I highly doubt the missionaries fired on an armed gang that just robbed them, sounds like a BS attempt to pass some blame for an indefensible act.

It’s terrible to see this but I mean, being a missionary in a country in the middle of a civil war is not a smart move.

Jesus never charged people with doing the "smart" thing. He said it would be difficult and deadly. And so it goes.

Missionaries in general are not smart. Pushing their religion and beliefs on people is the dumbest thing ever. People aren't lost or evil because they don't follow the same brainwashing as they do.

That’s all well and good. But I can’t be quite as sad for them because they willingly went into danger, rather than being a completely blindsided victim of it.

My brother lives in Mexico, he loves it!
He's been there for a year or so now and it works for him. He learned Spanish in college and blends in well with his olive skin and dark hair/eyes. He works for a US company from his laptop and makes enough money to live in the US very comfortably, but is happy there and gets to save most of his money, only needing to spend a fraction of it to still live a high-end lifestyle.
Not gonna lie, we were nervous for him at first, listening to the media, but he assured us that he's in beautiful communities (he was moving every few months at first, checking the country out) the pics of his surroundings and apt. are gorgeous! No, he's not in tourist areas. He also said that the idea that most people coming across the US border are Mexicans is not true, that people go *through Mexico* into the US, but are coming mostly from Central/South America.

The media loves to paint it as Chaos in Haiti when the violence is in Port-au-Prince. The rest of the country is relatively calm with beautiful beaches and farm land.

First, my prayers are with their families because this entire episode is tragic. Second, I've always been of the notions God gave us brains, and we need to use them, AND God helps those who help themselves. There are certain places in the world that many Westerners should not go... especially the whyte ones. Haiti is one of those places for now. Many citizens of developing nations blame the collective West for their problems... and they would be correct to do so because we are to blame.
