Something that I think people overlook is how even the good stuff we get Disney and places still try to slip things in. For example, the Spider-Man game you said would be a banger? Does anyone remember that MJ is not a model or actress in the first game but she's Great Value Brand Lois Lane who has relationships problems with Peter? The designs working against "the male gaze". The villain in Fallen Order being a POC person of color like Reva who's bad but...not really, and is considered good by the end by the end after doing one good thing? My point is, other companies and other mediums might quit it with the woke stuff, but sadly I don't think Marvel/Disney will anytime soon. Even in their good product they have to sneak things in.

Movies like Pocahontas proved that when they tried depicting the Native Americans as a peaceful society with no problems until the "white man" came. Yep, proud to say I've played a part in this - haven't paid a cent for anything from Disney since like 2013 and I won't start anytime soon. When the woke nonsense started, I began taking to the high seas to screen all entertainment content - video games, tv shows, movies, etc. If the content has feminism, alphabet nonsense, race swapping, etc. then I never buy the product. Clearly I'm not alone, and I hope people keep voting with their wallets.
I feel like this woke crap is just beginning. I'll believe it's gone when we get an apology (unlikely) and content producers start hiring people to create not bow to wokies who don't watch this stuff to begin with.

Most people are tired of stories that are made for with wide appeal for audiences. Disney has been playing it safe by virtue signaling, cause let's be honest they don't care about anything but money. You guys don't get it. They are dismantling and cashing out the company. ESG provides a "cover" for them as they make the cheapest, shittiest films possible that fail (they don't care, they're cashin out!), while firing and gutting 80% of staff and admin until there's only a shell left they can sell. Disney practically went into hibernation from the late 1950s until the mid '90s. I grew up in the late 70s/early 80s, and aint nobody cared much about Disney back then. My kids used to go to the cinema to watch every Marvel film but now don’t go to see any.
Only two films have they been to see at the cinema,Top gun Maverick and John Wick 4.
Their visits to the cinema have gone from 12 to 2 per yr.

Kim Wexler from better call Saul is a great example on how to make a great tv series involving a woman. She isn’t forced into the narrative but rather it’s earned. She is brilliant and smart, but not without flaws. That’s what a character should be
Night Court and the continuation of Night Court are good examples too. The characters all feel human and no one gets a pass just because of gender. The following is an actual scene from the first episode of the continuation:

It may take Bob Iger getting bounced - I don't know if this is true or not, but I read somewhere some months back that if Disney stock drops below a certain threshold that the executive board can step in and start firing people at the higher levels automatically and replacing them - IMO we need that to happen. Iger is a huge problem for Disney and they need to replace him and people like Kathleen Kennedy, etc. As long as they have these woke acolytes in there running the company into the ground, the content will not change much.
Disney's brand was built on being family friendly. Wokeness is directly opposed to families. Even if they made an about face this minute, some of us will never come back because any trust we had in them is gone.

Disney became great because they wrote great stories, both for animated and live action movies. The whole family liked a lot of their movies. The storytelling was great, and it was organic, natural. Nothing was forced in or forced on the audience. Nothing distracted from the story. You didn't roll your eyes and feel out of the story every 5 minutes because of some ridiculous change, character shoehorning, agenda, preaching, etc. You felt in the story. It was part of the magic. Fast forward to today and, well, you get the point. It's all about the story.
The stories are still good if you don't have a problem with women and people of color being centered in the stories. Why does that bother you so much?

I have always had a soft place in my heart for Disney but I have gotten to the place where I couldn’t care less about them now.
1:20 It speaks volumes when you see critic to audience ratios like this. 94% of critic pandering paid off shills that never cared about the source material vs a 38% from passionate fans who have just witnessed their childhood be ruined. Critic scores tend to be a great indicator on whether something's good or not. If they love it, then it's terrible. If they hate it, then it's great.

Most of their complaints were political. Something I’ve noticed in Disney is that while they are falling massively down, they’re biggest success are the none woke properties. Spider-Man No Way Home and Encanto are two massive examples, both becoming massive sensations.

How is encanto not woke? You’re mistaking woke for automatically meaning bad. It’s the way something is portrayed that makes it bad rather than it just being “woke”. Encanto is a movie about a Latino family in a Latino setting with Colombian culture being a highlight. Literally as progressive/woke as a movie can be if you think about it. It just isn’t forced or written badly.

I boycotted Disney when they cancelled Gina Carano. I didn't even like her character all that much (not that I disliked her, I was ambivalent toward her), but i felt I had to take a stand against cancel culture in whatever small way I could. The problem is that Disney is an entirely different beast when it comes to creative freedoms. I would bet a year's salary that the reason why Grogu returned to the Mandalorian despite it completely negating the return of Luke Skywalker was because he was one of the few characters that actually made money in merchandising. And I would also bet all of the bait and switching that was happening with Marvel was directly due to agendas being pushed by Victoria Alonso. You can't entirely blame the writers and creative directors when they have mandates to fulfill that directly conflict with the creative process.

Power Rangers. There was a period of time years ago when Disney bought the Power Rangers IP from bandai. They did the same thing, it became a disney show, felt just like sister sister or thats so raven. With terrible actors, scripts and set pieces. As the franchises going woke starts to go broke, I start to see more and more people either going on manga/anime, on rescuing classics, or just deciding to create their own mythologies. The last option is what I consider the best scenario, as the more people we get, writing new, refreshing and constructive mythologies, more we start to remember and re-learn why timeless good stories matter.
Anime/Manga constantly creates new stuff. That's why that industry is currently at the top of worldwide entertainment. Western media has gotten lazy, and has convinced themselves that POLITICS, of all things, will save them. Honestly...some Disney movies are just bad, but I don't believe it's because they are all "inclusive." Dr. Strange in the Multiverse of Madness wasn't terrible because they sidelined Dr Strange. Despite this, you're more likely to see high quality in a small budget film than in a big budget film, unless the latter has James Cameron or Christopher Nolan backing it (and even Nolan was off his game with Tennet). Francis Ford Coppola is making a comeback too with Megalopolis, so the tide is turning and the woke are foaming at the mouth because of it. George Lucas has retired but despite Disney's attempts to destroy his legacy, his 6 main Star Wars movies will endure any assault, just like true art always does.

Stories can have ideas put into them, but they have to be good stories first. People can accept messages - even blatant ones - as long as we get a story that’s enjoyable in its own right. Nowadays people think that the message is the most important stuff.
By bringing explicit attention to the gender and related woke traits of a character, such as their sexuality, you reduce any form of merit those traits may have had. People are more likely to resonate with a black, gay, or female character if those traits are simply that, a trait, rather than screaming ‘THIS CHARACTER IS BLACK AND GAY! ISN’T THAT AMAZING, INTERNET??’
Especially in the case of comics, comic books have always been majorly political, Alan Moore was an extreme lefty but somehow in his most famous novel Watchmen, he’s still critical of far left ideology, but he represents that through CHARACTERS, that’s why Rorschach hates the establishment, increasing social liberalism, and so on. It doesn’t feel like when you read Rorschach’s inner monologue that you are reading Alan Moores thoughts it feels like an entirely different persons perspective because Rorschach is a great character.

They were political in the 80s when I first started reading books like X-Men. They remained political in the 90s, and the 2000s, and 2010s, and remain so to this very day.
I clearly remember a Spider-Man issue that dealt with guns, and that was the ENTIRE issue. There was no bad guy triggering the Spidey Sense. It was just Peter, surveiling the city in his suit, lamenting the situation and hating himself for being powerless to do anything to stop it, despite all the power that he had.
Buy you know the casuals that became comics "fans" because of these movies know what they're talking about...

These past disney scandals mentioned in the video reminds me of something. Blizzard and other big companies are also going hard in this direction, and as most know Blizzard has the worst reputation regarding their treatment of their employees, female specially. I may be going crazy but the fact that so many of these shaddy big companies are going woke makes me believe its all just a attempt to shield themselvs from accusations.
The problem is, we've seen anime and video games do this female-main-character thing done right. How many times have we seen a video game or anime series with a female as a main character gain universal acclaim? Metroid, SpyXFamily, Final Fantasy 6, every RPG that lets you create a female character, Inuyasha, Sailor Moon, the list goes on. You also had tons of films in the past with the lives of female historical figures, saints, and female action heroes do well in the past. It's just that modern Hollywood's way of creating a female hero is so obnoxious to the point where it's unlikeable, which is far unlike female main characters in the past. Case in point: Cutey Honey versus modern Teela from He-Man. The former is pretty, selfless, and heroic, the latter is brash, abrasive, and selfish.
Anime is full of women kicking the most ass and are lovable at the same time. Heck, they even gender-swapped King Arthur, but no one complained about that, almost as if because... That isn't the problem 🤯

It sounds like Disney has backed themselves into a corner in every way. Rewriting all of Marvel history according to woke ideology has cost them billions of dollars in the box office. I believe that once enough money is hemorrhaged, they'll have to go back to creating movies that fall in line with Marvel canon and connect with its dedicated fan base. The audience isn't burnt out from the superherodom at all. For example, the most recent Spiderman movie grossed over 2 billion dollars worldwide. I'm hoping the woke era resolves and we can get back to great superhero movies. I really want to be excited to go see more Marvel movies with great acting, writing, and overall directing. We'll see if they wise up over there at Disney.

Hawkeye was not sidelined by Kate either, the character already wanted to retire from the Avengers, no one in their right mind expected the show to center him entirely. Kate Bishop was introduced to the comics in 2005, before the first MCU movie debuted and before Disney took over. Dr Strange wasn't sidelined by America Chavez either. The reason Multiverse of Madness was messy has nothing to do with going woke. America Chavez was supposed to be introduced in that movie and she was supposed to be the catalyst for the events of No Way Home, but Disney couldn't push the date for Spider-Man so they had to rework both stories. The lack of visiting other universes is a legitimate criticism of that movie, but it has nothing to do with wokeness. Thor was criticized for being too light hearted, no legitimate critic really thought Jane Foster stole the spotlight. These arguments are so weak and thinly veiled, I can't even make it past 3 minutes into this video. Pick a movie that amazed you as a kid and I guarantee I can explain how it was "woke" for its time. It's the people who complain every time they see a person of color or a woman in a role they want for a white man that are making these stories political. Kate Bishop taking over as Hawkeye isn't inherently political unless you have a problem with "gender swapping," which is not what this is. Both characters still exist in the MCU and the Kate Bishop has been in the comics since before the first MCU movie was released.

I wanna take a moment to acknowledge the re4 remake, which was made today and has little to no wokeness. Compared to deadspace remake which featured an "all gender bathroom bathroom" race swaps, and made all their female characters ugly. I'm so glad capcom is a Japanese studio, and not an American one.

Just to be clear, Disney+ is not a dedicated app here in India. Disney instead partnered with Hotstar, one of the local streaming services, so all Disney+ content is viewable only by taking a Hotstar+Disney plan. Hotstar is also where we get to see HBO shows. But now, Hotstar has lost the rights to show what is arguably the most popular cricket tournament in the country and will also be losing HBO content by the end of this month, which means many people have basically cancelled their Hotstar subscribtion in India, and that indirectly affects Disney and HBO as well.
LOL they can score all the fake social points they want, but they are going to lose money. Seems they forgot how to be a business, your there to make money, nor pander. They deserve to fail imo.
And this Black Panter issue. It was the most mediocre film I have ever seen. The only reason it keeps coming up as a example is due to the woke community making more of it that it is worth. Personally, I watched it once, I was bored, wouldn't watch it again. Not due to any racial issue or whatever, simply due to it being meh.
I've said this on every video lately that is triumpantly declaring an end to woke media. As long as ESG investing exists, this stuff isn't going to stop. These companies have to do what these woke investors want or they won't get all that sweet money.

When i was a kid 2 of my fav films were Aliens and Terminator, they had strong female leads, as in they overcame shit and drove the story but they also had kickass men working with them as EQUALS. Now strong female lead seems to mean they are OP AF and men look dumb, useless etc. Why?

I was fine with Bo katan saving mandolorian. What was really irritating was that he made no attempt at all to save himself . He didn’t even try to cut himself free with the dark saber, something he could have done quite easily . Like if he tried something and it failed and the. Bo Katan saved him I would have been fine with that

I am currently playing fallout new Vegas, you either die or don't and those who don't are either hiding behind a much stronger force or you are a bada**. Race, gender, and what someone identifies as doesn't matter. (I am playing a high barter, guns, and repair character and have got desert ranger armor just because I walked around through a canyon a bit, my main weapons are shotgun, grenade launcher, a huge sniper rifle, and shotguns. And I took the confirmed bachelor perk just for laughs with how it affects things.)
