Hey guys!
It took me around 2 years to finally rerecord my video of Orion, but I am very happy with the result. What do you think of the location?
It's shouldn't be the last time to record a video there.
This arrangement is featuring a variety of different technics: tone repetition, octave jumps, runs and overall a lot of stamina in the left hand.
Hope you enjoy!

Yannick
Didn't recognize you, but before I even opened the video, I was pretty sure it was the guy who did the Ktulu piano masterpiece, from several years back. LOL Fucking amazing.
Haha, thank you!♥️ happy you found back to my channel
Just like your version of one of my favorite Metallica songs ever, the location is beautiful . So well done thank you
The hills are alive...with the sound of metal.
Thanks, Drew! Lucky to have these hills around me
5:15-6:59. Nothing fills my soul like this part of this song.
Thank you, Lauren! Happy you like it
Dude, Metallica is underrated because a lot of their nuance is drown out by distortion. You rock! Don't bother with the sheet music - you don't need it!
"Metallica is underrated" 😂
It's so underrated that they are rock best sellers 😅
Hats off, captured the metal and classic feeling of Orion beautifully.
Thank you very much😊
This is amazing! I'm pretty sure if Cliff was still alive he would cry in joy hearing this. 🖤🔥🤘
Thanks so much, Filipe ♥ It means a lot
He'd be proud
This is one of my favorites Metallica songs! Well Done!
Oh wow, thank you very much for your support♥
Cliff would be proud.
Thank you, Charlie!😊
Never realized how much classic music influenced metal, your cover truly shows that. Great job!
Thank you very much, Lazar! For all your comments.
This cover is the true definition of classical metal
Thank you very much 😊
@@YannickStreibert Thank you for recording this! You mentioned writing out your own sheet music for “Ktulu”. Is that the case with “Orion”, as well? Also, your take on “One” would be awesome to hear
One sheet music: www.musicnotes.com/sheetmusic/mtd.asp?ppn=MN0176557
Orion sheet music: www.musicnotes.com/sheetmusic/mtd.asp?ppn=MN0178272
One performance from 2013: th-cam.com/video/Pxx-aMcaL-o/w-d-xo.html
But in case of One: I will rerecord this cover with a slightly easier final solo, the left hand gives a lot of problems to many people, the rest of the song will stay very similar :-) And after 7 years, One needs a new rercording for sure!
Would you like to practice one of my covers?
@@YannickStreibert , thanks! I’d love to give your covers a try. Also, a cover of “Creeping Death” would be great
I tried Creeping Death, it does not really work to me. Yet!
I did not have so much joy writing it. Maybe I will give it a try again, but don't expect it too much.
This song at 4.15 onwards needs to be my walking down the aisle song. Beautiful ❤
Thanks for your feedback 😊 happy you like it
Just sent this to my grandad he’ll be blown away that this is metal
Thanks, Chris! Keep me updated about his opinion :)
Let us all help this channel shoot up so we could hear more of this
Thanks so much, Jay! But I promise there will be more for sure😉
Metallica with Yannick sounds like Muse did it. Amassing.
Thank you very much ♥ I love Muse
Dude that was cool
Thank you very much!
This was truly beautiful. The scenery in nature really added to the piece. You are doing a great job with your channel. Just subscribed!
Thank you so much for your lovely comment ♥
man. i can play the whole song on guitar but i’ve only been learning piano for 2.5 months and this is exactly what i aspire to be able to do
Good luck, Nathan! I can assure you it will take some more time until you would be able to play this cover, but keep it going :) I would love to hear more from you!
Yeah, I can play it on guitar as well, been learning piano for almost 2 years, can play all kinds of Chopin, Beethoven, ect, but this is still beyond me.
Wow...that left hand playing the bass at the end was so fast and accurate!🤯
Thank you very much :)
The fact that I'm rewatching this daily now means you truly earned my respect as a viewer
04/11/2022: Still rewatching this masterpiece
Thanks for coming back over and over. It means a lot 😊 thank you!
04/11/22: thanks, still!♥️
Bro is criminally underrater
I saw this after waking up and read "Bro is a criminal underwater" lol. Thank you very much♥️
Absolutely beautiful man...You deserve way more views. Hetfield and Cliff would be blown away by this I reckon.
Thank you very much, Elliott! Who knows, maybe they'll see it one day. If I am lucky. At least so many other lovely people have done it :)
Your version is the most beatiful i have ever heard, even i can say its the best of all time (no more than the song, obviously) because you PERFECTLY catch every note and sound that it has, even the aesthethic ones (the interlude and the beggining).
Thanks so much for your nice comment and for taking care of the details! It means a lot to me ♥
Absolutely brilliant. The interlude and Cliff's solos are particularly beautiful.
Thank you very much for your nice words! Much appreciated
One of my favorite song on piano 🎹 absolutely classic beautiful Metallica music Empire ❤🙏
Thank you! Which is your favorite song?😊
All about those Nikes and this song is amazing on piano!
I appreciate your positive feedback to my very questionable outfit. And of course, thanks for watching my performance😊
I see Orion : I like before the video even started
Thanks, Louis! I hope it remains after you've seen the video😇
Cliff 'Orion 'Burton 🙏🎸🎹
Yay someone else recording outside! This was soooo dramatic! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Thanks so much! I will do more outside recordings again. :)
2 years? Damn that's a lot of effort! The scenery's awesome though, nice open air!
Yep, back then I did not have access to a good grand piano since my desired location (concert hall) was blocked for several concerts (I also did not own my Yamaha piano yet) so I had to wait for the recording and at one point found interest in other projects. So Orion was kind of forgotten for some time. But that had to change :)
Happy you like the location here!
True old school Metallica fan here from the 80's and 90's. Thank you for this! I am a blessed man as i sit here and enjoy my wife listening to and learning from YOUR PIANO WORK all the while I enjoying it sitting in the beautiful home i built and created for my family as she remembered her lessons from HS! Thank you Streibert!
EDIT* to all you stupid fuckers out there! I am referring to my wife learning and practicing with ALL HER BEAUTIFUL HEART and TALENT how to play this and many other Talica tunes on the piano from watching this mans videos. I cannot tell you or express HOW BLESSED i am!
EDIT**
SHE SAYS IT IT A VERY SIMIPLE TUNE TO LEARN EXPEPT A FEW INTRACATE PARTS THAT ONCE YOU GET DOWN ITS NOT THAT HARD AT ALL. THE HARDEST PART SHE SAYS IS HOW LONG IT IS!
EDIT EDIT* DAMN RIGHT I RUB AND MASSAGE HER SHOULDERS AND COOK DINNER!
Thanks so much and greetings to your wife! :) honored to know she plays my covers
I was not disappointed! Bravo! You completely captured the essence of Cliff.
Thank you very much :)
GREAT!!! THANKS FOR THIS AMAZING COVER! ORION IS MY FAVORITE METALLICA SONG!!! R. I. P. CLIFF BURTON... 🎵🎼✨🌠
Thanks, Francesca! Lovely comment :)
@@YannickStreibert thanks for your answer! You are so kind! Have a nice day! 🙂🎵
@@francescadelmonaco5881 same for you, thank you 😊
This is better than your last Orion cover, but tell me... will you make a 3rd recording where you *mash the hell out of the keys?*
Actually...I might😎 in the style of my latest videos. I also upgraded the sound of my piano, so stay tuned. Thanks for your feedback
Sounds really different without the long fade in.
Do you like that? Or are you missing something?
@@YannickStreibert it wasn't bad, just very different. Your Call of Ktulu was amazing tho!
@@mikeconner3684 thanks for your feedback! Much appreciated
Wonderful wonderful wonderful
Thank you very much :)
this man deserves more likes! I love how plays the piano
Thanks so much for yours:-)
Thank you
Thank you as well!
OH MY GOODNESS I absolutely love this cover! You nailed this and should be proud of it. One thing I loved the most about it is that I could actually listen to the Guitar played alongwith the correct bass notes (the way Cliff played it) on a Piano!
Beautiful comment. Thanks for seing the details♥️
Excelente cover, se pueden apreciar las armonías y melodía desde un punto de vista (oído) distinto, sin el dramatismo y la violencia de la distorsión que tanto me encanta de MetallicA
Muchas gracias, Mauricio!
I still love this melody so much
Thanks, Huan! :)
Epic man!
Thank you, Timothy!
Damn dude this was so well done I cried in awe and appreciation of the beauty. Thank you!
Thank you very much as well!♥️
I love it! Location is great. Loved the video shots with the grass waving in the breeze, as well as the whole scene. And of course your ability to play and arrange is singular!
Thanks so much, Tim!🤗
spectacular !
Thank you!
Thank you!
We need more orions))
Orions for everyone!
I’ve just started to play Metallica on piano and guitar as well (I actually just now uploaded 2 vids on it) I’ve made small progress, but your beautiful playing inspires me to continue going! Thank you!
Thank you very much for your lovely feedback :) I will check your recordings! Keep on having fun!
fantastic.
Thank you very much!
A M A Z I N G! You never disappoint, Yannick! Two years paid off and was time well spent! And how appropriate with the song you chose....just like Orion...you are a bright star 🌟 my friend! Thanks for making beautiful music for all of us to enjoy. You’re an inspiration! 🙌🙌🙌

Very beautiful

Omg!! Thought this would’ve been impossible on the piano, absolutely brilliant!!!
Thanks, Ian! I always thought Orion works pretty well on the piano so I wrote a cover. Btw, just uploaded "Escape" a couple of hours ago, if you want to check :)
As always, perfect! Thank you!
Thank you, Darrell! :)

Thanks a lot for your nice words ♥ Are you playing it on the piano? Or any other instrument?
@@YannickStreibert I'm playing it on my keyboard, learning a little bit of the song each day, since last week
Oh great. Are you using my arrangement?
@@YannickStreibert Yeah, the one at your Synthesia video
Thanks a lot for the support! Good luck on it, I'd be honored to see your performance.
Just subscribed.....amazing.....my favorite metallica instrumental.....look forward to more metallica
Thanks again, Shawn! There will be more Metallica for sure, Ride the Lightning will be the next new cover. I would love to be able to invest more time into my channel, I'm sadly quite limited currently. Thanks for watching my videos :)

Haha, thanks a lot, Wilson! :-) That was cute!
I guess you mean you were hoping for a whole video first and not just the audio?
@@YannickStreibert you are most welcome sir... when i clicked on the 1st video it said 'video has been removed by user'...
Oh yes, I had to take it down since the audio was somehow messed up. It is fixed now! :)
absolutely amazing, WOW
Thank you very much ♥️
@@YannickStreibert thank you for sharing your amazing talent with everyone.
You're welcome! Thank you for your feedback and for watching my video
I can imagine if he played this on a public piano. Would be epic
It would be interesting to see how many people on the street actually recognized this. It's not Nothing else matters or any other very famous songs the have.
They’d be surprised by the fact that this is a metal song
Are you cliff burton? Wow your cover is amazing !!!
I don't have his amazing hair, sadly.
Thank you very much ♥
This video must have taken place at night in the moonlight, and the cameras should have been pointed at the stars at some points
What I wanted to do, yes. But I would have needed lightning and had no equipmemt for that at all, sadly. Not to mention the non-existing electricity lol
This is fucking sick man keep it up
Thanks a lot, Nicolas! I am currently recording Master of Puppets and Escape, if you'd like to stay tuned
5:10-7:20 reminds me of my 8th grade glory days when I always get to hang out with my friends and just be overall happy. Such a beautiful cover 😪
Also how did you record outside with no speakers?
Thanks so much for your feedback! Really happy you like my cover :-)
Simple explanation: it's possible to record this outside without any problem (the piano has speakers) and I just need my laptop next to it. But there lies the problem: cables everywhere, a laptop standing around, etc.
To make it short: this video is entirely prerecorded and the piano outside is playback. My brother walked around with the camera for around 6-7 angles, so I had to play the piano part for every new recording. The synchronization was no problem since I can play the whole piece by heart. So you still see my playing what you hear, but the audio comes from earlier.
@@YannickStreibert dang that’s so good with syncing
Thank you :)
got damn
😊
Good luck finding insurance on those 🙌 of yours! They’re priceless!
Funny you mention it: my fingers have been insuranced for 19 years already :-D
Thanks for your nice words ♥
@@YannickStreibert Good man! You are smart as you are talented!
At 4:02 you make a big mistake!
For the rest it was played very nicely.
I am sorry, but would you be more specific what you feel is wrong? It is exactly what I intended and wrote in my cover, using Metallica's chords and sheet music🤔 so not an accidental mess up in my performance
@@YannickStreibert
In the original it is slightly different.
it feels like you do something double, it is 0.4 sec longer
I think there is something wrong with your chords then.

Thanks for your help😊 and for your feedback!
Can you do this on harpsichord?!😊
Tried it on my Yamaha (of course not a real harpsichord), but just the solo sounds good. The beginning is too massive for the sound, at least in my opinion :)

Never gonna tell a lie and hurt you
We've known each other for so long
Your heart's been aching, but you're too shy to say it (say it)
Inside, we both know what's been going on (going on)
We know the game and we're gonna play it
And if you ask me how I'm feeling
Don't tell me you're too blind to see

Why am i think nightking theme
Oh, interesting comparison. Which part does remind you of it?
dumb question, but how do you get electricity in the middle of a field?
Hi Drew. Your question is not dumb at all. And the answer is simple: this, as well as all my other video recorded outside, are 100% playback. The audio was recorded at home, so you listen to my performance and my hands are actually playing the song. But the video is made for aesthetic reasons.
If there was real electricity, there would be hundreds of meters of cables lying around which would just disturb the visuals. Or maybe a portable battery, but I don't have such a big knowledge for that. If you take my performance of The Call of Ktulu which was recorded inside, the camera angle from the side was recorded while the actual sound recording was done. All other angles were recorded afterwards, again as playback, so the video could get some variety.
I hope that helps a bit :)
@@YannickStreibert makes sense thank you for the response
Where the hell is that thing plugged in? :)
Solar energy 😎 But no, the answer is simple: nowhere! I just copy a reply I wrote for somebody else, you're not the first to ask!
