Every box is different bin its own way…it’s never boring but very interesting to find out..what’s wrong and what’s needed..keep it up its great viewing 😁😁
Hi Mike, Love the videos, dude. Between you and landrover toolbox videos, i think we're going to secure the future of lr maintenance. Bit of advice if I may.. I took Wilfred_the_110 to the Alrad 4x4 show in Germany a few weeks back, and basically, the LT77 gear box gave up when we arrived. When I took my foot off the accelerator, there was a chucking sound and the gearbox sounded like a bag of bolts, as soon as I put my foot back on and thus sending power down the drive train it was fine. Until it wasn't. My lates video shows more details. What do you think it could be? I have been gifted early LT77 50A suffex E as a stop gap once the truck is returned but I'm thinking of dropping in an R380 with a 1:2 transfer box for more overlanding style of vehicle. Thanks in advance Dan
I have to test the R380 that the rear bearing housing was repaired - will do that tomorrow - the forklift tyre held me up this week Will send you a list of part for the bad shaft R380 I will have another look at the clicking LT230 tomorrow
I understand the argument for the bearing in cast iron, but in my book , bearings runs very smooth until nearly end of life , so unless the bear ring is under very light load , it might be worth go the extra mile ? BTW miss your unboxing , feels like Xmas on a hot day 🙂
there are no mecanics like you around anymore. yeah, they say they do and can and will do. but you will loose a lot of money, you have to wait for ever and you will loose your gearbox pretty soon. do you really think that anyone has anyway to test the repaired gearbox before sending it out - never my gearbox is talking so pretty soon i have to face it. the more i see and your chanel is my favorite, less panic i have to get one day started.
It's never boring no matter how many times you do it.
Thanks!

Never boring. The shaft won't be cheap but at least it's not a full rebuild kit too. Hope you're doing okay. How is the container bunkhouse going?
always interesting and always something new - thx king mike
happy weekend for you too
Thanks, you too!

Gee, it could be anything - once a gearbox goes it is like a grenade going off in the casing!
When can you send out the other r380 and 2 lt230s?
Or 2 r380s and 2 lt230s then I'll get parts for that one in this video

Wasn't my r380 ones I bought lol just for anyone judging me lol
Actually it is not that bad - the crud inside was bad but with a set of rings and a shaft it should be OK

This gear only runs when in reverse, so 99.99% of the time it is idling - hence the name
@@BritannicaRestorations of-cause!
Hi Mike going to change gearbox oil this week on 97 300 tdi swb - lots of people say only use redline - but what would you recommend please. Ta

OK Lol!
I'll second that! I'm actually starting to recognise some of the bits!!
