Need a good Pyramid Lake chironomid? This Canadian style (my own naming convention) bomber chironomid is a great one to learn. Fashioned after patterns from guys like Brian Chan and Phil Rowley, this is a great fly for the box.

Beauty Curtis! 👍🏻🇨🇦 Loon is good. Bit of a 'buzzer' style chironomid, why the Canadian style?

I've seen probably more Canadian tyers (Phil Rowley, Brian Chan and others) tie this style hook, ASB and heavier beads than other regions. Certainly not unique but definitely ubiquitous there.

What size ladder do I use with this fly? Also, does the ladder have to be camo or is chartreuse OK too?

10 ft should be fine for ladder size. Idk about the color... 🤔 I go with bare aluminum...

I use a standard 5 foot latter. But these chronamids tend to fish better on rocky beaches like pelican

@Jameson Hardcastle fiberglass works well too. A bit bulky to carry but they're very sturdy. 10' extension imo
