yard for family barbecues, play in a little blow up pool, run through the sprinkler, eat in a super cozy and quaint kitchen, etc. That's just me personally.
@@jennyfantana3717 nah. They have 2-3 bedrooms upstairs and a massive basement apartment downstairs. Many people in the world share a 10 ft x 10 ft one room place on the floor for their whole family.
List of bad things Doug has done Carrie let it go that time he supposed to pick her up instead he stopped by at drive thru while she was waiting in rain, take her to hotel because he thought he was with her many years ago it turns out it was the wrong girl, haircut it was his idea didn't like it making fun of it to a famous person on cruise, using the credit card during his road trip with the boys she couldn't buy groceries, lying to her about working late just so he can play mud football, letting her think his leg is still broken so he can get what he wants. Is there anything else you guys can remember. All I know I think it wrong for Doug not to forgive Carrie about keeping apartment when she let all the things he did to her sly
Marriages can survive many things. Failing to maintain trust or a cheating spouse is the cardinal sin. Impossible to trust somebody who told you they didn't have a 2nd apartment when they do and don't come home for the night. Had she just stood her ground from the start and insisted on it being necessary for work, oh how different it all could have played out.
Ah yes you're right Doug also had a second apartment at one time. Also plowing her with liquor every night so he could distract her so he wouldn't have to work out. I have to admit that was ingenious in its simplicity.
@@Goddessvenom What does that have to do with her not getting rid of it and lying about it? Again it's a textbook cheater scenario and is the pitfall of marriages. It really is as simple as she lied about it and looks like a cheater. That is really what is the make or break for a male.
@@Biggiejohn What I'm saying is there was an episode were Doug had an apartment as well. So your logic applies to him as well. The liquor example was for the previous poster who listed off times when Doug did some pretty jacked up things to Carrie. They had a sick relationship period!
It’s a tv show one and 2 he had an apartment that he gave up. She literally had a backup plan in case it didn’t work out. Can’t trust that. The fact the only people defending Carrie are women tells me all I need to know
This show was about a couple who wsre both selfish and werent ready for marriage. They got pregnant and married before they were both mature. Its ok to wait a little guys...just dont wait too long.

Why Jennifer Lopez never on the show can you imagine if she was doing scenes with Carrie that would been funny to watch them together. She had a full-time job and had to cook, clean, wash, and take care of all the financial and important details. While her lazy, unmotivated husband just acted like a child.
Carrie could have done better. Doug came from a middle class family that pampered him. He was a caring man but still had selfish, childish ways and Carrie put up with him and her father because she loved them both. Doug screwed up a lot, like when he forgot to mail the insurance check and so they weren't covered when they had a major problem with the house so they had to borrow money from Doug's parents and Doug blamed Carrie for the screw up, until his father found out the truth. Carrie had to have the smarts and the balls in that relationship.
Just like the episode of flashback of getting 🏠 Doug want the other house because it was fun however lots of school traffic cause it was cross from school he realizes she right so they got house they live in now except it cost more than what it did last just like water filter she told him the neighbor was scheme she said that why Tim separate us at dinner to go for weak one Doug is weak one
She was a very selfish character that barely tolerated him, rarely respected him, and occasionally threw him a bone of kindness. Her treatment of him bordered on emotional abuse. He was immature but she didn't deserve or appreciate the love and raw devotion he had for her.
Carrie is a typical woman. Never single. They always have a back up plan/guy in place before they leave you. Even before they file for divorce. It’s just your turn.

I hope that after you get through to the other side of your current situation and when you're ready to try with another person, that you'll both be the right fit for each other and it's a relationship that will last each other's lifetimes.
@@MRF1983I just want to say that your comment is really lovely and kind. 🤍

How where they to get tickets for Trip to China quickly when they found out that night a baby is ready for them in china
It's TV
Carrie was too good for Doug.
Still wonder why this realtionship kept so long (even though it was a tv series) i guess finally he got some balls to get rid of this toxic woman
They are still together at the end of the show with 2 kids....so what do you mean?
They were both toxic.
@@lostvampire69nope. Just her
Nope, both.
Nope just her^
I always thought Doug could do so much better than Carrie. Carrie was a bully, nasty and disrespectful to Doug.
He couldn't
Carrie did stay in queens with Doug because that what he wanted they stay there for years it wouldn't kill him for him to live in Manhattan with Carrie
Why? Queens is fine.
@@haroldvazquez- More than fine. It's BETTER.

She was a jerk. I’m glad Doug moved on.
They never split.
Wait they ended this in divorce? That's so sad.
No. They adopted a child and Carrie found out that she was pregnant in China and they kept their house and Arthur moved back in.

He was a mug 🍺 😊
Everyone saying she’s toxic but I mean look at him?? Plus nothing wrong with wanting nicer things in life
Its so weird. I've not seen a single clip of this show where he isn't a self-absorbed, childish jerk. She should divorce him 100%
Still hated Carrie during those last Episodes
I don't see why he stayed with her, she is mean, angry, violent, controlling, he has his faults but I don't see
What happened... you were greedy and selfish and stop considering your husband for a lifestyle that you thought would make you happy smh typical
The fact the only people defending Carrie are women tells me all I need to know
A woman should not be punished emotionally for pursuing her dreams
This show was about a couple who wsre both selfish and werent ready for marriage. They got pregnant and married before they were both mature. Its ok to wait a little guys...just dont wait too long.
Piss off,with ya negativity!!
They couldn’t have children, hence adoption in China as a plot point.
✨
Run Doug Run.
Carrie thoughtout the show has always been a B
These are actors, of course. And very good actors. But it became hard to watch Leah being such a witch and intentionally mean. Even though this is fiction. I felt the same about Debra in "Everyone Loves Raymond" Left an unsettling feeling for me after watch episodes. I also feel, my opinion, that actors can't perform what they actually don't already have in them. if you know what I mean.
Then you don't understand what acting is😂
Why Jennifer Lopez never on the show can you imagine if she was doing scenes with Carrie that would been funny to watch them together. They had her husband on a lot her real life sisters on Kevin James have his brother on his wife on his friend Adam Sandler and Jerry stiller have his wife and kids on

Is there a main reason Carrie gets so mad at Doug 👿 just asking
Actually Doug breaks up with Carrie I believe. She was doing 2nd apartment shady girl stuff.
Easy answer. Shes a shrew. Never marry a woman like that character Carrie
@recoveringknowitall1534 tbh you probably shouldn't marry a doug either lol he's lazy, insensitive, unromatic, forgetful, and lies CONSTANTLY to get his way lol they both have very clear faults annnnd that's what makes it fun to watch 👌😂
He is a man child that needs supervision
Great marriage, good man, stable home, genuine love. Even though this is just a fictional show, this shows women cannot be satisfied.
In the same way that it also shows that husbands are always fat and father in laws always live in the basement.
She had a full-time job and had to cook, clean, wash, and take care of all the financial and important details. While her lazy, unmotivated husband just acted like a child.
She was always a jerk
@davidm4566 Yes, but he was also selfish...and sneaky.
Have you watched the show? They were equally horrible.
it’s like family guy but without the kids lmao
Carrie is a typical woman. Never single. They always have a back up plan/guy in place before they leave you. Even before they file for divorce. It’s just your turn.
Second!
She should show more leg 😍❤️
How cringe, imagine being one of passengers listening to this nonsense
Im surprised they made a show like this unless they wanted to manipulate women they need to get more out of life
Third!
Upon seeing the comments regarding adoption affordability in the states vs foreign lands one may ask why is there a tighter grip on the American process and not the others?
The states make more money off kids being in the system than they do having them adopted.
I will when Carey wresls Jennifer in a mud pit wresling ring
Carey? Really? The spelling of her name is literally in the title of the video. Carrie*

@@txjeb They're always the most racist.
It actually costs more to adopt in the U.S. My late wife and I adopted a son, he was my little brother when I volunteered for big brothers and sisters and we got to know him and his family. His mother actually signed over custody straight to us right before she passed away and yet it still cost us a fortune in both money and time to get it all ironed out. It's faster and cheaper to adopt from another country. Also, keep in mind when this was being filmed all of hollyweird was going to China to adopt kids so it was also a fad.
Ignore the edgelords calling your racist, that word gets thrown around so much now days it's lost all meaning.

Women….like you….Thinking you are a queen when really you are just another random person with a complex. 🤦
@@domanskikid What complex? Do you mean mental illness? Because complex means to have anxiety or be worried about something in particular. If you meant having mental illness, then you are simply stereotyping women with the age-old "all women are crazy" bs. Way to ignore that Patricia was correct. Dougie was a selfish person who constantly lied to get what he wanted.
