The most dangerous thing in our country right now are politicians.

Politicians are bought and paid for - you have to sign an AGREEMENT with an agent. This is nuts.

This law forcing you to have a buyer agent brought to you by the 2nd largest lobbying group in the US, the National Association of Realtors. Bribing politicians to force you to use their services.

This is bullcrap. This is another gimme to the very strong real estate lobby in the Indiana Capitol. I should be free to buy without being strong-armed into giving somebody a commission by law. This is wrong.

If politicians wanted to pass a good law, they'd pass a law that realtors cant lie or omit information they know about the property they are selling. For example ; if they know of defects reported by professional home inspectors that potential buyers paid for, they need tell buyers about them if ask.

No it's not.....I know of plenty of examples, where the realtor did not disclose problems@@charlieodom9107

Does this mean no private listings / sales are allowed? If so it sounds like the realtors have one heck of a lobbyist!

No! No one can force you to pay someone else to sell your house. It is unconstitutional to do so.
FSBO is the way to go.

This isn't an Indiana law, it's a national law and it's awful. This law is going to change fast, it's just so bad. Lawyers and politicians are the worst.

If the seller doesn’t pay the buyers agent the property is not going to sell. Simple fact.

Question 1 - can you still buy and sell as a private seller or buyer? If so then I'd only look at those homes. We have had an influx of owners selling their own homes. We bought our home from a private owner and we sold our old house on our own. We had several realtors stop and want to list our homes. We declined. Locally realtors have lost a lot of their market here. It's a way to save money. We have a local site that allows people to list items they have for sale including homes. It's the place to go for anything homes, cars, etc that you are looking for. And guess what? No commissions. All you pay is for a lawyer to draw up the deed and to do the deed search (which you paid anyway). Also just wait until the house is out of contract. My neighbors did that.
