I heard them playing at the Hilton in New Orleans; ground floor. In the background the train station. Only for five people (the public!). In the pause at the bar: "where do you come from? From Europe? Oh man, there they really do appreciate our music. Here they don't!" For me it was very special to meet these fantastic musicians!! PS: I am now 78, it must be a very long time ago......
Hey, I FINALLY reached "maturity" enough - age 81 to truly appreciate Lockjaw and Sweets. Why it took this long is a blue fog to me but WTH!! Thank you...

Satin Doll at 41.39 not But Beautiful. But the whole thing is Beautiful 😁
lockjaw lock it up!!!
...the parts played by stand-up basses in all jazz pieces--pretty sure if one is in rhythm, one could play any note combination and it would work...
所謂ゴキゲンて言うヤツ!
Track 4 is But Beautifil track 5 Satin Doll

Lockjaw Davis could play circles around Coltrane. Almost all of the truly great tenor players are dead.
and trane might build a pyramid around jaws
Last track skips.
