The subscription is completely un-needed never have had a need for it on my remarkables, its just cloud backup , You can just plug the tablet in and do the same stuff.
Subscription is also a bit of an issue for me, I would like to use it within my Works networks (i.e. LAN) but could get around that by loading PDFs via USB.
Tell me, if e-book devices consume little energy and are often used for reading in direct sunlight, then why not release covers with flexible solar panels to get an "endless" battery charge, connected via a universal magnetic connector

@@sunduckjo you could do that I guess but I'm not sure continuous charging is good for li-ion batteries. You might end up degrading it pretty fast
Which will be the first manufacturer with: Gallery 3 color with 300 ppi 11.8"+ screen Android for apps, and for cloud backups with no subscription They'll get my money.
I'm on the horns of a dilemma with this Paper Pro device. For a narrow use case for my work I need as large a screen as I can get. I make notes on PDFs floor plan when out on the field. I have been using a black-and-white Boox Tab-X, which is 13.3". I prefer the very close to pencil on paper feel that most E-ink devices have, it makes my hand writing almost legible. Colour would be very nice. I am currently considering a Samsung Galaxy Tab s9 Ultra, partly because it's up-to-date with the latest Android OS, so I could install the Corporate IT security software and get access inside our networks. I have just been drawing some actual size rectangles to compare the screen sizes of the old Boox Tab-X, the Samsung S9 Ultra and this new reMarkable Paper Pro Colour. I think the reMarkable at 11.8" is a bit too small. It's only fractionally larger than Boox's Tab Ultra C @ 10.3". I would love a 13.3" colour E-ink device, I could live with Kaleido. For reference in Australian dollars the reMarkable is $949 & the Samsung $2,200 !
I got the R2 3 yrs ago, thank god at that time there was no cloud subscription so when they started charging but for new subscribers so I was spared. I can have up to 5 devices with free cloud service and no cap on memory 🎉🎉🎉🎉😊😊
It doesn’t really fit my own criteria for a device, but it does sound very impressive based on what we’ve seen so far. So I’m excited for what comes next from other companies. For me a smaller device more focused on reading / web browsing / comics and so on.
Great Upgrade, and good review, but here's the thing, you cannot use any of the accessories from the RM2 across to the pro, not even the pen? Subscription still remains, and no incentive, having just bought the RM2 to switch? No sales here, but they are heading in the right direction with the pen tips & the back light.
but has not mentioned and addressed the disadvantage of this product with only 229 PPI with taking the panel of E Ink Gallery 3 (300 ppi), I am confused, Perhaps the original PPI of the native panel is two slow.
I just feel bad for people who recently purchased a new E-ink device, especially the Remarkable 2. Luckily, I haven't committed to a device yet. I tried the Remarkable 2 and sent it back, tried all the Boox devices and returned those too, and now I have the Supernote. However, I'm going to return this as well because I just ordered the Remarkable Paper Pro. I feel very lucky because this is the device that I was waiting on but was going to settle for something that I didn't actually want 100%.
@@MB-yw7up I just wanted to test out all the devices so I had to return Boox so that I could get the supernote. The plan was that if I did not Fall in love with a supernote then I would go back to the tap ultra C pro . But after using all of the devices from the major carriers my conclusion was that if remarkable 3 could somehow offer color that would be the device that I would just throw my money at and that's what happened today so I ordered it without hesitation. The only problem I had with the tab ultra c pro was the battery life. It was not going to be a deal breaker but something that I wish was better. But the remarkable seems to be exactly what I was looking for
Hey guys! I have the reM 2 and was grandfathered into the system with no subscription. If they do the same for me for the Pro, I will pay the painful $500 and get it, if not, no.
500+ gram weight is not light, for a paper. By far nothing beats the discontinued Sony DPT-RP1, which though with its limited functions out of date features, only weights 400+g, for a 13.3 inch.
Remarkable 2 really sucked. I so wanted to love it, but I got it Christmas of 2023 and was not impressed. Page turns were slow af. And, the interactivity of the built-in software was really, really slow in doing all of the normal activities, such as looking at a gallery of your documents and switching between PDFs. And, I so wanted to read full-page PDF's on RM2, but it just didn't work. So, I plan to give this one a try. Seems like the updated hardware will make the speed issues a thing of the past, because the Remarkable is an incredible concept which I will buy a few of them -- once they come down. But, I will start with this RPP to make sure that it has come to where it should be, before it will ever get mainstream adoption.
And you’ve done a side-by-side comparison when? I have had an rM2 for over 4 years, a Supernote Nomad for a few months, a Boox Note Air 3C for about a month, and a reMarkable Paper Pro on the way. As things stand now, I’ll take the rM2 over the Boox, so I don’t see the Paper Pro not burying it…
Good e-Reader three months ago: Gallery 3 is dead Also Good e-Reader now: Gallery 3 is the best of the best. So what? Are you getting paid? Gallery 3 is not the best of the best when it comes to refreshing the page. As long as it gets a layered refresh it's useless for enojoy reading colored book like comics. Color saturation on the one hand vs. usability. So what the heck are you talking about?
Sounds great but the subscription component is a big NO for me.
The $850 price tag with the keyboard and nicer pen means a NO for me.
The subscription is completely un-needed never have had a need for it on my remarkables, its just cloud backup , You can just plug the tablet in and do the same stuff.
I got remarkable 2. Its slim and light. This new one is a no no fatty for me.

Weight and cost are two big factors.
It would get far too hot.
At least 60% of the sunlight would become heat that must be dealt with
It'll overheat the battery, decrease its performance and increasing risk of it exploding.
Which will be the first manufacturer with:
Gallery 3 color with 300 ppi

And a faster processor and display with lower lag.
Successor to Boox TabX or Tab Ultra C Pro hopefully?
@@Entertainment-is6ex they use kaleido. it wont be better than what they already have. Kaleido has hit its ceiling.

Bought one today too for DnD and drawing. Looking forward to test it out.
I so wish I had a need for one of these. Just love e-ink technology....
Just placed an order for the new colour version - enjoyed 2.0

Sounds pretty compelling. Looking forward to seeing the review.
Why is this not 300 ppi? And are there plans for more products to be released with gallery 3?
FINALLY! True subtractive color gamut so you get real print color!! Excellent!

More products with Gallery 3, please!
It's sooo much money in Canada.
Personally, I think the remarkable 2 is still what I'm looking for
Pretty cool device !
Does the new pen use the USI protocol (used on most Chromebooks)?
Pretty cool! Hoping next vedios
An 11.8 inch colour e-ink tablet for note taking and reading books/pdfs would be great. Oh wait, you cannot read Kindle books. Mad!

Compulsive return disorder 😂😂
If you return Boox, I am 99.99% sure you will return RPP later. For people who have no concern about eye issues, don't spend money in e-ink devices.
Been there, done that.

I personally don't like the bottom chin, I was hoping they would've gotten rid of it. It would've been nice had they included a fingerprint reader.
$850 is a hilarious price 😂
Almost perfect to read books and comics.
No true black is a deal breaker.

Some Kindle News
I hope the will support non latin languages like Arabic, Japanese etc. Just keyboards would be nice

Remarkable "Custom" OS? They mean a skinned Linux, right? 😂
over hyped
Wait for the Chinese brands to enter the market with the same spec screen. China is helping the world to keep the inflation down.
Might be a long wait, it's not an off-the-shelf screen.
wtf wrong with the painting behind you?
Maybe focus on the video content? Thanks
