  • From Fusion 360 to Mach 3, cutting Mother Of Peral inlays in beautify figured rosewood, scallop radius countered fret slots, and deep cut count resets, what should be any better. It's a simple little video, and I've done this a few times before. There is something that I enjoy that's soothing; that's just nice to do. This instrument will be a special one, but more on that later. For now, let's make some chips and enjoy my process for CNC cut fretboards using Fusino360 and Mach 3.
-Check out my website. I would be happy to make an unfinished guitar, bass, or any string instrument for you. The standard method to support what I do here, both as Ideas and projects that you will see on the channel. Do you have an idea that you think would look awesome in one of these videos? Let's make it! If you need a router template set to make your design, I make those too!

-Patreon members pay $1 per month and get access to a lot of the live stream and project build Fusion 360 files, including full 3d models, CAD, and CAM. If your learning Fusion360 and following along with the live streams, this is a great way to support the content.

Thanks to Oak Studios for the music; I'm trying something different, and so far, I like it. Check them out, and let me know what you think of the music.

Awesome videos- are you running a router that fits 1/2" bits on your CNC bed?

I use a 2.2Kw three-phase spindle and VFD, and yes, the collet can accept a 1/2" shank. There are a couple of reasons the spindle is a better choice for CNC work. Routers are not made to run continuously; sometimes, for hours, the bearings and brushes wear out very quickly; when I was running a router on my machine, I would replace the bearings and brushes a couple of times a year. A spindle and VFD can also closely control rotational speed; this is critical in setting up your feeds and speeds when CNC milling. Routers tend to bog down under load, they slow down, while spindles and VFDs can increase the current required to keep a constant speed.

Very cool. Question for you. Given everything that goes into making a guitar, is it possible to CNC a complete guitar body, fretboard and all, from a resin river blank? I don’t know much about guitars, but a friend wanted to have a translucent neck, fretboard and head.

It could be done, It won't play well, resin is not structural stable enough to endure string pressure over time.

Great video as always! I just signed up for your patreon last week. Great content there as well! I am assuming you’re using fusion 360 for cam. What parameters did you adjust for that lead in ramp?

Thanks, yes fusion 360, the lead in and out on the outline contour is a simple 1/2"
