In his other Agust D album there's a track called The Last he said that "Min Yoongi is dead. I killed him." But this time he killed Agust D (The King) because he doesn't need a persona, like a mask to pretend that he's a celebrity anymore, because the little poor boy that he was just grew up and made it so now Agust D, Suga and Min Yoongi are the same person. It's my version of the MV... Because sometimes celebrity lose who they really are, they're quite like acting in front of the public...
The one he's wearing is actually a traditional clothing that only kings could wear. You see like traditionally asians grow hair of and take care of it which shows rank on society. If i wasn't wrong i can't remember the name of the king way back but he also has a scar. He was actually renowned for his ruthlessness and bravery for breaking the stereotypes of what kings would be. The fact that he has long hair is because he was representing how kings used to have it, this is a cultural thing because nearly all men used to have their hair long. And the reason he has a ponytail is because that is how they usually styled their hair. The king used to wear it like that. In fact women didn't style their hair that way. For more reference you can watch kdramas set in that time.
No. The king of Joseon did not do his hair like that. Kings didn't cut their hair but they did their hair like suga of the first scene MV and they put king's hat on their head. Ponytail is just an expression for an impact of the character. I am a Korean.
I’m very interested in Korean culture since 20 years ago and I’ve read somewhere that the long hair could show the high status of a person in society. The longer, the higher. It was a way to show that you belong to high society, Is that true ?
You seem to relate long hair to girls only, but he didn't have long hair in that shot bc he tried to look like a girl but bc he's portraying a king from the past. Long hair was the norm back then for both men and women, it was disrespectful to cut it because it is considered the legacy from the parents. Usually it was styled up in a bun like you could see the "commoners" in the beginning, or hidden under a hat (usually upper class, king, since the type of hat also showed that person's status).
Exactly. Even Indian kings had it. I mean just because western people don't read about our history, they don't have to be so arrogant. Even if I didn't in Europe, I know how European kings dressed in general. Idk why white people don't study general knowledge more.

However, as for the king it is okay, so that's why he wear it down, actually, usually warrior or king wear it down like that, I believe there is one king in Korea who has scar on his eyes during Goryeo dynasty but i forgot the name. Agust D. D-2 is a masterpiece. 🔥🔥🔥 From the instrumentals to the bass to the music to the lyrics to the meaning behind the lyrics to the Daechwita music video. Just everything is beyond amazing. This is the result of 4 years of built up anger, frustration, sadness, confusion and self doubt all poured into one album. The way they still convey the same emotions and thoughts. I just- I wasn't prepared for any of it. Yoongi I'm so proud of you 💜💜💜
The first building shown in this MV is supposed to be a palace. Also, Suga isn't meant to be dressed up as a woman when he's rocking the long blonde hair. That is how men of royalty styled their hair back in the Joseon Dynasty.
I mean, i understand that he doesn't really know asian culture (especially their history and way of dressing), since I didn't either before I knew BTS. But yea I agree it was a bit of a hasty conclusion. It was obvious from the mv that this was portraying korean history
Don’t worry we were all shook, I still am LOL. Also this song has so much meaning and small references. The whole album is fire. I’m so glad you listened and watched it so quick! Always love your reactions hehe
The title of the song is DAECHWITA (pronounced like de.chi.ta) in the Korean Joseon Dynasty, "Daechwita" is a song that is played when the new king is marching after he claimed his throne. It was like a ceremony song. That is why in the lyrics he says "Daechwita Daechwita play it louder daechwita" he was ordering that daechwita shoulde be played louder for he is marching.
All of his MV even the title is straight out of a sageuk drama. I mean the title is daechwita : Korean traditionnal music to mobilise the army and to tell : the king is out, so bow your head.... it was the music they played back in the Day when the King went outside of his palace, and mobilise the army... so clearly, all of the MV is a promotion of Korean tradictional culture. He even made a référence in his lyrics to one of the most blood thirsty king in korean history. It’s so fucking good.
These are all the korean traditional things. Even the clothes and the motivations of suga’s character. First of all, his character is inspired by a korean king in the past. To understand this mv, i think people should know some korea tradition.
I love your reactions! But I need to tell you: 1) long hair doesn't mean girly look 2) you said: "he could look entirely like a girl and I would still take him seriously".... maybe is just me, but sounds to me as if any other person "looking like a girl" is not worth be taken seriously (don't know if I said correctly.. english is not my first language). Plus, about Daechwita, this particular one is played when the king arrives... like a ceremony. At least that's what I read somewhere hehehe Keep up with the great content!
He basically said that if Suga dresses up as a girl for a skit or joke, he would still take Suga seriously, because Suga always has some message to tell us.
" A to the G to the u to the S T DeEeEeEEeee" Suga keeps bringing up things from his Agust D, and small bits from No more dream into the lyrics for this video and that ending symbolizes so many things.
@@borahaearmykez2921 Yes, I agree with this, Sam wasn't trying to be rude or something. But even if Yoongi wasn't playing the role of an ancient Asian king, WHAT IF MEN DO WEAR LONG HAIR? Where is the problem? Why does it make them look like girls? We need to change this kind of mentality.
Fact: Whenever Daechwita is played (the brass(small gong) and woodwind instrument sound in the intro and background), it means the King is coming. KING AGUST D! (He's wearing the traditional clothes of a King in this vid) - 'Daechwita' itself in its original sense is a genre of music back in Joseon Dynasty where it is played as an announcement that the ARMY is marching and/or the KING HIMSELF is coming. - Fun Fact: "Min" Suga aka AGUST D is actually of royal bloodline descent from the Yeoheung Min clan, the same clan where the last Empress of Korea is from. Also, "A.R.M.Y." is the official fandom name for BTS in which AGUST D is part of.
In Korea you can't be a king if you have scar on your body and suga had scar on his face in whole video which means he meant he is a king even with scar 👑❤️
Min Yoongi is all grown up and this is the integration of his personas from what I can tell. What a masterpiece! Thanks for doing this review right when the video has launched. Suga is going to top the charts! OMG!
None of us were ready....THE KING IS BACK TO BLESS US ALL 🙏🙏🙏 A new 10 track album AND an incredible MV?! It was my birthday yesterday but honestly this is the best present I could possibly have gotten. AGUST D IS ANOTHER LEVEL 🔥🔥🔥
Yet again Yoongi has left me speechless and manages to show me the reason why he is my all time number 1 favourite rapper in the whole of the music today
He’s sitting in the throne room of a “Korean palace” - it’s actually massive film set where they film Korean period dramas. It’s called Daejanggeum Park and it’s located about 50km outside Seoul in a city called Yongin (my adopted hometown for the past 6 years). If you haven’t already caught Kingdom seasons 1 and 2 on Netflix, do yourself a favour and watch it. I know how much you love production values. This period drama is like nothing you’ve ever seen before, especially the night shots.
I watched a lot of historical korean dramas and I'm often impressed with the quality of the sets but only really good ones have this level of details and the way it was shot is just beautiful! Crazy!
Ur reaction is the same with my reaction when first time I saw Daechwita MV 😅. Seems like he gave us surprise. As we know how he is in group BTS and then he done so amazing on his own great song... So different but very amazing way . OMG 😳 I really love this 💜💜💜💜 Thanks u so much for reaction this song 👍. God bless u, bro
I have never clicked so fast😂 Yoongi is king 👑 Also it was traditional in some Asian countries for men to grow their hair long and Yoongis outfit and hair represents their culture.
the last thing i thought about before i fell asleep last night was suga and today i woke up and after 10 mins , the mv release notification popped ! i was so not ready for this
I've watched so many reactions to this MV, and this is the only one I've seen that properly reacts to that beat change! Like, come on, people! That was incredible!
That place is a large outdoor set - basically a recreation of a royal palace and a traditional village- owned by MBC broadcasting. Lots of dramas/movies/ etc are filmed there. You can tour the place when there's no filming and it's absolutely stunning! The mountains are gorgeous too.
The hair and clothes of the temple yoongi are sort of traditional Korean king clothes btw (obviously not an expert but I’ve seen a few kdramas so it looks v familiar)
The place where they shoot the mv is one of the places where all korean historical dramas take place. In korea they preserved places which remind them of their culture
First scene is in a palace. Yoongi is sitting on a bench (for king). His uniform (top) is for “King” in the ancient time. Daechwita is the genre of Korean traditional music that play by military when the king go outside.
sir what the hell is "he could literally look fully like a girl, and I'd still take him seriously" supposed to mean? I'm gonna give you the benefit of the doubt and assume that was accidentally sexist. Loved the song, too, tho.
Pretty sure he meant Suga dressing up as a girl while being straight (just pretending to be a girl) and still he would take him seriously, even tho Suga would be trying to be funny (as he was in the RUN episode). Clearly, he was referring to Suga's COMEDIC INTENTION of portraying a girl as a STRAIGHT man, and not actually being feminine.. why do people get so easily offended nowadays...? The only mistake here was to assume that Suga is straight.
YES! OMG! THAT WAS SO PROBLEMATIC and nobody was talking about that. I wanna give him the benefit of the doubt too, but I don't know.. How he jump to "he's going to a girl's look" just because of the long hair was SO strange. Btw, sorry about my english! I'm from Brazil!
I’ve been waiting years for a Korean artist to embrace thousand of years of Korean traditional music and it has finally arrived. But they already did it as BTS switching up IDOL at the 2018 MMAs
Oh Sammy, you missed the traditional setting and costumes! The guy with the long hair is a tyrant king figure... The black haired guy is the peasant rebel. Historically, Korean warriors were considered beautiful. They wore make up!
Ellie P. You are so right. I was in too much of a hurry... I was referring to the elite warriors, the Hwarang. Anyway, for reviewers like Sammy, there is such a huge cultural gap to bridge because of the lack of exposure.... that sometimes one doesn’t know where to start! 😂
The palace in the background is a traditional Korean palace. And Daechitta is a military ritual that was played in the procession of a king or a nobleman and an army march. The contents of the movie, the acting of Suga, and the lyrics include the appearance and story of a Korean king (ex, Gwangjong), but it seems that Suga is an expression of a story that he wants to tell through the story of a Korean king. But I'm not sure yet, that's why I can't explain the song exactly. So I'll entrust the whole explanation(include details)to the experts :) (Sorry for the bad grammar...lol)
if you see the discription in the mv they put the location. the scenery is historical, the costume, the hair is all heritage. If you search tradisional korean movie, that is how all the kings dress.
You should listen and react to the whole AGUST D mixtape "D-2" please Its self-produced by Suga... And also the fact that this M/V doesn't have a *BIGHIT* intro means that Suga produced it himself... So proud of him💜

Also, Suga isn't meant to be dressed up as a woman when he's rocking the long blonde hair. That is how men of royalty styled their hair back in the Joseon Dynasty.
More accurately, Joseon dynasty 👍
"he could look like a girl and still take him seriously" the toxic masculinity jumped out
Indeed it has. I think it was just a reckless comment made on the spot but I would edit that out if it was me.
Glad I was not the only one who thought that...yikes! The whole long hair = girl was also very yikes...sadly cringing rn
I mean, i understand that he doesn't really know asian culture (especially their history and way of dressing), since I didn't either before I knew BTS. But yea I agree it was a bit of a hasty conclusion. It was obvious from the mv that this was portraying korean history
it happens i guess
@@xoluciaxo_3721 nothing to do with just Asian culture. They wore long hair in Europe as well.
Don’t worry we were all shook, I still am LOL. Also this song has so much meaning and small references. The whole album is fire. I’m so glad you listened and watched it so quick! Always love your reactions hehe
I was up at 5 a.m. and watched this on Weverse and VLive and on TH-cam from Big Hit Labels. I'm so happy. This is so genius
I ditched watching Yoongi's live to watch this😂
Same
same here HAHAHAHHAHA
im so sorry yoongi 🙁
Same hehe
Lmaoo same
love the Korean castle background. Love these reaction vids. thanks.
The version of him with blonde hair represents a king. Back in the day in Korea all men had long hair!
This is everything! The song is a bomb and agust d... O my god. We were waiting for this comeback and he just blow me away🤯💗💗🔥🔥🔥🔥
i get irritated because it's hard for me to understand how anyone can look at the clothes and hair and not realize it's traditional clothing 😅
saaaame. Im a girl from Brazil and its just so obvious that its just traditional clothes and hairstyle. How can people not see that? Lol
Exactly but I guess people from England don’t realise
All of his MV even the title is straight out of a sageuk drama. I mean the title is daechwita : Korean traditionnal music to mobilise the army and to tell : the king is out, so bow your head.... it was the music they played back in the Day when the King went outside of his palace, and mobilise the army... so clearly, all of the MV is a promotion of Korean tradictional culture. He even made a référence in his lyrics to one of the most blood thirsty king in korean history. It’s so fucking good.
S
People sometime don't use their brains
These are all the korean traditional things. Even the clothes and the motivations of suga’s character. First of all, his character is inspired by a korean king in the past. To understand this mv, i think people should know some korea tradition.
I love your reactions! But I need to tell you: 1) long hair doesn't mean girly look
2) you said: "he could look entirely like a girl and I would still take him seriously".... maybe is just me, but sounds to me as if any other person "looking like a girl" is not worth be taken seriously (don't know if I said correctly.. english is not my first language).
Plus, about Daechwita, this particular one is played when the king arrives... like a ceremony. At least that's what I read somewhere hehehe
Keep up with the great content!
He basically said that if Suga dresses up as a girl for a skit or joke, he would still take Suga seriously, because Suga always has some message to tell us.
@@nighthawk326 yeah... I thought that might be the case too... but to me sounded ambiguous... that's why I decided to write about.
@@nighthawk326 and thanks for the explanation
" A to the G to the u to the S T DeEeEeEEeee"
Suga keeps bringing up things from his Agust D, and small bits from No more dream into the lyrics for this video and that ending symbolizes so many things.
“he could look like a girl and still take him seriously” .... sammy what?
BTXTS MOARMY yeah i also kinda took it as if yoongi was a girl then he would take him seriously
So that's mean that he can't take girls seriously? Like...
that threw me off yikes
@@borahaearmykez2921 Yes, I agree with this, Sam wasn't trying to be rude or something. But even if Yoongi wasn't playing the role of an ancient Asian king, WHAT IF MEN DO WEAR LONG HAIR? Where is the problem? Why does it make them look like girls? We need to change this kind of mentality.
Pretty sure he didn't mean it like that but yeah sounds weird
Fact: Whenever Daechwita is played (the brass(small gong) and woodwind instrument sound in the intro and background), it means the King is coming. KING AGUST D! (He's wearing the traditional clothes of a King in this vid)
-
'Daechwita' itself in its original sense is a genre of music back in Joseon Dynasty where it is played as an announcement that the ARMY is marching and/or the KING HIMSELF is coming.
-
Fun Fact: "Min" Suga aka AGUST D is actually of royal bloodline descent from the Yeoheung Min clan, the same clan where the last Empress of Korea is from. Also, "A.R.M.Y." is the official fandom name for BTS in which AGUST D is part of.
In Korea you can't be a king if you have scar on your body and suga had scar on his face in whole video which means he meant he is a king even with scar 👑❤️
Sammy: "It's probably got 2 million views right now"
TH-cam: let's freeze views
But we got 2 million likes when you released the video
Lol yes
Now it has 21million views & #1 trending 👍
And now it has 24 mil views lol
Maybe he has broke a record who knows lol
his blond hair is in a typical ancient korean hairstyle if i remember correctly!! men typically had long hair, half up half down
Yesss Sammy I was waiting for this reaction!!! Okay imma watch it now
"he could literally look like a girl and i'd still take him seriously" apologize for that NOW
Min Yoongi is all grown up and this is the integration of his personas from what I can tell. What a masterpiece! Thanks for doing this review right when the video has launched. Suga is going to top the charts! OMG!
A to the G to the U to the S-T-D! Give this boy the Grammy 👏🏼
None of us were ready....THE KING IS BACK TO BLESS US ALL 🙏🙏🙏
A new 10 track album AND an incredible MV?!
Long hair in traditional Korea was a symbol of high status, it was actually a huge deal and an immense punishment if you had your hair cut off! :)
I watched a lot of historical korean dramas and I'm often impressed with the quality of the sets but only really good ones have this level of details and the way it was shot is just beautiful! Crazy!
The way u said stdddd in the beginning sent me 😂
Ur reaction is the same with my reaction when first time I saw Daechwita MV 😅. Seems like he gave us surprise. As we know how he is in group BTS and then he done so amazing on his own great song... So different but very amazing way . OMG 😳 I really love this 💜💜💜💜
Thanks u so much for reaction this song 👍. God bless u, bro
long hair doesn’t have anything to do with being with a girl, sammy ik you’re not that well educated in asian culture but still ...
Sophiamlb Brown right!? I’m like c’mon wtf *eye-rolling*
It's in European culture aswell actually
Aliii Rxsa That makes his comment even more confusing
﴾͡๏̯͡๏﴿ O'RLY? In Europe long hair was normal too
By far, very best of Agust D. Gives me chills and idk why! Excellent visuals, vocals, music, production, etc! Whew!! 💜 Tore it up!
I have never clicked so fast😂 Yoongi is king 👑
Also it was traditional in some Asian countries for men to grow their hair long and Yoongis outfit and hair represents their culture.
the last thing i thought about before i fell asleep last night was suga and today i woke up and after 10 mins , the mv release notification popped !
i was so not ready for this
At 1:00 in the MV Jin and Jungkook are at the back fighting btw
Suga is the best and the fastest rapper in the world 💜💜💜🔥
My favorite rapper Always , Savage king
I'm so early... watching Sam and Yoongi's YT live rn💜💜💜
I've watched so many reactions to this MV, and this is the only one I've seen that properly reacts to that beat change! Like, come on, people! That was incredible!
Daechwita is a sound or music or instrument cultural Korean for when a King or Army is arriving on a plase
3:47
Did you see Jin and Jungkook fighting?
I THOUGHT I RECOGNIZED THEM
WOW SAMMY YOU DID ALREADY THIS REACTION TO THE NEWEST AUGUST D Daechwita MV
3:46 he bumped into jin and jungkook starting fighting jin in the background if you noticed haha
the filming location wasn’t a temple it’s a palace that korean royalty used to live in! thank you for the reaction :D
We've Bang PD dancing, Jinkook Fighting and Vmin showing a drawing of Bang PD face 😂😂😂
i know a lot of people are spreading that that is vmin, but its not, just so you know
*Daechwita* is actually a type of sound played when the king arrives
He is honestly one of the best rappers in the world
First scene is in a palace.
I agree. I mean, if he was looking "like a girl" (whatever that means), why should you not take him seriously?
Best reactor even, listens to the song clearly and Perfectly.
HE BIAS WRECKED US ALL
I’ve been waiting years for a Korean artist to embrace thousand of years of Korean traditional music and it has finally arrived.
Just hwarangs
Jinkook in the background had me dead lol
HIS REACTION ARE WHOLE MY MOOD THANK YOU
"He could look like a girl and I would still take him seriously"
I know you probably didn't mean it like that but that sounds really misogynistic
Ikr
And homophobic...
if you see the discription in the mv they put the location. the scenery is historical, the costume, the hair is all heritage. If you search tradisional korean movie, that is how all the kings dress.
You didn't notice man, JIN AND JUNGKOOK CAMEO 🤣 they fighting behind Yoongi
that market village is a permanent set that they use for many historical dramas. It's not really lived in, it's just a set.
You should listen and react to the whole AGUST D mixtape "D-2" please
Its self-produced by Suga... And also the fact that this M/V doesn't have a *BIGHIT* intro means that Suga produced it himself... So proud of him💜
What a superb video and song. They just never let up! All salute Agust D, his firebreathing, his use of traditional music and costume and the fact he holds nothing back, long may he reign!
lmao i love how jinkook is in the back fighting
LMOA🤣🤣
