    So grateful for you taking me “along” on this hike!!! So wish I could be out there too! But you showing us so many details on a daily basis helps me to feel like I am out there, as well as to know what to expect when I finally can finally be there. You are doing awesome!! 😊🎉

    You mentioned hearing from Fireball. Are you and Roadrunner not keeping in touch at all? That kind of makes me sad, although I definitely understand hiking your own hike.

      Makes me sad to considering the friendship Prehike and early days of PCT but RoadRunner is crushing the miles and is happy and relaxed.

    Enjoy that Pub Crawl Trail while you can! That whole vibe is gonna' start changing once you get up closer to the Sierra!
    Great videos!
    Be safe; keep at it!

    Have you mentioned what happened to Hiking Dancer? Maybe I just missed it.

      A few days ago Roadrunner had kept going while the others set up camp. They were apart for a couple days while she crushed out some higher miles. She ended up zeroing (if I remember correctly) to let the others catch up but that ended up not happening because Chap, Hammer, and Guardian decided to go to LA. Roadrunner ultimately made the decision to continue hiking as she had no interest in getting off trail for Los Angeles and she started to get amped for hiking higher mile days. She’s currently cruising about hiking her own hike and I honestly love that there’s more variability in both of their videos now :) Roadrunner seems to be doing good on her own and she’s currently hiking with some other hikers

    Question for you Chap. Another TH-camr complained about the exorbitant prices encountered on trail. I'm wondering if it's just a California thing or a PCT thing. Since you were just off trail, how does LA compare to trail prices?

    • @lilchaphikes
      @lilchaphikes  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Most things were pretty high priced.regular gas is almost $6 per gallon.

      @@lilchaphikes On trail or California in general?

      Everything out here, including around trail, seem to be pretty high priced.

    Had to chuckle about your early morning wake-up given your camp tour in Day 40's video (th-cam.com/users/clipUgkxQL6IGStPQJyMjeooTSzslTaYtGTgLu58?si=YgERxGmJ90_CA9zd). You'll be enjoying more covered forest soon. Godspeed.

    Yeah, Hammer was bemoaning not being in LA and even getting homesick. He’s so beta compared to you. Your trails names should be Alpha and Beta. You get to be Alpha. Helpful to know about the stealth-camping situation. Wonder if there’s a special resource for stealth-camp locations (likely not FarOut).

      In California it's just called "camping." 😄 To be specific, the public land agencies call it "dispersed camping." West of the Rockies you can pretty much camp anywhere in National Forest, Bureau of Land Management, and in some state park lands (with some restrictions near established camping areas, sensitive areas, etc.). The problem here is that chaparral habitat is very dense and there are generally few places to camp or even get off trails to pee.

      Yep, stealth camping out here is just camping, and that's the same whether you drive or backpack to a spot. About half the states of Oregon and Washington are public lands managed by federal government agencies, Department of Interior (BLM, F&W, Parks) and Agriculture (USFS), filled with recreational and industrial use areas, and another large portion are start or county lands, and most of these lands are heavily forested. Car campers can just pull off a main road into a pullout or onto a side road and camp on public lands. Hikers can camp anywhere on public land that is not signed with "No Camping" or requiring a special permit due to environmental considerations (fire recovery, overuse, volcanic activity, etc.). Fire danger compliance is taken very seriously, especially during wildfire season.

    After spooning with The Hammer in LA, sleeping on your own will never be the same again. 🥄 😛
