I knew Kitty FIscher as a good friend in my Australian years, and I am delighted to see this video memorialising her experience, which she often told. I attended her funeral, after a very moving memorial service.
@@ember-brandt I believe the comment is about leadership and how it can go to a person's head-ego-whatever. faithdavis is not comparing her to Hitler. Don't always look for the bad in people. Reading things slowly and without being defensive helps.
even if he didn’t die in the camp, he would’ve been sent to jail. when the camps were liberated the soviets sent the men who wore the pink triangles (gay men) to german prison. gay men were never liberated.
Awww what an amazing man. Heartbreaking what prejudice does.. how awesome that he was so open about it but i guess he had to be when they marked him with a pink triangle...
God Bless her soul. Kitty was a powerful mentor in my life. i never saw this before, and know so many of her stories. She always visited me, and wanted small potatoes with lots of butter fried onions for lunch. My God I miss her!
Amazing testimony. Riveting. God bless this woman and her protector. I have to say that was a very strange question to ask her, 'why you? was it because you spoke such good German?" which then leads her down a reaction path, when he just simply should have listened to her experience and not interpret or project upon her.
Homosexuals played a big part during world war II whther they were part of the resistance or they were prisoners in concentration camps taking care of the children and the other prisoners. You see gay people, whether you like us or not, play a vital role in society. So please do not underestimate our capabilities.
God drew me to him when i wa in the mist of tragedies, so I can understand that people who suffered the Holocaust believed In God as it is not God who inflicts cruelty on people, but human beings. Homosexuals are human beings to be respected

I love how gay people feel like as if this was a victory for gays. I wonder how many straight men were the ones that stormed the beaches and did the fighting. I think maybe 1 out of every 1 million might of been gay lmfao. Lets here it for the straight men!!! Wooohooo
One gay man saved 14 million lives in World War II by breaking the German Enigma Code and ending the war years early. You aren't a man at all compared to him. You have far more in common with the Nazis.
There were plenty of gay men in the military of all countries that were able to hide their real feelings from themselves and others. Many passed as straight men. That takes real courage, discipline and tenacity!
Hello Slapz K. I am reading a wonderful book called Coming out under fire, gay men and women in the military. It has stories and history of gay men and women serving during WW2. Please check it out. The army during WW2 was not as straight as people make it out to be. I'm sure many gay men or bi men stormed the beaches as well. Please understand this. Thanks so much
Pride? Pride in what? a sexual choice? how do you have pride in that? so, should heterosexuals have pride too? for that choice? nothing to have pride about.
grizz tough being gay isn’t a choice tho. i didn’t wake up one day and decide “lol im gonna eat pussy now”. i never liked boys, always thought they were gross and ugly. when i got my first crush on a girl i finally realized. i didn’t look at her and say “damn lol im gonna have a crush on her now”. it was like heterosexual crushes, involuntary. sure some people will fake being gay because they want to be special, but that’s less than 10% of the community.
The pride comes from sadly many lgbt people not having good feelings about themselves and how others make them feel about the themselves. So pride is more about giving confidence to one another more then anything.
@@grizztough4091 sweetheart a person who is gay is gay if they have sex or not. Just like you are straight if you have sex or not. You seem to be very ignorant on this topic.
Pride that we get to be ourselves. Pride that we can be open about who we love. Pride we don't have to hide, to be scared of being beaten, to be killed in the streets, that we don't have to be scared of what people are going to think. Pride we finnaly can be ourselves for once.

wow. glad she made it... hope our gay brother survived the war as well ...
This is fascinating. I wish there were more footage and information about people who wore the Pink Triangle. This would make a great documentary.
ratt57 there’s one documentary called Paragraph 175 you might want to check out. I believe I found it (for free) on Vimeo at some point.
There was one on here called The Pink Triangles by James Somerton but guess who took it down? It's now on Vimeo and can be found on Google
she remembered his whole story despite everything else at the time
Makes sense. Trauma is usually either seared into a person's brain permanently or entirely blocked out. It's never chronicled casually in the brain.

Look what Hitler did with his leadership.

Does anyone know who this man was or what became of him? What about her sister? Did she make it?
gays will always look out for women.
may the man who helped her be among the blessed.
Imagine that paragraph 175 remained in effect till 1994 in the German law, although it was modified slighthly in the 60s and 70s

The Germans thought it necessary to give gay men a pink star to wear.
I guess they thought it was funny. A man wearing pink will certainly stand out.
God bless his memory. I hope he survived.
That's so interesting. Schindler wasn't the only one then.
There were many people who didn't submit to the Nazis.
Maybe part of why he noticed you, was because you didn't spit on him.
Did her sister get on the list too?
Turn up the sound. Would you please?
