Hey Guys dancing will be different in all movies and same time not as intense and according to the required plot... Sometimes Indian movies have weird dance numbers or songs as well which are nowhere close to the plot... so the more you see it the more you know it... So next time, if you see a song in any Indian movie doesn't mean you will see some hardcore dancing as well.. watch PK or Dangal (same actor)

Yo this editor so sick. He didn't even show the guys face who didn't watch a movie. 😂😂 That's what you get for showing up on job without doing work. 😂😂
Thank you. There have been several recommendations for Padmavat. I'm looking forward to watching but we may not review it. We appreciate you commenting!
Guys dancing in the film relies on character and sometimes actors too in Indian movies. 😂 So if there's a actor who is really good at dancing but the character itself doesn't require to be seen as professional dancer like in the case of these students then actors won't dance like professional dancer. 😂 I hope it makes sense. Also, Indian mainstream movies rely on melodrama, entertainment value, emotions and symbolism more than anything else. So don't try to take everything literally you see in the film. It's made for entertainment. Also if you want to see more grounded and realistic films, then Indian cinema offers that too. You should start with the movie Lunchbox.
Thank you for your explanation. The Indian culture is different but I've enjoyed some of the recommendations - especially like this film. I see it as pure entertainment but also like the Asian style melodrama - very much about one's core beliefs and values - a sense of righteousness. We appreciate you commenting and apologize for the delay in replying. I'll look for Lunchbox. Thanks again.
I've seen Bahubali 1 & 2. I liked them more than RRR. I want to see Dangal since I enjoy Amir Khan. I'll check out the other titles your list. Thank you for the recommendations! We appreciate you commenting.
We have been watching more Bollywood films and we’re getting used to the 3 hours length. Makes sense in order to tell a more detailed story. Thanks for the comments 🙂
Good discussion! Sorry about the long comment. Most do not know this and even the kids of this generation would not know this. Here is some more generic historical info on why there are songs in Indian movies. The whole Indian film industry is almost more than a century old. So, Indian films and dramas during those years served as a form of pressure release and fed a form of inspiration to get freedom from the British. And then in Independent India after all the British chaos and looting, the very poor of the poorest were the majority of the population. Films, Cinema, and theatre were out of reach for the common man. Then after some more decades when Radio, theatre, and portable bioscope became more common and was a sort of paid entertainment, for the people. But still, people would not come to cinemas to watch the film as they more interested in seeing the actual drama theatre rather than the film( On stage Drama, historical drama, and patriotic drama still contained songs and the message was more effective with songs). So, the media companies wanted to somehow tap the market and decided to go for cassette tapes. In the US, Music studios would produce a song and would release the song/songs as cassettes or CDs, or records. That is it. It would not be connected to any movie. But in India, as the movie made little money back they would add 5-7 songs in 99.99% of the earlier Indian movies and would release the cassette tapes first. So, people would buy cassette tapes and hear the " Movie songs" before the movie even got released. Records were a luxury item so cassette tapes would sell more. Even if they did not make the money back from the movie they would still get sales from the cassette. Remember this is not a music studio making this. This is Flim media studio. There were some independent artists, Classical Indian singers, who would release albums but they were not much of a hit like how it happens in the US. People loved movie songs more than independent songs as the songs were tied to the movies. There is a big market in India just for classical/traditional songs. These are masters trained from age ~3 to 5. That is how seriously they take classical/traditional singing. So, the tradition continued for many decades till the internet era. By the 80s-90s the number of songs was reduced to 3-5. By this time most of the market was middle class. They would flood to theatres to watch the movies. After the 2000's the songs were just there and nobody took it out and carried on the tradition till now. By now most of the movies(~80-90%) have songs 1-3 songs and most of the songs will be based on the scene they were in. The songs are tied in with the plot of the story instead of just dropping off a song randomly. As for Dharma, It means more or less "Do what must be done according to your Dharma even if it is an unpleasant one(not wrongdoing)". In common people's terms for eg., The police's duty is to protect the innocent, serve the public, and all that. So, even if he/she is scared or does not like it it is the Dharma to do his duty. A Kings Dharma is to rule well even if he does not like his position and may sometimes have to make hard decisions it is his duty to rule well(whether he actually rules well or not)! Only each individual will know what his/her Dharma is and must act accordingly to his calling. Most will not realize their dharma until they are old, or even in their lifetime. In modern times people move according to other people, society, social pressure, and all that. So, finding the dharma will help. Karma will come later based on the Dharma performed! This is the gist of what I can understand. Also, I would love to see your take on "Kantara". I'm sure most of you are non-religious. Even me! But would love to hear your perspective on it. The movie is interesting to me.
Thank you for explaining the film & music connection in India. I noticed sometimes people just review the music from Indian cinema. I had read about Dharma using the same example of a king and a tiger. I saw Kantara. I enjoyed the opening and ending immensely! I'm not a religious person but I admired the spiritual story. A deal is made to protect the village with a demi god and I especially liked the line about - how Purjuli may forgive if you err but Guliga will not. I thought Shetty was excellent. Thanks for taking time to comment. We appreciate you watching.
