I just started thinking about using the stuff..heard about it but never really used anything for my hair past shampoo when I take a bath. I usually get a buzz cut when it's time for a hair cut but as I get older..I actually like the fact my hair forms a natural pompadourish shape on it's own..it's done it since I was in my early teens. Take back after my grandpa who had the same thing going on for him when he was younger before he started losing his hair as he got older. Went to the store for groceries the other day and saw all the different ones and though "how the hell do I chose one...? Do I just get the cheapest one for my budget or get one of the pricey ones?"
Me and my freinds act like grease I act like dallas Winston cool not wanting to do legal stuff. My other friend acts like two bit joking. But my other one is like Johnny cade a nervous reck
Are you married? How does the greaser lifestyle effect dating, marriage, and children? Or does marriage tend to end the rebellious spirit and cease the grease?
Tres Flores man OG that was my first pomade next to Murray's but remember the pomade don't make the greaser. The way you live life is what makes the greaser.
The first time I tried to put my hair in a pompadour, I put a *whole* bottle of Vaseline in my hair *and then* put in the pomade.. the Vaseline ended up staying in my hair for weeks lol
Layrite and hair spray works for my thin and straight hair, although hair dye does effect the properties of it a bit, makes it feel like there’s already something in there.
Totally agree, I started greasing around the same time as you. You're right nobody talked about it all that much. Well mostly because I was the only greaser in the little town where I'm from. But when I did meet another greaser, we never talked about what kind of pomade we used. I used three flowers back then, mainly because that's all that was available at the little general store I used to shop at in my hometown. Now I use Murray's, because well there's no shortage of Walgreens in Albuquerque. Anyways, being a greaser isn't about what kind of pomade someone uses. It's about the lifestyle. I enjoyed your story about your family history. You come from a family of barbers, I come from a family of mechanics and cowboys. The story of the bet your grandfather won, kinda reminds me of a similar bet my dad won. A guy from out of town needed his tires changed as fast as possible, so he could get back on the road for his business trip. My dad told him he'd have it done in ten minutes. One of my dad's friends made a bet that my dad couldn't do it. Now you're probably thinking ten minutes to change tires, that's nothing. Well sure if you have all the fancy tire machines and shit, which my dad didn't have. He did it all by hand, right there in our little home shop. Which was a simple car port, gravel driveway, a tool shed, an air compressor and a few work benches. Anyways, my dad did it all from taking the tires off the car to balancing them, in ten minutes flat. My dad made twenty bucks, plus the hundred dollars he won from the bet.
Yo mad man do you need to have a pomp to be a greaser? My hair is naturally curly and wavey and no matter what product i use, it never looks right. My hair is more on the James Dean side.
we didn’t really speak about pomade only until the water based started coming out. Since before it it was almost the same Dax Murray’s. Distinct memory was only they would ask “ur using flores right” because of the strong smell lol.
Personally I have preferences of pomade not because of the brand, but because some things just work better with my hair, however I’ll use whatever I could to grease my hair lol
The only problem I have with pomade is that the stuff stays in your hair, but I NEVER get it back in shape or back to its original firmness the next day... I can't wash it out everyday with shampoo, because this will DESTROY my hair. Anyone got any advice on that? Please? I am DESPERATE
I know this is an old comment, but more than likely, your product isn't making it down to the roots when ln you put it in. I work mine in really well with my fingers first, then comb it all back to evenly coat, style after that. After about 3 days of buildup it works and looks awesome
Unfortunately you'll find in every subculture people who think they have to tell how you have to dress, to behave or to style inside a subculture. It's like a science to make it 100% "authentic", but they forget, that back in the days people did their own thing with style and dress..unfortunately it seems that this attitude get lost.
Yeah so true dude! It's like they try to make it a science or a math equation lol. I always stuck to tradition and try to uphold what is important about the sub culture. The over all experience was more than enough to get me hooked!
@@krypticart6306 agreed mate. I really like to discover new things every day about style, music and subcultures in general. And imo it's important to take it with a smile ;)

Hey Madman! Im a young greaser, started just a few days ago (ill be 16 in two months) and i have a question. What do i do with acne? Mine is not that horrible but it gets bad sometimes. Should i try to cover it? Leave it alone?
If you're asking if it'll interfere with the style then no😅. I mean We all cant have radiant skin hell I have some acne myself but I still look good af
My grandfather told me that when he was a kid, him and his friends stole a pair of manual clippers and gave eachother haircuts, they also used egg whites as pomade

You mean La Cosa Nostra, or mexican mafia? The older generation of the La Cosa Nostra, or the mob. Like Charles "Lucky" Luciano, Frank Costello, Myer Lansky, and more were alright. They were still stone cold murderers, and hardcore gangsters, and hustlers. But they didn't like getting innocent people involved. They kept the violence in shadows, between each other. Truthfully most of them like making money more than the violence, and it's hard to make money when everyone's killing each other. Back then there was a code of silence, no discussing business with outsiders, or near outsiders. The mexican mafia on the other hand are a prison/street gang that are the exact opposite of the mob. Honestly, mob way of life is one of fear, creed, mistrust, and violence. Wiseguys are not good guys, all of them have killed people. Some are not afraid to torture people, if they need to. I know movies like to romantize gangsters, but believe me it's anything but romantic. Stick to being a greaser, trust me you'll live longer.
