    no over the top celebrations, no shouting, just came, played, thanked the supporters, and left.

    Fascinating player. Botic is so relaxed and composed, it's kinda like his movements are in slow motion, he's hitting super clean consistently, and just dismantles Carlos without giving anything away.

    What ridiculous power off the ground for Botis. That demeanor looks depressed but the perfect antidote to Alcaraz's (and I am a huge Alcaraz fan) kind of showmanship expressions. Players that grunt loudly and celebrate every shot are fantastic, but the secondary effect they hope to achieve with that is subtle intimidation (of their opponent).
    Botis's demeanor is perfect against Alcaraz's. Tennis is all about matchups. Occasionally, either intentionally or unintentionally, someone finds the key to the lock. Botis definitely found the key that unravels Alracaraz. Great work.

      You can tell how much he's lacking in confidence. He felt bad for beating Carlos, like he ruined the party. He even seemed to hesitate his celebration. Either he's incredibly humble, or the match was fixed. I don't know, it seems possible that Carlos was asked to lose this match by the way he missed many wild shots. It's very strange.

    From the highlights, you can tell the key to beating Alcaraz was to drive him back deep into his court with super heavy topspin. This created a lot of problems for Carlos as he couldn't drive the ball as hard as usually does with balls above his strike zone. At times, Carlos did take a court position a couple of steps back but that's not what he wants to play. This is lesson to Carlos. You can't keep banging away if your opponent doesn't give you space. You need a plan B which Carlos does not have. Congrats to Botic, he played a great strategic match.

    Aside from a very impressive performance, Van de Zandscalp truly was, (as mentioned), a sophisticated and perfect gentleman. I do not care for the antics of Novak and the others. Putting the hand to their ears and pumping the fists after they win a point. It's not sportsmanship. Van de Zandscalp was a class act, on the field and off.

    It's crazy how the video's highlights are positive Alcaraz plays..... If you didn't have the score in front of you, then you'd think it was even. Carlos got flat out beaten for 2.5 hours straight. Out hussled. Out played at the net. Out thought. Out ran (who knew?).

    Well done Botic! In tennis, as in almost all sports, the one who plays the important points wins. Today, the Flying Dutchman did that (just to recall a distinguished compatriot of his from years long gone by) and he didn't steal anything. Tennis is like that; not everyone is Djokovic... who is human anyway. And finally, I remember that an illustrious compatriot of mine called Adriano Panatta said in his time that tennis was invented by the devil. Absolutely true. And that's the beauty of this sport.

    Love humble tennis players. I think this shows a bit of Carlos’s only weakness….his mind. I’m
    Not sure he’s quite as bright and sharp mentally as Rafa/Novak/Nadal were at his age, and sinner now. I know it’s just one match. But it’s a Major match…again with sports, stop the quick comparisons. Even the times Carlos seems to celebrate, it’s just not quite right. We will tell in the next 5 hrs or so how he progresses mentally, as his physical body plateau’s, his mind will have to meet how powerful and physical he is to be able to win 15 majors. We will
    See. Love tennis! Love Carlos. Unreal Van de Zandscalp! Congrats

  • @FunDuude
    @FunDuude 14 วันที่ผ่านมา +4

    wow. what a game plan. Obviously did his homework. Off pace shots. Strategically employed slice. High topspin when needed to set up crushing flat thunder bolts. And changed up the game so Carlos couldn't hit the same shot more than 3 times. Dude was hitting his shots like he had all the time in the world. Relaxed. It also helps that he had NO PRESSURE. Many coaches will watch this (the video) and dissect it and take notes for their players. I think we're on to something here. LOL. On clay however this would have been a whole different match. JMHO
