My great grandfather was the lord mayor of Stockton on Tees in 1899. I live in Seattle. I was born in London. We have cousins in Stockton. charming people.

Parmo delicious too well done on your video captures a bit of my beloved Stockton on tees.
Stockton-on-Tees, home of sounditout records. Used to love spending an hour or two in there flicking through the vinyl. He used to have a turntable on the counter for listing to what u were looking through. An old battered gemini deck i think. Then he upgraded to an SL1210 mk2. Smooth move Tom
Stockton-on-Tees is also my hometown. You've done it a great service with this video. What do you think of Stockton now compared to when you moved here? Do you like the changes the High Street has undergone for example?
Hi! Thanks for the reply. Indeed we do have some quaint shops. We need to encourage more of these and then we shall truly have a high street to be proud of. Have you ever visited Drakes the Bookshop?

Given that Norton's a village, I'm surprised that you necessarily want to regard yourself as a suburb of Stockton, even though Norton's county is Stockton unitary council.
@@KatLozano They're in the process of tearing it down - was news to me too as I hardly ever go to the town centre. Another vanity project to blow the spare cash they have accumulated so they can justify increasing the council tax year on year. 🤮
I just got my residence here, exactly at the same place as you, so can I call it my English hometown as well? haha, good to see a fellow Latino around the area.
Thank you for this, I'm thinking of moving my family to stockton. It looks lovely and the prices are so reasonable. What areas would you say are the best?
Hi Katt! It depends on your house preference and budget. Yarm and Eaglesciffe Cliff are lovely nearby villages, if you're wanting a village feel. In Stockton- I'd highly suggest looking at areas like Hartburn, Fairfield, and Norton. If you can, drive around the areas at various times of the day. But also, use the "street view" on Rightmove and Google Maps. As sometimes, like all towns and cities, you can go one street over and it's like a different area. Good luck!
@@KatLozano Thank you for getting back to me. We were looking at Norton so it's great to have confirmation 😊 fingers crossed it all runs smoothly 🤞and maybe I'll be seeing you soon! (in a non-stalker way 😂)
It was a TH-camr thing...at the time it seemed like a good idea, but I may ditch it in the future... I didn't think I'd get this many views! Thanks for watching! :)
NORTON GREEN, BILLINGHAM, DARLINGTON, MIDDLESBROUGH, NEWCASTLE, STOCKTON, YORK & YARM - NEIGHBOURS AND LOCAL HISTORY IN THE NORTH OF ENGLAND Most people living in the North of England think they know their neighbours and local history but how would you know your neighbour worked for MI6? Most who knew the Fairclough family didn’t have a clue that from the seventies Bill Fairclough was a secret agent (MI6 codename JJ) working for various intelligence agencies. What’s more they had no idea he was following in his parents’ footsteps. Bill's parents met during the Second World War when his father, ostensibly working for Imperial Chemical Industries (ICI), worked secretly on creating bombs to wipe out the Nazi's industrial hinterland. They married in Yarm in 1941. After the war in Europe ended in May 1945, Dr Richard Alan Fairclough continued to work for British Intelligence (MI1). Not long after retiring from ICI in the seventies, Richard Fairclough opened and ran an antiquarian book shop business in Yarm until his death in 1987. The book shop was a bit of an enigma as it was also a haunt for spooks. When not gated at St Peter’s School, York Bill Fairclough spent most of his childhood and early teens in the North East of England. As a child in the fifties he was educated at Red House School in Norton. He lived in Billingham and then in a vast white house (once the home of the poet Percy Bysshe Shelley) in Norton Green overlooking the duck pond. In Bill’s teens, the Faircloughs lived in Middleton St George and later in Yarm. He also lived in flats he rented near nightclubs he helped run during the late sixties and early seventies in Portrack, Stockton-on-Tees and Jesmond in Newcastle upon Tyne. Conveniently for him they were near the offices of the firm of Chartered Accountants he worked for in Middlesbrough and Newcastle upon Tyne. So if you lived, worked or visited any of these places you may well have unwittingly encountered this “spooky” family, been their neighbours or inhabited the houses they lived in. A quick web-search will even disclose some of the addresses where they lived. Mind you, if you live in any of them now, best sweep them for bugs! Details of where the Faircloughs lived and worked are given in most of Bill Fairclough’s bios on the web such as can be found at everipedia.org/wiki/lang_en/bill-fairclough. If you were as fascinated as we were, you can also read the raw fact based thriller Beyond Enkription, the first stand-alone novel to be released in The Burlington Files series (theburlingtonfiles.org/#/reviews). It’s a memorable and distinctively different noir espionage thriller based on his and his family’s experiences in 1974.
Jesus god... you must REALLY love your man to move to Stockton. It's a dreadful town with serious deprivation and social issues. I escaped in the early 90's. But I'll admit Trader Jacks was always a good pub if there still open.
I half expected someone to be like "Got 20p for the bus mate" and 2 bagheads fighting in the water fountain over a bag of smack 😂😂😂
