Ghislaine is a "Sword God Style" King (Confusing, I know), there's also Water God Style, not to be confused with Water Magic. There's also the North God Style, which is part of what Paul is experienced with (The sword throwing tecnique is from that school). They relate to each other in a rock-paper-scissors fashion. Meanwhile, it's disadvantaged against Water God, which focuses on parrying and defense. Sword God is generally considered the strongest of the three.
@@matilozano96 >"Sword God Style" King (Confusing, I know) Is it really confusing tho? As far i understand it is School: sword god style Rank: king I might be wrong though.
@@astrotecn Yeah, that's correct. It's just that it's often abridged to "Sword King", while the Sword God is actually the Sword God Style God. So you read Sword God and you might not know if they're referring to the school or to the person. Water God is even more confusing, because the Water Style ranks are similar to what we've been hearing for water magic. If you hear Water King, you're not referring to a magician but to a swordsman. The magician should be referred to as a Water King Class Magician or something like that.
The title themselves is the same for both swordsman and mage. The difference is while the swordsman is called a "Rank" like Ghislaine being a Sword King Rank, mages are classified as "Class" for example Rudy is a Water Saint Class mage and Roxy is a Water King Class mage. So, if they say Water Advance Rank, this is actually as swordsman practicing the Water God Style with an advance rank. However, even if the title is the same how to acquire them is a bit different. For mage case it's much simpler, learn the magic of that class and you earn the title. The swordsman is a bit more complicated, on the lower rank you only need to learn the technique in order to advance the rank. But on higher ranks, you earn it either by, 1. You've been recognize by your master and been given the title or 2. You beat your master and earn his/her title.
That was... kinda lacking? Lemme add some stuff Silent casting has the benefit of being able to manipulate spells on the fly and to meld spells, but the downsides are the increased amounts of mana necessary for any modification and the concentration required Transforming a waterball to be huge or tiny takes the same amount of extra magic and it increases the more its modified, due to this modifications are only useful for people with a huge mana pool like Rudeus, while incantations have the benefit of being made in automatic, which makes them useful in stressful situations or for hybrid warrior/mage classes The ability to shorten incantations can be taken a level further by understanding the spell and automatizing it to the point the chant is completely omitted and only the spell name is required, Chant Omission is the final goal of incantations and for the regular person is a much better alternative than silent casting Rudeus has about 50 times more mana than an advanced magician Having a gigantic mana pool like Rudeus is not required to learn spell modification or melded spells, but its incredibly useful for learning as it allows for several hours of daily practice while ordinary magicians would be tired after a few tries In the anime we can see Rudeus making figurines of his family and friends, those statues are made with the same base spell as Rock Bullet, but turning off the firing speed and reshaping the bullet This combination of silent casting and a large mana pool make Rudeus not fit on the regular power tiers, when it comes to elemental magic the tiers go roughly like this: Saint level is large scale magic of a single element, like unleashing a storm King level magic is the same but overcharged, like making rain down thunder Emperor tier magic is melded magic of different elements from saint level and above God level magic is like emperor but on a much larger scale A very important part is that for magicians the rank doesnt really correlate with battle power, a god tier magician may be able to reshape a continent, but that would require several hours or days of preparation, making those spells useless for combat But that same god tier magician would surely be able to omit the chants of several basic and intermediate spells, which would be their actual repertoire for middle-close combat Long range spells are mostly used in wars and ambushes so its hard to consider them combat spells, they are more like artillery Rudeus' fighting style consists mainly of melding spells to throw off the enemy's balance, and overcharging basic and middle tier spells until they are as dangerous as spells of higher tiers Warriors use Touki, "fighting spirit" that is just magic infused on the body, it forms a layer that can grant protection, super strength and speed, and it increases with rank, there are manuals for touki but they mainly consist of practicing until they get it This is because touki is based on the user's body and thus is extremely hard to make an standardized method, practice is the only reliable way of achieving it Eris is talented at touki and thats why she is physically strong, while Rudeus totally sucks at it For warriors the rank really determines their fighting power, but being a god tier warrior doesnt mean they can resist god tier spells, as they are based on fighting and not just tanking attacks Magic and warriors were never meant to be equivalent in tiers, thats just a convention used because there are very few magicians from king rank and above As a rule of thumb for the same rank, a magician is dead if a warrior gets to close, while warriors are dead if they cannot get close enough to the magician
"Rudeus has about 50 times more mana than an advanced magician" Maybe when he's 7 or something. His later feats make it totally clear his is far above just 50.
@@bastion8804 When Rudeus is around 16 years old there is a part where he is helping a person with a research by charging experimental magic circles, it was said an advanced magician would be spent after one circle and Rudeus stops at 50 ands is tired but ok, i used that as a measurement But yeah, maybe i should have said "more thsn 50 times the mana of an advanced magician" i guess 60-70 more times Edit: i forgot to add, we are talking about advanced magicians, who are already capable of using strong spells, like AOE fire attacks that would kill a pack of monsters, you know, the heavy damage dealers of a party
@@GinHindew110 if a magician is on a 1v1 situation with a swordsman, wouldnt the magician lose? This was clearly shown with Rudy without the Magic Armor not even being able to react to Saint to above rank sword attacks.

No spoilers, clean explanation, and good visual (something a thread can't). Thanks for the video and eh you got one more sub! :)
:0c Very interesting~ I understand that cutting this explanation in teh show may have made things move along quicker and easier, but this is pretty cool to learn about.
Just a bit of a correction. its not Rudi's knowledge of the elements as to why he can no cast spells, he explained that he feels how the mana goes through inside his body and he is able to recreate that effect and use the same magic, thats why he needs to learn the incantation of spells before being able to no cast it. Its also later explained that he cant feel mana flowing outside his body so he cant copy it, which is how healing magic works, its an external effect thats why he cant just nocast healing spells, this is also an explanation that will be used for his lack of advancement in his swordskills later on.
Right. No cast in this world is all about mana sense. In fact Sylphy has greater mana sense that's why she can no cast healing spells. Their superior mana sense is an effect of their Laplace factor.
you are half correct, indeed what you have said about rudy is correct if we remember the diariy of future thing you know if you comprehend how it works you can achieve it or mold the rules of the world as you want like the old man said. So if rudeus knew about anatomy and phisiology it is possible he could do better at healing magic
The way rudeus use magic remind me of a anime called “a wiseman grandchild” the main character was so op because he understood how the fundamental of magic work
No actually, Rudues doesn’t have that Ik the whole element or periodic table that I’m smarter than Einstein shit, Rudi took years to understand magic better and is still not that smart, he knows somehow know how magic works but the magic in MT is whole shit different than Kenja no Mago and Rudeus doesn’t even know how to use healing magic that much since he still doesn’t know much about magic and he can’t control some elements like Thunder
As far as I know the current Mushoku Tensei (first cour) will have 11 episodes, and the second cour will be released next summer (July 2021) with 12 episodes totaling 23 episodes for the first season. It hasn't been confirmed yet if there'll be 2nd season and beyond, but seeing how popular this show already is I think it's highly probable :D

As with most "fantasy" worlds containing "fantasy" stories, they are more likely than not to be based on something real within that fantasy world. And, therefore, we could assume that Rudy would either find the legendary people involved, become the legend's successor or become the legend's very antagonist. However, I doubt the third would really happen with a protagonist like that. (Please don't quote me on that, I've already eaten my words multiple times before.)
@@Lloyd_Montecillo If I remember correctly the first book is a tale of Perugius the most powerful summoning magician and a character later in the story. The other one tells about the founders of the three sword styles.
@@alexnabbvik9810 Rudy was already informed of the actual existence of Perugius when he noticed the flying castle. This was when he realized that those "fictional fantasy" stories were actually the world's history.

This show, IMO, is one of the best anime I have ever watched. Easily would place this on the same pedestal as Cowboy Bebop and Evangelion. I have watched almost 200 anime series since the end of 2017 (the first time I ever watched anime past preteen years) and I am confident in saying this. The art, the story, the characters. Just superb.
Agreed, i wouldn't call it the best anime since there are far too many genres to effectively compare them like evangelion is a philosophical series which deals with the human mind, depression and escapism while mushoku is a fun isekai, if going by an isekai i would most definitely call it the best isekai
@@Moltenlava woah, well we r berly going to volume 4 and know that Mushoku Tensei is a very emotional novel a rollercoaster to say the least and the topics it dives into are fantastic so, what I'm saying is that the true story hasn't started.
@@nhagan001 debatable, Re zero's characters, are fantastic but as an isekai it functions poorly (im an anime only) Re zero's fantasy elements are just briefly glossed over in the anime and serve as tools rather than the main focus + its pretty obvious that the show cares more about the characters rather than world building(which is extremely essential for an isekai) , i would brand re-zero as an adventure anime which has an isekai theme and mushoku to be a complete isekai, but that's just my opinion
We finally get the Mushoku Tensei videos you promised! Awesome! Real shame that you won’t be able to make the cut contents, but this is a good substitute.
I like this show alot better than Re:Zero, its alot more satisfying seeing the main character do well and get in funny situations instead of suffering and progressing very little by torture and grinding each episode.
Well Re:Zero is a different take than the normal iseikai, which is why its really popular. Mushouku tensei is just a normal iseikai that does iseikai right.

Great video! I will definitely watch any videos you put out for this show, but thank you for prioritizing Re:Zero I look forward to your cut content video for it each week!
when it was shown Roxy was unable to use silent casting but Sylphy was I guessed as much. Silent casting would require Roxy to rebuild her fundamentals, which once you get to a certain level of proficiency is really hard or just simply impossible
didn't rudie state in one of the first few esp that amount of mana someone had wasn't static and could grow by them using it more and more. Like a muscle it just needs to be exercised.
I'm pretty sure the mannequin grow a little bit it's just that a lot of people in this world are born with too much mana and die because their souls can't handle it. It's a little similar to the mana problems in ascendance of a bookworm
The novels are pretty unclear with this. Because later, we learn that Rudeus and Sylphy both had above average mana capacity because of something called the 'Laplace factor'. But part of the reason Rudeus' mana pool is so disgustingly large is because he started practicing since he was a toddler. So far, it was only Rudi and Sylphy's theory that mana capacity increases when the person starts practicing as a kid.
@@erissimp6087 yes both of them has laplace factor, but because he trained earlier and harder than sylphy, he became a lot stronger than her. Ofc sylphy is not weak either, but there's no way she will stand a chance against anyone from the ranking.

What can I say
+1
That was... kinda lacking? Lemme add some stuff
Silent casting has the benefit of being able to manipulate spells on the fly and to meld spells, but the downsides are the increased amounts of mana necessary for any modification and the concentration required
Transforming a waterball to be huge or tiny takes the same amount of extra magic and it increases the more its modified, due to this modifications are only useful for people with a huge mana pool like Rudeus, while incantations have the benefit of being made in automatic, which makes them useful in stressful situations or for hybrid warrior/mage classes
The ability to shorten incantations can be taken a level further by understanding the spell and automatizing it to the point the chant is completely omitted and only the spell name is required, Chant Omission is the final goal of incantations and for the regular person is a much better alternative than silent casting
Rudeus has about 50 times more mana than an advanced magician
Having a gigantic mana pool like Rudeus is not required to learn spell modification or melded spells, but its incredibly useful for learning as it allows for several hours of daily practice while ordinary magicians would be tired after a few tries
In the anime we can see Rudeus making figurines of his family and friends, those statues are made with the same base spell as Rock Bullet, but turning off the firing speed and reshaping the bullet
This combination of silent casting and a large mana pool make Rudeus not fit on the regular power tiers, when it comes to elemental magic the tiers go roughly like this:
Saint level is large scale magic of a single element, like unleashing a storm
King level magic is the same but overcharged, like making rain down thunder
Emperor tier magic is melded magic of different elements from saint level and above
God level magic is like emperor but on a much larger scale
A very important part is that for magicians the rank doesnt really correlate with battle power, a god tier magician may be able to reshape a continent, but that would require several hours or days of preparation, making those spells useless for combat
But that same god tier magician would surely be able to omit the chants of several basic and intermediate spells, which would be their actual repertoire for middle-close combat
Long range spells are mostly used in wars and ambushes so its hard to consider them combat spells, they are more like artillery
Rudeus' fighting style consists mainly of melding spells to throw off the enemy's balance, and overcharging basic and middle tier spells until they are as dangerous as spells of higher tiers
Warriors use Touki, "fighting spirit" that is just magic infused on the body, it forms a layer that can grant protection, super strength and speed, and it increases with rank, there are manuals for touki but they mainly consist of practicing until they get it
This is because touki is based on the user's body and thus is extremely hard to make an standardized method, practice is the only reliable way of achieving it
Eris is talented at touki and thats why she is physically strong, while Rudeus totally sucks at it
For warriors the rank really determines their fighting power, but being a god tier warrior doesnt mean they can resist god tier spells, as they are based on fighting and not just tanking attacks
Magic and warriors were never meant to be equivalent in tiers, thats just a convention used because there are very few magicians from king rank and above
As a rule of thumb for the same rank, a magician is dead if a warrior gets to close, while warriors are dead if they cannot get close enough to the magician
"Rudeus has about 50 times more mana than an advanced magician"
Maybe when he's 7 or something. His later feats make it totally clear his is far above just 50.
@@bastion8804 When Rudeus is around 16 years old there is a part where he is helping a person with a research by charging experimental magic circles, it was said an advanced magician would be spent after one circle and Rudeus stops at 50 ands is tired but ok, i used that as a measurement
But yeah, maybe i should have said "more thsn 50 times the mana of an advanced magician" i guess 60-70 more times
Edit: i forgot to add, we are talking about advanced magicians, who are already capable of using strong spells, like AOE fire attacks that would kill a pack of monsters, you know, the heavy damage dealers of a party
@@GinHindew110 if a magician is on a 1v1 situation with a swordsman, wouldnt the magician lose? This was clearly shown with Rudy without the Magic Armor not even being able to react to Saint to above rank sword attacks.

I'm thinking that he left them out simply because of spoilers. Some of those things are revealed later in the story, and are impacted in how the plot progresses so he was probably trying to avoid spoiling something that would be revealed with time
This is one of my favorite Isekai’s of all time. It’s the first that I’ve seen that actually sets the MC at as “level 0” as you can get. It’s probably not the first to do the whole infancy to OP thing but it does it so well
While it might not be the first to do the infancy to OP thing, it certainly set the bar for how it should be done. Then some people just decided fuck it and every reincarnation isekai nowadays is
-be born
-learn about the existence of magic
-time skip 15 years, MC is now a God with no explanation whatsoever about how he got there

I would love to see more videos covering Mushoku Tensei! Especially about the sword styles and thier rankings.
Definitely would love to see more Mushoku Tensei content in this channel. The way you explain things makes everything simpler to grasp for those of us who didn't read the source material.
Please do more of these videos, even cut content would be amazing! I just want more info on this world and the story. Please keep up that hard work and hope I can see more of this anime cut content and world!
That was a great video, thank you for the explanation! I'd love to hear more about Mushoku Tensei's lore from you :)

Thank you for this, such a great show and seems like it has quite a deep lore, hope you can continue with the series
This Anime is great I'm waiting every week to watch the next episode. The combat styles and magic styles are so though out that they are almost perfectly integrated into the world at large. The pace of the anime is great and the time spent on character building is awesome and in-depth, well that's my opinion on this great anime, please do another video on this anime. Mushoku Tensei and Re:Zero magic systems are actually pretty nice. It's not like anyone can use Advanced spells after Some "hard training"
This anime has quickly become one of my favorite of all time and it’s so hard to find content about it on TH-cam! Keep up the great work!
:0c Very interesting~ I understand that cutting this explanation in teh show may have made things move along quicker and easier, but this is pretty cool to learn about.
This was super interesting to watch. Can't wait to see more videos like this on the world and lore of Mushoku Tensei

The way rudeus use magic remind me of a anime called “a wiseman grandchild” the main character was so op because he understood how the fundamental of magic work
A lot of the really good isekai op characters use their knowledge of our world to further benefit their magic skills
Wiseman grandchild is kind of like the guilty pleasure anime imo. Not good critically but it feels good
Mushuko tensei i think is the first novel who create this concept of magic. Manipulation by using imagination.
He actually made use of modern physics to shape his spells.

"Two fictional stories of fantasy."
Are they, though?

Good choice in direction for the extra content. Having read the LNs, I'm super into you explaining stuff in your chill voice along with the great editing and hella passion.
@@Moltenlava I would disagree there. Re;Zero is above MT.
I've never seen such level of world-building since One-Piece.
@@nhagan001 debatable, Re zero's characters, are fantastic but as an isekai it functions poorly (im an anime only) Re zero's fantasy elements are just briefly glossed over in the anime and serve as tools rather than the main focus + its pretty obvious that the show cares more about the characters rather than world building(which is extremely essential for an isekai) , i would brand re-zero as an adventure anime which has an isekai theme and mushoku to be a complete isekai, but that's just my opinion

you forgot to add that silent spell casting has to be learned at a young age or you will never be able to use it
I wasnt sure if that was a spoiler or not so I decided not to include it.
when it was shown Roxy was unable to use silent casting but Sylphy was I guessed as much. Silent casting would require Roxy to rebuild her fundamentals, which once you get to a certain level of proficiency is really hard or just simply impossible

Ok i adore edits in this video. Good storytelling, and great video.
didn't rudie state in one of the first few esp that amount of mana someone had wasn't static and could grow by them using it more and more.
