This is adding a key to a 2013 and up Nissan. New nissans have a rolling 20 digit code you will need to program a key, that's what the code reader is for!
Yes you need a pin code reader because Nissan has rolling pin codes everytime you program a key you'll get a new pin code...some programmers read the pin code but newer cars usually require a pin code reader
You can find people locally usually that will program a key for you for about $50...just buy the key off eBay than have someone program it for you...but you can't program a key without these tools...I detailed cars and added the key programming to my services, that's how I justified buying it

I sat beside him and he tried 3 times and then let another employee try, each time the original fob that came with my 2014 altima would program fine but the other two would beep and be rejected. I did'nt say anything but they concluded the programing was "burnt" into the unit" and could not be changed with theyre equipment. They did not try to upsell me a fob and did'nt charge me but said I would have to get unused or ones restored to a "virgin state". I now believe this a real thing and will try an "unlocked" fob next. But I'm confused as you claim you can do it with your 2013, I wonder if you had an early model w/different software or perhaps your skp-900 has some ability to override the security?
Not everyone has the right equipment..you have to have a pin code reader to program Nissan keys...I've done 2014 models...all I'm saying is I was at a dealership doing keys...he had an extra Nissan key from a different car and I made it work..you need to get the pin code from the car than assign it to the keys
No they did'nt have the pincode reader. So I guess theyre equipment could only program the original fob and hopefully "virgin state" ones whereas your reader will generate a new pincode that will somehow be allowed to work with a new or used fob. Where are you located BTW?

Yes this is correct, you need the pin code reader. What your locksmith used was a Key clone..it just adds same pin code to the key fob so it's not activating a new key technically. That's why some locksmiths require you to have at least one key that works...with my method you don't need a working key at all...and the pin code reader is only $100...worth having it, it will pay for itself after one key. Glad you got it worked out though!
You can program any Nissan smart key even if it's already programmed to another car just by following the same steps...I've tested it many times...of course it no longer works for the other Vehichle once you program it to the new car.

That's what I thought too until I tried it... I took a key from a 2013 and programmed it to a different car. I've seen people selling unlocked keys for more money. When you program a key it opens a code in the Nissan and the key follows code...anytime you program a new key you also have to rewrite the old key because the car and new key will have a new code. So I always programm the new keys with the old keys. the keys are never locked..Nissan uses a rolling code it assigns a key code than writes that code to the keys. Don't pay someone to "unlock" a key for you before programming...you don't need all that.

I have a 2015 Nissan Altima it also came with one smart key I also have a viper 5706 remote starter on it will the viper alarm interfere with the programing?
Jose Saravia-Perez, if you read previous comments... YES! This method does NOT require a working key to "clone" a new key. This will clear all the old keys and program in all new keys.
Make sure to start with the pin code than program your key as well as the new "used" key with the same new pin code...also make sure the fob has a chip in it...hope this helps

Mine too...there are companies that charge money for "clearing " a remote or key so it can be programmed again...you can clear it while programming it. It's all a money thing...Nissan has a rolling pin code so each time a key is accessed it changes the pin code...same as if I took a key from your car and used it on mine...I've done it and it works. It could be...if you have one key programmed you'll want all keys present. Otherwise the previously programmed keys won't have the same pin code as the new one. Anytime I program a new key I reprogram the other keys too. That message you got I have not had before though..not sure about that message to be honest.
Look for I message error on TH-cam they say it's because someone programmed a proximity remote using 5 button like for remote start when the car didn't come equipped with it. Just reprogram the keys it should make that message on the dash go away
+JC-Details the car does have a remote start lol I actually can't use it though. maybe its the reverse and programmed for buttons when it should be 5. I'll have to take it to Nissan, I don't have the equipment to reprogram myself

No you cannot. Even if is the same FCC ID. I tried on my friend's 2013 Nisan Altima with brand new key (5 buttons). I put the right code, everything went very smooth, but the key was not programmed.
Yes...it will work on any Nissan and a bunch of other models as well...if it’s just a fob you’re trying to program to lock and unlock doors but the key works to start the car..you can try to program those without a machine...just google how to program fob or go to nissans website
I just bought a 2017 rogue from auction and it only came with one key. I ordered the skp 900 and the nscp001. I want to delete all keys and start new with the key it came with and a new key fob i purchased. Will this program the lock and unlock features or do I have to do the nissan method for that part?
No it will program everything...when you program the new key...you will get a new pin code...that code applies to the new key and the key you already have....and once programmed the lock unlock and remote start feature will work...if you have any issues let me know..

Try this: 1. unlock the door with mechanical key 2. open and close the drivers door 2 times 3. move the steering wheel to the left while starting 4. push the button in harder

This is news to me...no pin code no program...when you hit no code it starts the rotating codes I haven't ever seen it done your way..

Both keys have to be programmed so they have the same code...tokens are free when you run out they give you a link to reload with this machine

Hey jeff, just go through the programming I did here, it will work. Just make sure you didn't buy remotes without the chip in them...

When I do the last step when I touch the ignition with the first programmed key it doesn't do the 11 beep and I can only have one key programmed
