I found one of these in a dumpster and the container still had some gas in it. It seemed to work well. I had no idea how to replace the gas container so this video helped me a lot. Thank you.

Cool. I’m amazed and appalled at what people throw out. Those stoves are very simple and dependable. Canisters are unavailable in the US but I’ve had viewers find them in Europe and Argentina.

I've had mine for years, it was my dads originally it's pretty much travelled the world and always very handy when were out and about hiking up in the mountains, I'm in the uk and gas canisters are available everywhere to fit these old units, they boil a pan of water very quickly and making food on them is quick thats what i like about these old units.

I love these old stoves. I have 2- both still going strong (over 35 yrs...) and will never use anything else...
They seem to go forever on a canister and heat/boil as quickly as anything...

I have the 206. I always wanted one. Think they're kind of neat. Never done me wrong.

HI Planetside ... I'm coming to this vid very late, but just thought I'd say I've got an old Bleuet S200 as well. We're in the UK and Dad got one in the early 1960's - somewhere around '63-'65. We didn't actually buy it - we got it with the coupons that came in his packets of Embassy cigarettes! It accompanied us everywhere we went camping - ideal for brewing a quick cuppa - and it replaced his old methylated spirits burners that he'd used in the army. It's mine now and still in full working order. We can get the C206 cartridges here in Europe, as you say, and I suppose I should swap it out for a modern screw-top canister model - but it's still working and still useful. Only difference with mine is that I have a blue metal drip tray that hangs off the central burner. Cheers :)

Interesting, back in the day here in the states tobacco companies had all kinds of coupon deals that and Green Stamps etc.
My S200 was my first and only stove for many years, I bought one of those enameled trays as a windscreen but it was way too heavy for backpacking and I found a piece of aluminum foil worked just fine.
      Have a good one :-)

Very informative, thank you very much.
A coworker gave me this exact stove last year before our company went bankrupt and our path went separate ways, and I always wanted to know which cartridge to use. The close up helped me a lot.
    Thanks =)

I'm not sure how easy it will be to find the old puncture type canisters where you're from. Here in US nether type are available. They are great stove have fun with yours.

@@planetsideagent I believe it's quite common. At least I'm pretty sure I've seen some in my usual store.

I‘m glad that I‘ve found your video. Times are getting tough and I need to find something for outdoor usage. My dad gave me his old S200. The cartridge was still half filled. But it ran out of propane now. I needed to know how to install it and what type of cartridge I have to use.
Unfortunately here in Germany all hardware stores are closed due to corona restrictions, although the cartridges are very common and pretty cheap. But I found an online seller on ebay and ordered 6 cartridges for € 16,85 including shipping costs, which is a fair deal.
      GOD BLESS

@@romainhureaux28 originally they took the C200 cartridge. Good luck finding one. The later C206 cartridge fits, though. Here in the UK, I bought 6 cartridges for £12 last Autumn from Amazon. They work just fine. btw, I have a deluxe super bluet set (the one in the blue metal box), and mine dates from the late 60's or early '70's (it was my grandfather's)

Canisters are available in Canada if you are lucky. Seen them on Amazon.ca but won't ship to the USA. Will use mine canoeing next week. Old school. Mine is from my boy scout days in the early 80s. I tested my three old stoves: propane with heavy cylinders, white gas Coleman and this one. The Campingaz boiled water the fastest and is the lightest. I'm sure there are better newer stoves out there but I'm keeping this one for now.

I bought my s200 in 1970, The white gas stoves were expensive, heavy, and required messing around with priming and fueling.
I was real happy with my choice, I've run a lot of canisters through it summer and winter.
That said, I have since picked up a Svea 123 and Optimus 8R because they are so cool.

I have 2 of these Gaz stoves. One is identical to yours on the video, & the other is the "Deluxe" model & comes with a big tin box which doubles up as the stand & windshield.
I was lucky enough to get a box of 20 pierce canisters from ebay for £20 UK & I keep them both running, despite having a Soto WindMaster with the self sealing canisters.

Cool Ebay score. I've never seen the Deluxe model, I'll have to google it.
The Bleuet were the goto stoves for many years. I saw a photo of an Everest expedition where at base camp they had four stoves going under one big pot.

Better, lighter, etc, etc .. yep.
However, mine, purchased in South Africa back in the 70's still works. Canisters are freely available here in Europe (and South Africa). Cost per unit Gas used is much cheaper than the newer 'screw-on' canisters .. just bought another at my Local Migros yesterday (Chf 3.50 for the C206 190g canister) to add to my stock and cooked an outdoor breakfast with the Cooker day before yesterday.
Yes, it's bulkier than the newer Stoves but I remove the Pot Supports and Wind Shield and store the lot in a Zippered Toiletries Bag. Disassembly and assembly are easy peas.
The perceived inconvenience is more than offset by the otherwise ease of use and .. it's paid for. Also, as a 'Baby Boomer' .. DOB 1950, we survived as youngsters and later, without all of the Convenience and Mod Cons of today, seeing them rather as a Bonus as against a Necessity 😊.
Thanks for the nostalgic share 👍 .. take care ..

GAZ must have sold a lot of the 200/206 stove and enough are still in use to continue making the canisters.
Being cheaper than the new canisters is a real bonus. :-)
You're my senior, DOB 1951. Have a good one.
