Love your videos and thank you so much. I’m finally doing this as my 15 yr old dessert rose never had lots of leaves and branches. I started root training her 2yrs ago and it’s been great. Now I can help her make more leaves and branches amd doing the same to another 5 yr old. Thank you!!

@@lolitbautista7682 sir, the simple answer would be no, I don't send cuttings or seeds. Thank you for asking though! However, if you are in Dubai or the UAE please let me know, then we can work something out, no worries!
Otherwise, I would suggest you source them from a local store and I am sure you know seeds would take more time to become a mature plant so if possible start a couple of Adeniums from cuttings 👍😊

Please take care of a few things whenever you decide to prune an Adenium (as shown in the video)-
⁕ plant should be older than 3 years and you can prune it whenever you decide. However, if it's younger then do these processes only during spring or summer time
⁕ keep the plant in a shaded spot for at least 2 weeks
⁕ water immediately and keep watering every 3-4 days for the next 2 weeks and once shifted to sunlight then start watering once every 7-10 days
⁕ the new leaves (branches) should start appearing right about any time now, sometimes it even takes about 35-40 days as well, depends really on the variety, so please be patient and keep it under your care and things will work out great, I am quite sure.

I just sprouted adendiums from seed. They're about one inch tall. How often would you water them? I do have them on a heating mat and under a 4 bulb LED light fixture.
That's great, congratulations!! Must be feeling excited, good job there.
I would water them at least once per day just to keep the soil moist, not letting it dry out. Obviously, if the climate is warmer then I might do that more than once per day. I would suggest that you check the seedlings every day to make sure that they have enough moisture in the soil.
I hope you are keeping the LED lights on only for about 12-16 hours each day as these plants need some darkness as well to grow to their full potential.

I have been using cinnamon powder as a rooting assistant and fungicide for as long as I can remember, and it works every time. Economical and organic, and of course, just perfect results.

- Yes, any cinnamon would work, produce from Indonesia, China, India, Sri Lanka, or any other country, won't matter at all, they would all give you the exact same results
⁕ When is the best time to prune a desert rose? should I do it in spring or does any time during the year work?
-Sure, let me try and give you a complete picture here: First, please make sure the plant is older than 3 years, if younger you might get just 1-2 new branches after pruning. Also, at that age (3+ years), the plant can be pruned any time however if it's younger, please avoid, harsh summers and winters.
Now, once pruned, here are the things you need to take care of-
- Keep the plant in a shaded spot for at least 2 weeks
- Water immediately and keep watering every 3-4 days for the next 2 weeks and once shifted to sunlight then start watering once every 7-10 days and continue with this schedule for good
- The new leaves (branches) should start appearing right about any time now, sometimes it even takes about 35-40 days as well, depends really on the variety, so please be patient and keep it under your care
Well, now let us talk about the most important things, in detail-
⁕ Soil Mix- 50% Garden Soil + 50% Sand (any sand would do, but river sand, is the best)
⁕ Sunlight- They would need at least 4-6 hours of sun every day, so please find a suitable place for them
⁕ Pot size/ shape- Size, we can deal with later given they are too young right now. The shape, it's quite important- you need to have a round pot that tapers at the bottom- not a rectangular one or a square one. Also, quite important that you give each plant its own pot, too many in one pot would hamper the overall growth
⁕ Watering schedule- They like less water, so water once every 7-10 days
⁕ Fertilizer- Use any kind of fertilizer (organic/ inorganic), they love them all and can handle themselves well, just that add fertilizer during colder climate and in the evenings

Sure, thread should do the trick! Yes, that would be ideal given the cut part will be losing moisture and if its out in the sun, it might lose more than what we or the plant can afford so yeah shade for 3-4 days would be perfect 😊

@@ushadevi7391 Ms Usha, welcome to the channel. Thank you for subscribing and hope I can keep bringing in videos that you would be interested in. I understand, you hate pruning your plants however it's something you have to do and plants love it 😊👍 I leave that to you. As you mentioned bud dropping, the reason could be nutrients in soil or constant change in weather (hot to cold in a few days). So I would suggest add some good organic fertilizer this winter and see how things work out for the adeniums- if they don't flower by spring, then pruning is best bet.

I have some newly nursery brought plants i am scared to repot as i might harm them doing something wrong plz help
Just do these things and plants would be fine
- Don't water them for 2-3 days before repotting as that would help you to pull the whole root structure out without any damages
- Wait until a few weeks have gone by after you bring those plants home- let them get used to the water, air and everything else, ease them into repotting, don't rush
- After repotting, make sure you get rid of all possible air out of the pot otherwise roots will be gravely harmed and the plant might eventually die
- Keep the plants in shade for at least a week after repotting
- Water immediately after repotting and then once every 2 days, sprinkle water on the leaves in the evenings every day
- Once you are confident you can keep them in the sun

Hi what's the other remedy, aside from cinamon powder to cover the wound of adenium ?
There are some other things that you can use-
1. Turmeric (powder)
2. Aloe vera gel (wait 5-10 minutes before applying. Avoid using the more poisonous part- which is yellow in colour, use only the transparent part- here's one of my videos that talks about separating the two- th-cam.com/video/2mcEDu0-l_Q/w-d-xo.html)
3. Wax (wait for 10-15 minutes before applying hot wax on to the wound)
4. Neem Oil (here's another video talking about how to extract the oil- th-cam.com/video/m6gmKzUClJE/w-d-xo.html)
5. Desert Sand- If you have got pure desert sand available, that can work too (in this video you can see what sand I am talking about- th-cam.com/video/qKxVn6EtBM8/w-d-xo.html)

What powder you put after cutting?Do we have to water after pruning?
I used Cinnamon Powder (one of the kitchen spices). The watering schedule doesn't and shouldn't change after pruning. Just that you keep it a shaded spot for at least 10-14 days until you see the new leaves.

Hi, I recently raised my adenium and I cut the feeder roots, which I reget. I like the look of roots coming down from caudex . So I covered part of the caudex back up. Will the feeder roots grow back if they are covered back up. And how would I make more feeder roots. Thank you.

I have my first desert rose. It’s maybe a year old now and I have done nothing to it. It is tall and skinny I want to re pot and trim but I have never done this so I am afraid I will ruin the plant. Should I wait until winter time or can it be done now? It’s outside I’m in Florida

So you too have an Adenium, awesome! They are some hardy plants, need minimum maintenance and great rewards in terms of foliage and flowers.
Repotting an Adenium is not that difficult, in fact, its one of the easiest plants when it comes to pruning and repotting (although grafting and a few other things are quite tricky for this plant). Just know that the right time to do this would be during spring or summer-
- I am assuming if its rootbound, it has to be older than 3-4 years
- You got to stop watering it a week prior to the repotting, that way it will easier for you to get it out of the pot, and it will also help it to get used to the newer conditions quite well
- You should take the bottom part and pull the whole plant out
- The next thing you do is, prune most of the roots carefully. There is always one big and main root, you need to be careful with that, cut it with a clean knife (let us say whatever the length of this root is, reduce it to not more than half, or you can leave it the way it is if the pot is quite big than the last one) and just prune all the secondary roots to a few cms.
- Water immediately and keep the plant in a shaded spot for about a week or so and keep sprinkle water on the leaves every evening for 7 days. The watering schedule should be once in 2 days for these 7 days and after that, once you get the plant in the sun, water every 7-10 days and continue with that
- Just remember, I wouldn't advise that you combine pruning and repotting, there should be at least 6 months' gap between the two to avoid any mishaps with the plant's growth or flowering
- I would recommend that you use a ROUND pot instead of a square, cylindrical (long and narrow, I mean) or a rectangular one. Round (Twice as wider at the top- almost like the top half of a cone) one will give you the best results in terms of the overall growth pattern of the plant.

That would depend on the age of the plant, if it's older than 3 years, you can do it whenever you want and if it's younger then simply avoid summers, winters, and monsoon!

Awesome, just know that if the Desert Rose is 3-4 years old then prune anytime, but if it's any younger then given Dubai's weather, prune in the month of March or April.
Yes, you can use dune sand alright! 3 parts Garden Soil and 1 part Dune Sand, would be perfect.

Such a complete video! I bought one of these at lowes almost dead! Not realizing exactly what it was...other than a "project" that looked cool for a 1.00 I have tiny branches and leaves on a 6 inch caudex with a super cool looking stem... I'll be potting it up this week for the first time and super nervous! Here's hoping for some actual growth this year! My branches are all 2 or 3 inches long and are tiny thickness like a pine needle if you will... but they are growing... will a bigger pot and fertilizer monthly help it grow thicker branches like yours?

As I mentioned in one of my earlier comments to you, repot it in a bigger and round pot (and if you can find a tall-cylindrical pot, even better) and don't bother it for next 1 year, let it grow, flower and be. Simply add, fertilizer once every 2-3 months and water once every 7 days, give it some 6-8 hours of sun time!

Just let it be in its new pot and when it warms up(still freezing at night every so ofte ) slowly introduce it outside like a typical garden plant and let it be till nights are hitting 50s?

When you prune do you cut near the main stock or cut leaving part of the branches ..
Please make sure you have the below-mentioned things in place to replicate the results in the video-
- the Adenium must be at least 3-4 years old
- yes, cut 8-10 inches (a few inches above the caudex) from the surface
- leave no branches or leaves whatsoever
- apply cinnamon powder on the wounded part immediately
- water the plant immediately and keep it in the shade for 2 weeks and once leaves are all established, shift to full sun and then water once in a week, going forwrad

I cut mine about a year ago and it hasn’t grown anything. No leaves no branches, nothing. It’s just a short round adorable caudex. Is it possible I cut it too short? Is there anything I can do to force it to grow.

I could have used wires (special) however that would have come with a cost, hence decided to use an equally effective method to bend, shape the plant in a certain way.
I cut off the thread after it started to get absorbed by the branch, and that was 2 months after being put. The branch also had a nice bend to it exactly the way I wanted it.
When I had cut the top, there came 4 new branches right close to each other, and I didn't want all of them to grow close to each other, hence used thread and stones to pull 2 of those away. So all in all it worked out great.

In which mount I can cut the branches?
May I use dry cowdang and decomposed vegetables as fertilizer instead of npk?
If the plant is older than 4 years, you can prune it at anytime. However if it's younger then please prune it only at the start of summers.
Absolutely, you can use any slow release fertilizer, as Adeniums love to have a year round supply of nutrients so the options you suggested are in fact the best ones😊 👍
Although if you use NPK, it's also fine, but do it in colder months and in the evenings. If there is anything else, please let me know and we can have another discussion.

Good afternoon first time watching your video after I prune and going to plant the part that was removed should I remove the leaves before setting

Sure, about your question, I would suggest that you don't give the plant any more wounds, keep the leaves and within a week or so, they would turn yellow and drop themselves.
If you decide to get off all the leaves then don't make any cuts on the stem, because any more cuts will just be bothersome for the plant.
I don't remove the leaves and as you have a cutting, don't callous or wait any longer than 5-10 minutes to put it in the soil. I have had great results using the same process. I assure you the results would be better than normal.
