Hello... this is the central scrutinizer... Lee has asked me to ask you... to leave a comment and a like.... what a dumb thing to to ask... PSH... sorry, I fell... What is your favorite color?... oh shit, wrong card... What is your favorite track from Joe's Garage?... PSH.... wow this gets old huh... I feel for you, kid..
If you like classical, It's easy to love Beethoven, harder to grok Bartok. Like Jazz? Everyone loves Louis Armstrong, but Coltrane is more challenging. As an absolute non musician I have not always appreciated Zappa. Really appreciate Lee helping me/us along the way. Still feels like homework sometimes. My bad, I know.
On Act 1, my favorite track is Lucille. After the deep story telling and chaos of the surrounding music, the ending track "Lucille has messed my mind up" just like when I listen to Franks Musica.
Oh lord! Way back in the 80s, during an evening of LSD, the host put this on. As the acid kicked in, we lost track of which sides of the two records we'd listened to, so he just kept flipping and changing and it went round and round until sunrise. What a night!
Zappa is not the best music for acid. Accomplished, no question, but it's not oriented around spacing out. Big Zappa fans seem to have a particular type of personality. Anally retentive and pretentious. Zappa's music is not without merit. It's often brilliant, but his pomposity is reflected in his fans. What's your host doing putting this on? Was he trying to fuck with your head? Don't take acid with irresponsible or unaware people.
@@timholder6825I'm 58 years old. I don't need to be told what music is or isn't suitable for acid, or advice on who to take it with. I've been talking it for around 40 years and always had a brilliant time, whether listening to Zappa, Ozrics or Cardiacs. Thanks for trying anyway.
My 17th birthday was between acts 1 & 2/3, and they blew my mind. The social satire was dead on the money then, even if it feels relevant today too, and it was absolute catnip for me, and I'd already been musically opened by prog acts so I was absolutely there for all the extended exploration like Watermelon. Been a long time since I listened to it, looking forward to revisiting it with you.
Hey Lee! You ought to check out the video of a clean-cut college age Zappa on the Steve Allen Show (Tonight Show?). It's in the 50's. Zappa plays a bike! Yep, you heard me right. Lots of fun. Worth a view.
"makes its own sauce when you add water" is from an ad back in the day. he does that a lot. impossible to get all the references w/o having lived them... there's one in "flakes" about "frosting a cake with a paper knife"... hahaha (kind of like a modern reader reading alice in wonderland - so many contemporary cultural references). frank is just so much fun.
This album best consumed one side at a time at the very least. Here's an interesting live stage adaptation produced at the University of Michigan: th-cam.com/video/uxUEn4fZfY0/w-d-xo.htmlsi=vp__Xq-Df5y_WT54
Of course we had credit scores, it's just that back then, people didn't really know about them, and if you did, you couldn't do anything about it, like you can today.
Ike and I were each other’s first best friend. He lived a few doors away from me in 1965 and would spend hours air-guitaring to Rubber Soul. He had a beautiful Sears Silvertone Danelectro guitar and convinced me to switch to electric from playing acoustic Delta Blues. They moved after a few years and we lost touch until college days. He had his band Clown and I had Earwacks… Ike got to sit with Frank when he played at Washington University, St. Louis and as a result Frank flew him out to LA to sing the part of Joe.
Your channel will continue to grow if you keep using phrases like "conceptual continuity". Bravo! The Central Scrutinizer is nothing new; he used to be called the Universal Surveillance Infrastructure. Now he's just part of the scenery. Credit scores aren't new either. They were compiled by the Big Three, Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion. Now we have Social Credit scores which drop like a rock if you park in an area that is for loading and unloading ONLY. Frank knew an awful lot about music and other stuff. A Native Genius
Some of the stuff going on in the background of this song is just amazing. Only Frank could take a three chord song and somehow manage to represent like 5 genere's.
Brother Lee, this album will forever harm you, and you will never come back. Just fair warning. Don't you know any nice songs? ... sorry, i just had to.
A. You are listening to far too many diverse artists. Do you ever actually 'listen' to music for the love of it in your own time. What is your favourite album? 2. Listen to Captain Beefheart and the Fall then you won't have to bother with behemoths.
@@thegreekgeekreborn I don’t think listening to a diverse serving of music is bad. It’s good for you. And of course I do. It’s hard to pick a favorite. Personally the contortionists album clairvoyant or between the buried and Me’s the great misdirect are some of my personal favorites. Those bands were my usual trappings before I started the channel. If you want to talk favorite albums that I’ve done in full from the channel … the Beatles white album, low by David Bowie, Jethro tulls crest of a knave, the who Quadrophenia….i could probably list a few more but I’ve only done a certain number of “full album” reactions.

Stick it Out, but you'll be demonitized
Watermelon in Easter Haye. I always get choked up when this song comes on. Such a simple solo but it is overwhelming emotionally.
Mr. Scrutinizer, I don't listen to Joe's Garage as it reminds me of '79, a bad year personally. But my favorite color is Black Light
It starts out so wholesome ...you're gonna love it, L33 ... it's a way of life.
Stick out your hot curly weenie !
with leather.
This album is life changing. Better strap in for this one.
Packard Goose, Music is the best...
Frank Friday is making a comeback! I'm ready to hear this album.
I haven't heard this album in YEARS. Thank you, Lee. You are in for a treat 😮
"Turn it down!" Yes, they played this on the radio.
Ahhh you were the girl that was stuck to seat 38 on Fido 3
By far my favorite Zappa album, and I own all of them (literally). Was my intro to Zappa, and absolutely love this!!
I have all of them as well, going back to 1975.
I upgraded all the vinyl to CD except for one.
Care to guess which one? Clue: It's from the 80s.
@Royalle_with_Cheese Thing Fish lol?

Francesco Zappa
Information is not knowledge. Music is the best.
This album was my introduction to Zappa!
He used to cut the grass, he was a very nice boy.
The guitar solos are recorded Live on tour, and got different music around them in this album =)
Here we go!!!
I loved this. So much fun. a bit suggestive,
See if you can find a copy of the libretto, so much more Frank.

An artist who takes his art seriously, a national treasure🤔
It would not be Friday without Frank.
The Purple Lagoon should be reviewed.
L33 the sound is amazing , a great recording

Don’t make a fuss, just get on the bus. It’s shaped just like a Telefunken U47. You’ll love it!
shrink tubing with a hairdryer!
Look,I’ll buy you a pizza.
it’s a way of life
I was lucky enough to see a play/presentation of thus whole story in LA about 13 years ago. It was so cool
Hi This is the central scrutinizer :) Love this 1
One of Zappa's best albums. Wet T-Shirt night is hilarious (Fembot In A Wet T-Shirt).
This is a very good album enjoy. Happy Holidays to you and yours!!

If his mind is prehensile, he’ll put down his pencil and have himself a squat on the cosmic utensil!
what is that, musk?
Joe's Garage is an epic album! You are in for one awesome ride!
More Friday Every day =)
You got the taste!
This album must be listened to in it's entirety.
Frank is always interesting ... enjoyed it

lol, frosting a cake with a paper knife was a reference to a Betty Crocker Frosting commercial

Does humor belong in music? Apparently!
"Guess you only get one chance in life to play a song that goes like this" - Truth.
That was hilarious 😂
"We will not harm you, or maim you!"... Such a great album. Enjoy!

Back in the 70’s I would play in garage bands, often in Canoga Park (the good parts of Canoga Park is now called West Hills)
My first Zappa album. Just love this album.
This album rules ❤
Turn it down. Turn it down. Turn it down.

Frank had intelligence far beyond the average. He was brilliant in many ways! Luckily he was brilliant (obsessed) with music as well.
Oh I love this one
Some of the stuff going on in the background of this song is just amazing. Only Frank could take a three chord song and somehow manage to represent like 5 genere's.
Don’t you boys know any nice songs?
Lee, this is only the first part of the wacky world of Joe, Lucille and FZ.
add water and it makes it's own sauce!
I always let "Catholic Girls" play after this.. featuring Dale Bozzio, of Missing Persons.
Who you jivin with that Kozmic Debris?
