The 5th Generation Honda Prelude is _THE_ best-looking street-legal consumer sports car ever made by Honda. It's also one of the best handling sports cars ever made by Honda. I love Preludes and more people should appreciate them!

I had a pearl white 99 Type SH when I was 17. It was my dream car and I got a job, made the payments, and couldn't' have been happier. An SUV ran a red light and hit my drivers side door, totaling the car. I miss it. This video brought back great memories, even though the car is so heavily modified and gutted, there's still some soul there. Thanks for this episode.
I had a chance to spend almost a whole day with Cory and his dad Bruce. Alongside with their crew these guys are straight awesome people. To see their Prelude in person is insane.
The WRD guys are some of the nicest people I've met, every single one of the people involved with this car is just good people. AND they just smashed the FWD record at Buttonwillow last weekend at GTA! They're killin' it!
Very sick Prelude - 5th gen has always been my favorite. Who else misses the 1990s JDM cars? Not a big fan of the style the newer model cars have taken - maybe its my age showing and I'm just being nostalgic to happier times.
Thanks for that video!!! I couldn't belive that I see mu boy dream car in this role, you bring me back in the time, in this 20 min I did feel young again. Thank you!!!
It was made to be a salaryman's "sports car" in the same way the Celica was a "sports car" after the 80's. The engines were the same as the common hatches/sedans but the body and suspension was changed/upgraded. The reason they weren't popular is that they were expensive compared to cars that came with the same engine/output and because of that there wasn't nearly as much aftermarket support. Look at the difference in support of the AE86 to the Celica A60/T160, same goes for the EG/EK civics and the BA/BB Prelude. It's a mad build to be sure, but there's a solid reason you didn't see many.
9:00 Totally agree I love the look of the older hondas and especially the late 80's accord. My best friend drove that car all throughout high school and I really want to own one someday.
Me and my old man rebuilt my prelude transmission because it would just eat differentials up.. every time I see a old machine it remains me of my dad🙏🏼
To think that I met you by racing you on the freeway, to taking you to our 1st time attack. Watching this build and all its battles has been amazing 👍🏽 glad to be even a small piece to this huge project.... LETS GO!!! WRD
Nothing like a Prelude. Owned 2 of them, 95 SE, and still own a 94 Si. Easily over 100k miles in between the pair. Such a pleasurable machine to pilot. It just feels...Right. Makes me giddy to see this build, at all, much less with an H-Series as it should be.
It's like the dohc zc motor of the Hondas because no one ever does stuff like that so it's always good to see something different or something better and something that somebody created with their own hands hell yeah 🙌💯💪😎🥳
Just had the pleasure of meeing and sharing a garage with the WRD Racing crew at Buttonwillow this weekend at the recent Global Time Attack event Can not emphasize enough how insanely nice these people are. Do yourself a favor and if you see them, go say hi!
Ludes will always have a place in my heart. They were born out race inspired Honda philosophy. My favorite body was the 1991 3rd gen. 2.1. Si with 4WS. It was a head turner which I owned for 10 years 👍👍👌
he's smart to use a type sh body, the suspension geometry is fundamentally different in the front. the base model uses a lower control arm and and radius arm that bolts to the lower control arm, then going to the knuckle with 1 ball joint. the type sh uses two lower control arms (although one is still referenced as a radius arm) and each has its own separate ball joint, or two ball joints per knuckle not including the upper control arm ball joint. I own a 2000 Premium White Pearl Prelude type SH and it makes me so happy to see people really pushing what the platform is capable of.
Love Preludes. I have one myself it was my first car love. He’s correct too these have double wishbone suspension you won’t get on Accords. And the engine sits lower to the ground and you have a sort of wedge shape. I never got why people complain about them being heavy, meanwhile they’re happy to build a 4-door Accord which were always heavier than Preludes.
I'll never understand why people don't give the Prelude the clout it deserves. I own a 4th Gen and when I say i out handle every RWD car I encounter on the back roads, I'm not even joking. And once I'm boosted (with just 300whp, not to mention the 420 shooting for), I would outrun 392's all day. It would take a Hellcat just to keep up. 💯
I say it every dam time Cory. PRELUDE PROUD! You've been getting hot the past few months. Seeing the Lude on a Hoonigan thumbnail has to be the milestone. Congrats and continue to kill it! 🙏💪

I never understood why the 5th gens weren't as popular as the Civic's and Integras at the time. Meaning, the Prelude look's way better and far more sophisticated than the other two, not to mention, a way more powerful engine and has better suspension. I've always wanted one ever since they came out in 97 and i finally got one. The driving dynamics is impressive even today. I take it up to the canyons 2 to 3 times a week. It's a driver's car.
