I tried to play this game EarthBound on my SNES mini because people talk about how amazing it is. it has cute graphics but the game itself is atrocious. terrible combat system with the absolute worst inventory system of all time and the most unintuitive exploration of all time. I got stuck at a certain point and when I found out that the only way to get past it is you stand behind a waterfall for 4 minutes straight and then a portal opens up I was like okay I'm done with this game. this is a 1 out of 10 game. it feels like more of a prank than an actual video game. went back to playing Super Metroid. And uh... im Gay??
I actually had never heard of the game even though I was playing some of those games when I was young (Final Fantasy 3, Chrono Trigger, etc). This game was a suggestion on this channel and I went to check it out. I don't think it stands up against those other greats. As far as I'm concerned, all these games suck except Shadowrun and Maniac Mansion.
thats the thing, the game is a prank! its filled with a bunch of things like this, like the bike making you way faster but it becomes unusable the moment you get another party member. considering you're only alone for a very short part of the game.. yeah. either way, mother 3 is the superior game imo. dont need to play the other games to get into it, and it doesnt have things like that as far as im concerned.
Earthbound is genuinely one of the most overrated games out there and the only good thing to come out of it is Lisa, which is infinitely a better game and much worth your time

To be fair someone does tell you in dialog you have to wait behind the waterfall.
