But this time he killed Agust D (The King) because he doesn't need a persona, like a mask to pretend that he's a celebrity anymore, because the little poor boy that he was just grew up and made it so now Agust D, Suga and Min Yoongi are the same person. It's my version of the MV... Because sometimes celebrity lose who they really are, they're quite like acting in front of the public...

The one he's wearing is actually a traditional clothing that only kings could wear. You see like traditionally asians grow hair of and take care of it which shows rank on society. If i wasn't wrong i can't remember the name of the king way back but he also has a scar. He was actually renowned for his ruthlessness and bravery for breaking the stereotypes of what kings would be. You seem to relate long hair to girls only, but he didn't have long hair in that shot bc he tried to look like a girl but bc he's portraying a king from the past. Long hair was the norm back then for both men and women, it was disrespectful to cut it because it is considered the legacy from the parents. Usually it was styled up in a bun like you could see the "commoners" in the beginning, or hidden under a hat (usually upper class, king, since the type of hat also showed that person's status).

The fact that he has long hair is because he was representing how kings used to have it, this is a cultural thing because nearly all men used to have their hair long. And the reason he has a ponytail is because that is how they usually styled their hair. The king used to wear it like that. In fact women didn't style their hair that way. For more reference you can watch kdramas set in that time.

No. The king of Joseon did not do his hair like that. Kings didn't cut their hair but they did their hair like suga of the first scene MV and they put king's hat on their head. Ponytail is just an expression for an impact of the character. I am a Korean.

Oh Sammy, he does not trying to be a girl, Korean men in ancient times used to have longer hairs, and you see in the beginning of the video that he has knot on his head is how men tie their hair before wearing gat because it is not appropriate in their society to wear your hair down. However, as for the king it is okay, so that's why he wear it down, actually, usually warrior or king wear it down like that, I believe there is one king in Korea who has scar on his eyes during Goryeo dynasty but i forgot the name. I mean the title is daechwita : Korean traditionnal music to mobilise the army and to tell : the king is out, so bow your head.... it was the music they played back in the Day when the King went outside of his palace, and mobilise the army... so clearly, all of the MV is a promotion of Korean tradictional culture. He even made a référence in his lyrics to one of the most blood thirsty king in korean history. It’s so fucking good.

The long hair with the ponytail is what most of korean mens hair looked like during historical times.
This MV is based on korean historical THEME. Blonde haired one is the KING. In Korean Dynasty you can't be the king if you have a scar on your body/face so Yoongi broke the stereotype and became the KING.
The version of him with blonde hair represents a king. Back in the day in Korea all men had long hair!

The title of the song is DAECHWITA (pronounced like de.chi.ta) in the Korean Joseon Dynasty, "Daechwita" is a song that is played when the new king is marching after he claimed his throne. It was like a ceremony song. That is why in the lyrics he says "Daechwita Daechwita play it louder daechwita" he was ordering that daechwita shoulde be played louder for he is marching.
These are all the korean traditional things. Even the clothes and the motivations of suga’s character. First of all, his character is inspired by a korean king in the past. To understand this mv, i think people should know some korea tradition.

It’s called Daejanggeum Park and it’s located about 50km outside Seoul in a city called Yongin (my adopted hometown for the past 6 years). If you haven’t already caught Kingdom seasons 1 and 2 on Netflix, do yourself a favour and watch it. I know how much you love production values. This period drama is like nothing you’ve ever seen before, especially the night shots.

I've been seeing people commenting here about how way back in the olden times, kings from many cultures but mainly Asian cultures would grow their hair out as a sign of their lineage and family legacy. Even though I didn't know that fact until reading the comments here, it was still very obvious to me when I watched the MV that it was cultural, as there are a whole lot of other things that point to it as well. The temple setting, the clothes he and most of the people in the MV were wearing, even down to the basic beat of the song. That and you've reacted to a few "Who are BTS" compilations where in atleast one they show V on the set of Hwarang, and has the exact same hairstyle. Like I said man, I really do like you and love your reactions but I think you just need to give a bit more focus on how you interpret things and then what you say following that. And I'm honestly saying this out of concern to you because there definitely will be people that are going to straight up give you shit about it

The palace in the background is a traditional Korean palace. And Daechitta is a military ritual that was played in the procession of a king or a nobleman and an army march. The contents of the movie, the acting of Suga, and the lyrics include the appearance and story of a Korean king (ex, Gwangjong), but it seems that Suga is an expression of a story that he wants to tell through the story of a Korean king.
