Ladies and Gentleman this is the Golden period - 1988 to 1996. What a great period for HipHop Music. Some many different styles of HipHop, plus the RAPPERS were had their own style as well.. From Gran Puba to Common, from Chuck D to Q-tip, from Busta Rhymes to Snoo Dogg. Hip Hop music best period hands down.
...days when THE SOURCE and THE VIBE were the epitome of the HIP HOP CULTURE, when oversized jerseys and baggy jeans were cool, when you saved all your pennies to get the latest hiphop compilation, when hiphop beef was raw, emotional and could alienate you from your peers, when your parents didn't understand why you were into the "weird" music, when hiphop actually meant you belonged to a urban elite group that no only the few initiates could understand...yes those were days!!!
@@mattmurphy2755 you must be an A T C Q diehard fan to say that🕵. I liked atcq's presence on this Soundtrack, yet Peace Prosperity, & Paper beat dragged too much...I mean, I liked it but it wasn't mixed/equalized right. This The Rap World track was very unique and kinda stood out from the rest of the tracks because it was Two Producers spitting some of the hottest lyrics, the beat was hot, and the hook was fire. It could have been on rotation on every major radio...damn they could've actually made a whole album together....hell they could've created a whole album both of them produced with OthEr rappers spitting on it. This track alone embodied so much potential. Heck even Biggies last words to Pete Rock was "That shit you and Large Professor did? ...Shit is hot".🔥
I met Pete Rock twice, and Greg Nice. Th3y do boat parties in NYC every year. I missed this year's tho. Yo Greg Nice is the livest cat performing lol. So much energy. Pete Rock goes by DJ puma as a dj
at 2:56 one is reminded that these cats are masters of the craft...Pete Rock in particular is one of the foundations of my sound in my productions, Preem is the first. peace and blessings to Large Pro that's a master right there facts!
I used to dj a underground hip hop college show and loved playing this record. I remember having the EP version with a warp so I couldn't cut it in so had to be careful on the mix in. Had the LP too but it wasn't a clean version.
Wish I could've caught that video. The subtle swing, ghost notes and changes in the drums make it sound so complex. I've been sitting on a beat for about 1-2 years because I can't pick out what I want to duplicate from the drums of this track. I don't want to get it wrong and feel like I can't accomplish what I want
yoooooooooooooooooooooooooo just got this in BOSTON YOOOOOO last ONE I LOVE ITTTT in APRIL NEWBURY COMICS only 2 dollarss ahhhh GOD I LOVE THIS SHITTTT i REMEMBER WHEN MR LEN PLAYED THIS on SUCIO SMASH SHOW BEFORE IT ALL ENDED AND ITS IN MY HEART FOREVER STRAIGHT UP AND DOWN PEOPLE
This track is perfect just the way it is. It woulda been wavy if they made a video though. Some other rappers I could picture on this beat are Slick Rick, CL Smooth, Rakim, and maybe even Nas or Biggie. Only few rappers could pull off bars on this smooth ass beat.
People DO know that this is every bit Large Professor's song as it is Pete Rock's, right? And, since Pete DOESN"T WRITE HIS RHYMES, this becomes even more of a song by LARGE PROFESSOR!!! I love both producers though. But, RHYMEWISE, The Soul Brother can NEVER touch The Mad Scientist!!!
Whoever said anything about CL Smooth?! Unless you're implying that he writes Pete Rock's rhymes, in which case you're almost completely wrong. There's only ONE song CL wrote PR's rhymes in and that's What's Next On The Menu. And CL and LP are simply too incomparable to each other to put them in a contest.
Some sample rhymes I wrote to this beat. Hope you like.... This guy MJB I wonder who is he does he spit hot fire consistently? or is he a mere person who raps with immaturity? he's an emcee who's introverted and mysterious don't be ridiculous he's not inconspigious for him rarely writing rhymes is inevitable he hates competition so he's noncompetible it's not theoretical he's incredibly poetical inside the hip hop world he should be eligible his raps can be rougher than a brillo pad scrubbing rappers staining hip hop which y'all should be glad it makes me mad all this commercialism is a fad it brings out the ignorance in people which is truly sad his lyrical whimsiness is his expertism the bars he spit can fuck with your head like an aneurism haters with skepticism give out massive criticism it's clear as a prism when he rhymes he drops wisdom he never raps about hustling rocks or cocking glocks starting trouble or letting off shots down the block just because he's peaceable it doesn't make him soft a non-violent persona is weak; your facts are way off he's also a mediocre vernacularist like Keith Murray "the most beautifullest vocabularist" dropped a few rhymes he seldomly got dissed maybe they're jealous cuz' they can't drop jewels like this it's a shame these fake rappers are idolized all the bullshit they express is greatly emphasized the morality and love for the music is minimized the deterioration of the real hip hop they fail to realize
Timeless beat.
Two producers with great flow, along with great beats. unstoppable

And they rap circles around today's "rap artists." Fucking shame how Hip Hop regressed. Blessed to have experienced the golden era of rap.

🏭! That part always cuts through this track in a way that is truly unforgettable and second to none. The beat is mesmerizing to this day
It cant get more hip-hop than fhis. Only equal levels of hip-hop but never more.
Classic Hip Hop from Pete Rock and Large Professor.I bought this album right after I seen the movie.Movie funny AF too lol

1996
Me too I bought the sound track a week after I saw the move
An extremely dope soundtrack to a forgettable movie!
This joint puts me in my sweet spot!
One of the best calabo! New yawk!
According to Complex, Large Professor said Pete really handled most of the beat. He just added little tid bits.
phrsh293 He did indeed say that. He added the vocal samples...
Given how bottom heavy it is that's Pete rock signature to his beats....Pete always used these real muted basslines
Worn out Testicles Well Large Pro said it during an interview with them
I used to dj a underground hip hop college show and loved playing this record. I remember having the EP version with a warp so I couldn't cut it in so had to be careful on the mix in. Had the LP too but it wasn't a clean version.
This makes me shake my torso, and also, I love it!
Legends...

Get your booms and your baps right son.
Love the chocolate voice of Pete Rock.

I've never thought of any other rappers being on this track and resent you putting that thought into my head. 😂
Q Tip, Busta, and Meth.
Jose G Nahhh lol maybe Tip but idk...Busta and Meth flows are more aggressive this is a laid back joint.
Ken Talks haha
Jose G matter fact I could kinda hear them on this actually

Cont1 - Can you imagine if Q-tip and Guru were on this Ryming the verses instead. This is heaven already, but words escape me if that ever happened

KILLIN THE SP!
This soundtrack owns.
This is what their album would have sounded like. Too bad it got shelved.
i like this....
Dope track
yez def classic shit
They shoulda made an album during this era , oh well
shit cold
Candle lit
Some sample rhymes I wrote to this beat. Hope you like....
This guy MJB I wonder who is he
does he spit hot fire consistently?
or is he a mere person who raps with immaturity?
he's an emcee who's introverted and mysterious
don't be ridiculous he's not inconspigious
for him rarely writing rhymes is inevitable
he hates competition so he's noncompetible
it's not theoretical he's incredibly poetical
inside the hip hop world he should be eligible
his raps can be rougher than a brillo pad
scrubbing rappers staining hip hop which y'all should be glad
it makes me mad all this commercialism is a fad
it brings out the ignorance in people which is truly sad
his lyrical whimsiness is his expertism
the bars he spit can fuck with your head like an aneurism
haters with skepticism give out massive criticism
it's clear as a prism when he rhymes he drops wisdom
he never raps about hustling rocks or cocking glocks
starting trouble or letting off shots down the block
just because he's peaceable it doesn't make him soft
a non-violent persona is weak; your facts are way off
he's also a mediocre vernacularist
like Keith Murray "the most beautifullest vocabularist"
dropped a few rhymes he seldomly got dissed
maybe they're jealous cuz' they can't drop jewels like this
it's a shame these fake rappers are idolized
all the bullshit they express is greatly emphasized
the morality and love for the music is minimized
the deterioration of the real hip hop they fail to realize
PETE ROCK
HIPHOP. WORD
i cant fuckin find this album anywhere
The boy Wonder
I wonder why they never did an album together
🔥✨🔥
@mcf1112 , imagine if they did a whole album together back then
