True, Diem has a slightly different set-up but also want to conduct politics across/over national borders. It has not the same pan-european core as Volt, neither does the other party we discussed (Pirate Party) but all three step beyond the national focus that traditional parties hold to.

Please add a definition whenever you use the word "populist". My favourite one is "polician pretending to defend the "good" populace against the "corrupt" elite" . The word "nationalist" is vague too. Just because you want your native language/culture to have some territory doesn't mean that you want to shove it down the rest of the world's throat (which would be chauvinist), nor that you don't care about nastiness happening abroad

I think keeping the Euro and the common internal market but abolishing the EU might be slightly impossible. But yes, hopefully reforms will improve the EU to work well for all of us:)
I'm annoyed that Volt acts as though this is revolutionary. The Green parties came up with this decades ago. The EGP is the first European party, federal out of necessity, not conviction. The Greens, many liberals, and many social democrats have always supported trans-European parties and lists. I hope Volt gets this done, and then makes itself obsolete/dissolves into the liberals. We have too many parties in eg the NL already.
It might not be very different but there are some clear ones. The EGP indeed is a European party (or group), but more in the traditional sense. It still is a confederation of many different national parties though. They each ran with their own national programmes and names during the 2019 EP elections. Volt however ran with exactly the same programme in 2019. If successful this is an important step toward transnational parties. NB. The Volt MEP is currently also part of the EGP. Which highlights that parties within the EGP can differ quite a lot from each other.
@@Ciceroni1 I think you're confusing the EGP with the Greens/EFA. The EGP member parties sit in the Greens/EFA, but Volt (nor the EFA parties) aren't members of the EGP. And the EGP has both a European programme, as well as national ones. But again, that is by necessity, not conviction. The EGP and all its member parties are pro trans national lists and pan European parties (at at the European level anyway).

Where Volt campaigned explicitly with 1 programme, the same name etc. The EGP campaigned as national parties. While they might have common positions, I don't think voters have the feeling they are voting for something besides their national party. This is a new approach by Volt. Wouldn't you agree? PS. I do agree that the EGP with very similar names (when translated) and similar party programmes is already a step towards transnational parties. The parties would prefer to not run for the EP, but instead have one EGP run for which they campaign. So I dislike that Volt pretends it's so revolutionary, while the EGP (and sorta the PES) already support this kind of structure, but the way European elections work limits them from doing what Volt does. Of course Volt kinda succeeded where they failed, but I'd like the acknowledgement? I would've liked for Volt to not have formed a party but instead some kind of collective that strongly encouraged and pressured Greens, Liberals, and Social Democrats to pursue their European mission more or smth. I also think that would've been more effective.

In case transnational parties would formally fully exist: Do you think the for example GroenLinks would stop campaigning as themselves for EP elections, but instead campaign solely for the EGP? That means they lose influence and money because they as GroenLinks formally don't have seats in EP. Also Volt formally had the same limitations in how the EU elections work. They decided to form a party that internally already acts like a European party, instead of a collection of national parties. This is a choice the Greens also had/have. As for encouraging others: they do have very concrete proposals on how to change the EU electoral system and their MEP does work on this in Brussels I believe.
Centralisation under the guise of democratisation is not a solution for broad underlying dissent. What’s best for all Europeans may not be best for Europeans in the Eastern bloc. Thinking that the voices of the minority populist nations can be drowned out by the larger states is not a long term strategy for unity. It’s because of this that Volts ambitions will never materialise. Even if they obtain a great reception in the west you can be sure that the visegrad states will not comply and harden their resolve against the EU. This ultimately sets up the same dynamic that existed between the EU and UK before Brexit.
@@aussiegod4269 Volt has chapters in countries across Europe, including Visegrad countries, that contribute to policy as do those in the Benelux. Do you not think they could represent the voice of the people in those countries?
@@Ciceroni1 Democratisation would suggest that countries with majority population centres will have a greater say in EU policies which are for the most part in opposition to the political values of Eastern bloc nations. It’s similar to how in the US more populated states can field more representatives to congress which leaves unpopulated states on the margins of the political lens. Now you might say that why dont the Eastern European states just boost their population through mass migration. Well the fact is they have seen the costs associated with such a Ponzi scheme in the west and don’t want to go down that same route, instead opting for natural growth. So the conundrum still lies that these countries will ultimately be sidelined.
All these 3 parties support immigrant quotas*, as well as making it easier for immigrants from Asia and Africa to cross over to Europe (=Germany, etc.). Meanwhile, countries like Germany are now only 74% german, the rest being immigrants from the south. Those parties (along with most big mainstream parties) support this steady population replacement. Athens, where I live, is now 30% non white. So it is going to be Orban/Salvini/Le Pen, etc. for me. * Immigrant quotas means that a freemason government in Greece will keep allowing immigrants coming, then these must be (according to aslo freemason Volt/Pirates/Diem) redistributed to Sweden, Germany, Poland, Hungary, Finland. I mean, guys. It's not rocket science.
It certainly isnt rocket science :) Politics is much less clear. Several parties want to make it easier for immigrants to follow a legal route, rather than only having an illegal one. This does not per se mean there will be more immigrants. Of course, you have every right to vote for Orban/Le Pen etc. if you prefer the Europe they envisage. That's the nice thing about democracy :)
