I'm working on rebuilding the engine on my WD as well and have the original studs removed from the block. I note that you replaced the original studs with bolts so I have to ask what grade of bolts did you use to replace the original studs? Did you get them from a auto parts supplier or elsewhere? This 1950 vintage engine is the oldest engine I can recall ever rebuilding and I've never felt compelled to replace the old studs until now.

Jack they are grade 8 bolts and I purchased them from dis tractor parts.com. I’d recommend replacing yours.
