  • This video is all about the inspiring Melodicer Eurorack sequencer. I give an overview of a lot of functions and play around with the module in a musical context. I had the feeling I was making a composition on the fly - so I really had a lot of fun working with this module!
    Thanks to Vermona for sending me over the Melodicer for this video.
    Here some of the modules I use in this clip:

    Goodness! That was wonderful! As I journey into trying to figure out how I want to form melodies on the fly, this is definitely something to look at. Do you have any experience with the Stochatic Instruments Sig? And if so, any thoughts on where each is stronger or weaker? The size of the melodicer seems to be one area of difference where it might give more room to navigate playing live but take up more room.

    • @MaikSchott
      @MaikSchott  ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Hello! superb presentation! well done! it sounds wonderfully good! I just bought a Melodicer and I'm struggling a bit to connect it, I connected the 1V/oct input of the Melodicer to the oct input of my Nano Ona but for the gate of the Melodicer I don't know where to connect it...and the CV in and gate in inputs of the Melodicer, what are they for? sorry for these questions but I'm struggling a bit, and as you know the Melodicer well, I'm taking advantage of it…😁🙏 Thank you very much and congratulations for the quality of your videos which are incredible! I have my melodicer Gate going to a WMD envelope most VCO's need a VCA envelope to keep in from staying on and the envelope gate in is where the gate goes. that works for me. Sorry mike I'm answering your questions.
      VCO out to envelope in / envelope out to mixer then speakers. Melodicer 1vper octave to VCO 1vper octave in/ Melodicer gate out to gate in on the envelope DONE

    Another great demo with very musical ideas - great work! Just curious, in your video, there's a blue cable connected to the Melodicer's gate-in-1. Where's this CV coming from, and how is it modulating the Melodicer? Thanks Mr Maik!

    • @MaikSchott
      @MaikSchott  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you John. I think the blue cable in the gate in resets the Melodicer on the first beat. Means whenever I stop and start again the Melodicer always starts from the beginning and not where it stopped.
      The signal comes from the drum sequencer from Erica synths.

      Since this is a Vermona case, I want to say also, like a lot of Vermona stuff that flies under the radar, the Vermona Unicycle are some of the best and most versatile oscillators I’ve ever used or heard, and I’ve tried most of them. Very sweet sounding, interesting wave outs, extremely stable tracking, only 10 hp and FMs amazingly well.

      You mean technically or melodic ally? I just jammed and did some chord arpeggios. Then played around with the harmonies.

    • @digitalvamp
      @digitalvamp 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The reason I ask to explain the patch is because if you had just the mellow
      -dicer alone it doesn't make arpeggios it fires of random notes that are far from musical but you harnessed the randomness quantized to a scale and added modules to arpeggiate it in perfect tune? What module is arpeggiating the mellow-dicer? I see your model list but none of them is an arp module? Am I wrong ? You are zoomed out a little far to see the names of the modules. Thanks

    • @digitalvamp

      It is hard to tell with words but as I already mentioned your bass is NOT only a held out note as "baaaaaaaa..." but there is a rhythm (pulsation of that. TU TATA TU TATA...for example at 2:12...You knwow. what makes it rhythmic? Because your oscillator gives only a constant "baaaaa....." sound with no rhythm of the sound. But in your patch is rhythmic. Hope it is more clear now. thx

    • @MaikSchott

      I was talking about chord progressions, you see. An arpeggio plays certain notes form chords - the 1, 3 and the 5 for example.
      And with the Melodicer you can move from one chord to another one with these sliders.
      That's why I am talking about chords. And chord progressions.
