Hello Doug Olsen & Rex Reason ! This is Mike Burke from Colorado. Remember me Guys ? ? I rode bikes w/ you guys back in the 1970's ! I moved to Colorado back in 1979. My Mom got married in 79' & we moved away from Lincoln. I hope you all have been well and doing good 👍.. Nice to see you guys on video on TH-cam. I'm 61 y.o. now. I really miss those good Ole days. Take care and maybe I'll get a response from you all !?! I also remember Randy Gibson, Larry Woodruff, Greg Grubbs and Joe Bomert. Luv you guys. From Mike Burke. Take care.
Hi Mike! I remember you for sure! This is Tim Lillethorup. I'm in contact with Grubbs, Baumert and Reason fairly often. Doug Olson lives overseas and haven't seen him in a while. Doug and I were both still racing in 2010! Sadly and tragically, Randy Gibson passed away a few years ago. He was hit by a drunk driver while riding his gravel bike outside of Lincoln. It was awful. Randy was the best. We had a memorial service ride for him. I think about Randy every time I ride.
Great documentary guys! What's even better than the content is the lifelong bond and brotherhood you made behind this. Now, being in my 50, I can definitely appreciate this!
Very well done documentary. I wish I had made my way up there to race your downhill tracks BITD. Thank you to all the 70's Nebraska riders and their contributions to the formative years of BMX racing!
Thanks Matt! Coming from you, this means so much. You know, you and Cash were a huge inspiration for us here in Nebraska. We thought, "hey, if they can get in BMX Action magazine from Oklahoma, maybe we can up here in Nebraska!" Hope you are doing well these days. Cheers!
This is amazing and VERY well done!! I grew up racing in Papillion, NE in the early and mid ‘80’s. This brought back a ton of great memories. The still shots and the stories are killer. I just got back in to racing BMX last year at age 48 and I’m loving it. Thanks for making this RAD documentary. I’ll definitely be buying some swag. 🤙
Your support means the world to us! We're thrilled that you enjoyed the documentary and we can't wait for you to rock some swag! I haven't been out to the track this year, but plan to make some appearances soon. Hope to catch up with you there!
@@RadMattic awesome. I currently live and race in West Michigan but I’ll still be getting some merch off of you guys! Also, do you guys remember the name of the track in Papillion during the 80’s by chance? Thanks. 🤙
I had one of those Graco MX1000 Bikes too! That's crazy that I haven't thought of it in a lot of years. I guess my tricked out 78 Mongoose took over everything for me then. I really think that the kids of today could greatly benefit from a well structured BMX environment. I wish there were more tracks and events everywhere...
Ah, the classic battle of the bikes! The Graco MX1000 vs. the tricked-out 78 Mongoose! Sounds like an epic showdown. Maybe we should start an old-school BMX league just for nostalgia!
Pretty cool story of the history of BMX racing and father and son team work... That is something that is definitely lacking today instead of sitting in the house staring at the phone like I am right now.
What an awesome video. I was around in the late 70s and early 80s riding a Peugeot CPX 100. Our local neighborhood in west Omaha made tracks and jumps in open lots. In the early 80s we built a great track just south of 150th and Harrison. AC Anthony Chambers in your video still competes. Just in the last 5 months I have restored several 80s bmx bikes including a Peugeot, a few Schwinns, Roger Decoster and working on a Redline. Thanks for putting this together.
Glad you enjoyed it! Bruce Kenkel? I think I remember that name! I talk with Anthony every day! I got him hooked on vintage BMX racing and we have gone to DirtyFest, Frogtown, Texas Classic BMX days and the USABMX Vintage Nationals together! He went to Guy Cooper's vintage race in Oklahoma in June and won on his Roger DeCoster! (I couldn't go to that one). Cheers Bruce!
Ah, the thrill of the stingray! If only I had a dollar for every time someone mentioned Joe Kid-I'd be funding my next adventure! Joe Kid is an awesome production! Thank you for the compliment!
Good to see my old compadre Anthony Chambers briefly featured! Are any of these folks still riding around Omaha? I put in a little time at Roberts Skate park early most Saturday mornings. The air I get is smaller in scale than the old days but still gratifying. It would be fun to rip up some dirt jumps.
"An Omaha rider would pass you and you would know it, with an elbow in the ribs. A Lincoln rider would pass you and you would know it because he was gone." LOL
My dads cousin Bobby letourneau was a BMX rider in the 80s and he was sponsored by Schwinn and I always looked up to him he was the craziest of my family he would fight anybody and do anything and he built this track in spring lake park Minnesota And he was killed by a drunk driver in 1988 1987 and I still look up to him to this day
It's amazing to hear how much Bobby inspired you. His legacy in BMX and the impact he had on your life is truly special. Thank you for sharing his story!
History....Rad zone...bike bmx sport...👍
Ah, a true BMX historian in the making! Just remember, no matter the era, the radness is always in full swing!
@@RadMattic It's true...tremendous origin,Bmx freestyle flatland 80s ...and to day 2024 flatland...👍
Great story well told with pride and a smile
I really appreciate your kind words! It means a lot to know the story resonated with you.

So much rich BMX history over there. Awesome video Tim!

Excellent video. I'm from the UK but I love anything to do with BMX and BMX history.
Thank you.
Your support means a lot to me, thank you for watching and appreciating the content!
Great vid. My older brothers and I were huge into bmx in the early to mid 70’s till the early 80’s. Oh the memories and the bikes. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much for watching and sharing your memories! It’s always nice to connect with fellow BMX enthusiasts.
Cool man!! Good times..🤟
Yes it was! Thanks William!

Thanks Larry! You are so right. We are fortunate to have grown up in those good old 60's, 70's and 80's where your bike was your entertainment!
Awesome Tim! So well done.

Ah, the legendary Suzuki! It's like the cockroach of the bike world-surviving everything thrown at it!
