I can’t even imagine how good the water must feel for a dog with fur when it’s hot I think people forget dogs don’t sweat they can only cool themselves by panting cooling the blood that goes through their tongues. Jumping in a pool is got to be close to bliss
I am a firm believer that every kid should be allowed to grow up with a doggie. Studies have shown that there are so many amazing benefits for kids who have a canine brother or sister! I feel bad for kiddos that dont have a doggie in their family. The bond between a pupper and his human sibling is beyond description

We had a golden retriever and she always had such a pleasure to swim. She spent hours in the water, she loved it. We had to keep a close eye on her in the winter so she wouldn't jump into the freezing water. Actually Labradors and Retrievers were bred in the UK to do that, when a hunter shot a duck while hunting and it fell into the water, these dogs would swim in and fetch the duck. Therefore, they are excellent swimmers and are not afraid of very cold water.

I have a service dog that is part yellow lab. He is a rescue and the previous owner was cruel with water, so the only time I have seen him even close to jumping into water is when someone might be in trouble in the water. Lol
