    Great review, Grant. As a small clarification, the deck additions are based on significant changes in the Great War (World War 1) such as the Treaty of Brest-Litovsk being offered (or refused) and Germany surrendering to the Western Allies, so unless you are playing the historical game (cards in order of history), the later decks can be entered in early with plenty of earlier cards still being active to offset how the "later" cards are sometimes more menacing or limited. Of course, there are more cards that drive out Fronts in the added decks too. After a while, you get a sense of what "cards are in play" and that can affect decision making. That being said, very impressed with a 40% win ratio. I have been told 17% is more common, but you must be an excellent player!

    Got Malta Besiged on KS. Should have added this but I chose in magnificent style instead of getting all three, feel like that was a bad move!

    Trying to decide between this one and Cruel Necessity. Besides the historical period, any preference? Is one more luck driven than the other?

    Thanks for the review Grant,I've had my eye on this one.Ben Madison does a great job with the States of Siege Games,Namely "Jeff Davis',but this is a topic thats not discussed very much.

      I love Jeff Davis and have had a very good experience with that one just have not done a review or playthrough. It is a long game, and I sometimes get very frustrated with the commerce and how you get money as it can really be devastating but it is a really great game.

      I haven’t played any of Bens games. But have loved the SOS games. Jeff Davis is a good one to check out you say? Mission and white tribe are his two highest rated on BGG ones so all three intrigue me.

      @@wtrollkin I was wanting a civil War themed game and this was highly rated.I've played it twice and lost both times but thoroughly enjoyed playing it.It does take a while to play but really conveys the feeling of what the Confederates had to go through to stay in the war..Highly recommended!

    This looks like the small bag portfolio game called Soviet dawn? Just a different board. Am I right on this? I think it was by Victory point

    • @ThePlayersAid
      @ThePlayersAid  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, Worthington got the rights for many of the States of Siege games, and giving them the deluxe reprint treatment. This is one of such.

    Quick question for the two of you or for the audience at large. I'm looking for good three player wargames like Memoir 44 or Undaunted Normandy to play with my 12 & 14 year olds. They are experienced gamers so it can be more complicated than those two, but that's about the weight/time commitment I'm shooting for. Any recommendations? Thanks in advance!

      3 player games are hard to come by but Combat Commander and Commands & Colors are good simpler systems that can be played in 45 minutes to 90 minutes.

    • @StackingLimit
      @StackingLimit 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have to agree with Grant here Commands and Colors works well for younger players. I have not tried combat commander with younger players yet but assume it would work well too. The hold the line series from Worthington Publishing is a little more complex but equally good for younger players. None are made specifically for 3 players.

      Triumph and Tragedy (GMT) is a really good three player game. Bright kids should like it. Brotherhood and Unity is also quite good for three players, but maybe a little to heavy for a 12 year old. Titan isn't really a war game, but works well.

      Try the 2-4 player wargames from Academy Games (1812, 1775, 1754, 878, etc.) probably best at 4 but still excellent at 2 or 3 and just right for your other criteria.

    The Soviets were fighting the provisional government. The Czar had already been overthrown and replaced by a representative democracy.

    Grant mate, enjoy your videos but... there is no such word in the English language as 'deluxified', 'deluxification' etc. It's simply 'the game had been upgraded into a deluxe edition', which is a little clunky to say, I admit. Had to get it out there 😉
