  • Soil Report is an essential document for any project. Soil test forms the decisive test for deciding the type of foundations. SBC of soil and modulus of subgrade reactions forms the basis of sizing foundations. In this structural design tutorial, a soil report is run through to show the content of a soil investigation report. All important parameters of a geotechnical investigation like bore log is explained. Also compressive soil is explained.
    The video contains the soil parameters listed below. Ensure you READ the BLOG in civilera website as well to ensure you read the additional points in the blog.
    What is Compressive soil?
    Why the foundation size needs to be restricted if the soil is compressive?
    What is depth of pressure bulb?
    Explanation of bore logs
    Engineering parameters in soil report
    Physical properties of soil in a geotechnical report
    Soil report recommendations
    Water table level in soil report
    How to read the bore hole location plan
    Recommendation on type of foundations
    Additional notes and precautionary steps mentioned in soil reprt

    Sir, is it okay to provide isolated footing below 4 m if soil report says so. In that case, the column below ground will be almost 4m straight until the plinth beam. Is it okay as I have never encountered with a 4 m deep isolated footing ?

    • @CIVILERABangalore
      @CIVILERABangalore  ปีที่แล้ว

      It will be ok but design the col for that effective length or provide ties. Also check the soil report and see if Pile may be economical. Also retaining 4m deep excavation is a point of consideration
      Decisions will be based on that
      Whats your real name. Can only see your YT name 🙂Are you in my group?

    Sir, you are trying to tell that the size 2X2 m should not be exceeded and that many more number of columns should be provided so that the axial load is less than 1620kN?

    • @CIVILERABangalore
      @CIVILERABangalore  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Am not trying to say . I said that :-)) 1620 is a higher load. You cannot even reach there. Approximately 2mx2mx180 = 720KN is what you can have to limit the footing sixe to 2m.
      Yes the soft soil below should not be subjected to load and that can be achieved only by restricting the width to 2m. You can have other means like combining and forming a strip footing with width less than 2m
