      Thank you for the information. Very helpful
      But I have a question for you
      I need a laser that can project through 2x2 inches designed object and withing 3 feet or so It will project the design to be about 2x2 ft in day light ?
      Is this possible.
      I appreciate the help in advance thanks

    Good video. Could you explain mW and wattage, also some lasers are rated in miles, whatever that means. And why are focal length and focus important, or are they? Thanks

    • @ajroman4387
      @ajroman4387 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      for the miles thing, its supposed to be how long you can see the laser from, but its p much fucking useless, ignore those

    • @NeverSuspects
      @NeverSuspects 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Watt is a unit of energy and mW is 1/1000th a Watt. It is denoting power output typically of the beam itself and not it electrical requirements to power. Lasers rated in miles is a marketing term and not a standard you should ignore it for other ratings. To cut or burn with a beam you need to focus the beam to a single small point and concentrate the power output of the laser into a smaller surface area and all of this including collimation and divergence ratings are more about the optics then the laser itself. Divergence ratings at distance indicate how imperfectly collimated the beam is or how straight the light is traveling for the whole beam and how much spread or larger the dot will be at a specified distance. The atmosphere will scatter light traveling through it anyway here as that is why the full spectrum output of the sun looks blue when it is really blindingly white.

    So what would cause a green laser to change color on contacting a surface? I have this orange felt if you shine the laser on it it turns the laser light white on contact, And the light reflected from the laser off the felt is white. Why dose this happen, I genuinely don't know? The laser dot stays the same color on every other material regardless of color, or texture. But as soon as it touches the orange felt it turns the light white on contact even cause the glare reflected off to turn white.

      We do have many things we would not be able to afford at all if that didn't happen. Part of it also happens as more people buy it and that helps offset the costs and make it nice and affordable when it should have cost a fortune to buy and even once did. 3D printers are a good example. There are some that cost as much as a good car and now there are *some* that can be bought for just a couple hundred dollars.

    So the color of,laser has nothing to do with the power of the laser? ....it seems years ago imremember most of the cheap lasers were red and the stronger ones seemed to be green....

    • @XM360
      @XM360  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Things were only that way because the commercially available reds were weak, and then people figured out a way to cheaply manufacture powerful DPSS greens that were much stronger. But you can have lasers of any color and power (based on the available technology)
