Apologies for looking very red, but I guess it fits the theme of being an angry Viking well 😂 I bought a new green screen and when light reflects from it it apparently turns me red, so I'll have to figure that out
Fun fact: thorn (þ) used to be a letter in the Old and Middle English languages. When the printing press came about, English texts were printed using imported machines from the Netherlands, where the letter was not used. Thus, the ‘y’ was used instead. For example, the first printing of the King James Version of the Bible in 1611 used ‘ye’ for ‘the’.
I don't know if anyone else has said this, but the event that triggers at the start of the spanish civil war is a reference to EU4, where you would occasionally get an event called comet that lowered your stability by 1, but had 5 options to do so, which the options on the new event here are almost exact copies of.
When I declared on Denmark they immediately joined the allies, I declared at the same time frame as in the video. I still got the event and said I would protect Denmark, Denmark then signed a peace treaty with the UK but I'm still at war with the UK...
so... i don't know what changed since you made this video, BUT: -Invading the Netherlands still works fine - Germany does weird stuff like manually justifying on belgium and Luxembourg mid 1938 - France somehow has 90 divisions stacked on the border by the time you are in any way ready to take them on - Your 'fleet" just dies to the UK instantly there is no way to get through the channel and they don't leave for whatever reason - despite the 35% attack buff you can't break through the french lines - Germany refuses to attack, they end up at war with Czechoslovakia and they just don't cap them even though they could, leading to them bleeding all the artillery you would otherwise get through lend lease. i don't know man, something's off. I usually get your strats to work even if the video is a year old but this one... seems impossible
On trying this strategy in depth I would advise players to save-scum before declaring war on the Netherlands. You need to take Amsterdam, Rotterdam and any other city to ensure they surrender. Rotterdam is *very* tricky to take with those basic divisions...
Thanks, having issues with the Netherlands. Got it on the first two tries but screwed up the rest of my game, now I keep getting bad RNG in Netherlands
When that viking spirit hits... Awaken, awaken, awaken, awaken Take the land, that must be taken Awaken, awaken, awaken, awaken Devour worlds, smite forsaken Rise up from your thousand year-old sleep Break forth from your grave eternally I command you to rise, rise, rise, rise
Thanks - that was a masterpiece, which I am thinking I am not going to be able to follow, but I will try. What was the deal with the 1 GER sub - to have some minimal naval supremacy to invade HOL ? I guess the Dutch navy was just asleep ? 10 hrs til release. Cheers, MMM
I'll let one of you guys take that title! Although it honestly wouldn't be incredibly hard after what we already accomplished plus the 35% attack bonus!
Amazing video. I just don't get why Paradox decide to give Iceland a national spirit for Christian X but not Denmark ! It's doesn't make any sense ! They should have Christian X as a national spirit !!!!
When I did my Commie Iceland (to get the Brexit achievement) I did some of the brown party focuses as well to get the extra bonuses. Do you think it's worth doing a few Commie ones when going brown or would that eat too much time?
Yeah, I've redone it step-by-step 5 times, and Germany justifies on Luxembourg right after Sudetenland, bringing the war to the Allies. I'm on the beta patch, so they may have broken AI behaviour since you recorded@@hatless_spider
@DanielStaniforth hmm interesting. This shouldn't stop you from being able to still get the netherlands defeated though, right? But it will prevent a 100% icelandic defeat of the allies then since germany will be joining in unless you are fast
Yeah, so I defeat the Netherlands in early August 1838. Germany fabricates a wargoal on Luxembourg for October. By the time they call me into the war the British navy is out and protecting their coast and even landing on Iceland. I rolled back from the beta and it's still happening. What version did you do it on?@@hatless_spider
In hindsight because of the advisor with 20% noncore manpower, I probably could have simply annexed. I'm just used to puppeting them and using their manpower in that way
I can't quite hear what you said. Did you say, "The might of Poor?" That symbol which looks like a midget P is called a thorn, and it represents the "TH" sound.

@@chianghighshrek surprised you didn't say anything
You're not usually shy about that 😄
@@hatless_spider i sent a message in stream chat saying that you just didn't notice
@chianghighshrek ah lol i try to read all of them but apparently dropped the ball
Can you do something with the colour balance of whatever camera you are using? The new green screen might require a different RGB balance.
Þór is Thor. The thing you're seeing as a P is þ, pronounced "th"
I suspected this but had no idea lol
More butchered pronunciations for me...it is tradition 😁
@@hatless_spiderI did notice how you pronounced a lot of Asian places, it has some charm to it though

Same as ð which is th but for like though which is not going air through your teeth
Informative and comprehensive but not boring presentation. You're not overdoing it as well. Got yourself a new subscriber.
Welcome!
I am always amazed what can be done with a small/tiny nation in this game.
Even before the DLC you could propel Iceland to the top.
Nice video also to say Iceland is busted is an understatement, just wow.
Only with my method 😉
18:24 I didn’t even know that was possible, I figured they were mutually exclusive like the skills they unlock
New great video!
Mic is better than in previous videos thou

You can get a 4th research slot from the "international Research Community" focus in the communist branch.

Working on getting more 😁

Why did you get over 3 Million manpower after annexing the allies? Just non core manpower before the 20% advisor?
Yeah annexing India is a really big part of that!

@@hatless_spider Does Iceland get bicycle divisions though? Might save on some trucks if they do 🤔
Ive seen so much viking icelands, but no historical iceland
@millio6238 not true, it probably had a weaker focus tree
Bittersteel says Hello! He mentioned your video. So here I am. Have a good day!
Re Denmark, I think you needed to improve their opinion to at worst -50 - because you already were worse in their eyes.
Nice! +1 from Bitt3rSteel
Lore of How to Make Viking Iceland a POWERHOUSE!! HOI4 momentum 100
How did you get first day naval invade? Hasn't seemed to work for a few DLCs now
Ah yes the resurgence of Viking empire 🇮🇸🗿👌😎👍✊💀
I'd love to really enjoy this video the downside is I can't really pay attention with a really loud music in the background
12:30 I think thy are pronounced Frey-yah and Thor
I got to the dutch peace conference and then forgot to get resource rights and war reps at the same time as puppeting the indes. So I was locked out
What is the ambience music in the background? I like how chill it is, it gives a good atmosphere for Iceland.
Thanks for the video, it's very good, but the music is making me very sleepy
Thanks for the feedback! I actually thought the same, and told my editor that in the future we will use it in smaller pieces or use other music 🙂
Great video, I love playing the Soviet Union and assassinating Stalin some of these strategies would put them over the top

Was gonna use this as my first proper guide to a nation but I don't have the DLC :((
How were you able to get the 50% naval supremacy for the invasion of england?
Lets go!
AND the "J" in Freyja is a "Y" sound. THorr and FreYa. That province in Denmark? It's pronounced "Yutland."
I have many lessons to learn 😁😁
A lot more RNG to this than expected. I would randomly have Germany manually justify on things like Luxembourg, starting the war in 1938
Hmm so they were at war with the allies early then?
I'm not certain what would cause that
