Having seen Steve many times this is always one of the highlights of the show. The relentless second part of this is just so powerful. Voyage Of The Acolyte is nearly 50 years old and this still stands up so well. Nick Beggs going crazy here on the bass pedals too adds to its power. An updated Bach Fugue. This Song was Nuts Live. I never heard it before until I saw it performed Live at Berkeley's U.C. Theater in 2017 or 2018. Live, it sounded like Hackett's Notes were being played Backward. Think Ripples.
The bass player is on the ground playing a bass pedal. It's similar to an organ pedal board. It was used a lot by Mike Rutherford in the early Genesis albums!
Cool as this is, no video can compare to actually experiencing this live in the theater. The gradual, constantly building crescendo at the end makes it feel as though the very walls of the theater are breathing/vibrating.
