Great video Paul. My advice to any new visitor to Macedonia is to just enjoy yourself and don't get sucked into or weighed down by the politics of the area. You're never going to win anyway and you are bound to offend someone no matter how carefully you tread. Obviously, I would prefer it if you call our homeland simply Macedonia. However, Stavros from across the border will insist you call it North Macedonia and the comments section to any Macedonian video will deteriorate in no time. So, to sum up, ignore the politics and make the most of Macedonia when visiting. Besides Ohrid there are amazing hiking opportunities to be had at Pelister, Galichica & Mavrovo national parks. I highly recommend these.
I also hadn't heard of it until I was in the Balkans. I was actually going to Kosovo but changed my bus at the last minute after learning I'd need a pcr test for kosovo and didn't need for N Macedonia
Paul you really enjoyed these trips , Eastern Europe , or Balkan region is not so well promoted in West , so ,you experience yourself travelling in Romania, Serbia, Montenegro, Macedonia etc , many places ready to be discovered and many places are beautiful to visit and to relax when you are in holiday...also you as westerner , from your point of view , Balkans is not expensive at all for your budget !
So true Dan. I feel like the whole region is like a massive hidden gem. Westerners in general don't know much about Eastern Europe or the Balkans. Literally every place I went to was a massive surprise. There are travel vlogs on TH-cam but almost nothing on regular TV promoting this part of the world. Also the budget. As you say, It's very affordable for people living in the western countries. I think you'll see a massive influx of people traveling around Romania etc in the coming years. I've been contacted by some travel vloggers asking me about Romania. These are people that make videos in Ireland, UK and more western European countries. Traveling around Romania is the most recommended trip I could advise anyone considering an active holiday.
New to the channel Paul. Great videos mate. Nice Irish charm to them and lovely drone footage. Heading on a solo motorbike trip from Dublin to Turkey this summer, and it’s guys like you that encourage the rest of us to give it a try. Happy travels pal 👍🏻

I’ve an interailing holiday planned this summer and half of it still to book, wonder what advice you have for how long to stay in each of the cities, theyre Belgrade, Montenegro(Budva probably), Sarajevo and Zagreb. Basically there’s a hole in between Budapest and bled that I haven’t booked yet and wondering how long to stay in each place, or even if there’s anywhere else you’d recommend going
What time of year was this? I note the post is in January 2022, but I'm guess this is in summer. I''m just wondering if its still warm at beginning of Oct........
