Sahara Desert of Marrakesh - Meeting the Berber People of Morocco

- Just outside of Marrakech, Morocco, are the Atlas mountains and the indigenous people that live there known as the Berbers. On today's travel, the locals gave us a raw and real look into their daily lives. After we went on a "Sahara style" adventure without going on the 9 hour drive from Marrakech to the Sahara desert with LG gram, a fantastic, portable travel laptop. Scarabeo camp just outside of Marrakesh gave us the next best thing with camel rides, luxury tents, and incredible star gazing. We actually did the 3 day Sahara trip. Basically passed through the highest pass in the Atlas Mountains called Tizi Tichka down to the town of Ouarzazate. There, we visited the Atlas Studios and Kasbah Taourirt and close by we went to the UNESCO site Ait Ben Haddou. After that, we headed close to Dades where we stayed overnight. Next day, we seen the Dades Canyons/Gorge and seen the Todra Gorge. From there, we seen a few other sites until we got to Merzouga - that's where we got on the camels and went into the Sahara up the Erg Chebbi sand dunes before we came to the Berber tents where we stayed overnight and yes the stars at night were incredible - make sure you bring an extra layer of clothing as the desert can be chilly at night. Next day, we were picked up and they took us to an incredible area where you see the sunrise on the sand dunes, just wow!!. We went back on the camel ride and dropped off in Merzouga in our minivan and headed straight back to Marrakesh - it was a 10 hour journey back including a few stops for lunch and tea - we arrived back at our riad around 8pm. It cost me 60GBP per person a few years ago to do this but it was seriously worth it

Berber people say Azul not Salam . Salam it's so arabic .. but we use it in Moroccan language ( dialect )
@PolSmokesPot ! we berbers greet each other always with salaam im berber and i have never heard of azul before until recent dont know where it came from. Greeting each other with salaam is not bad because Its arabic..our prophet is arabic and we love arabic and our religion.

Sorry, I know this is a really negative comment. I've been following Christian since his early days and I'm happy to see him doing well. But to be honest I'm just not as excited to see a new video as I use to be and am starting to loose interest.
The World n Us I am just as excited for new videos as I was when I first discovered him. Actually, I’d rather him make more money to make even greater films in more exotic locations. Remember, a couple of product placements and some mentions of his travel guides are a small price to pay for all the free content he’s providing on TH-cam.

Hey guys! I think this is actually a constructive comment and I appreciate all feedback. I totally understand where you're coming from because I was feeling the very same way. I just wanted to take a second to explain how difficult it can be to balance content schedules when working with brands. Typically in this business, you have dry months (no deals / no money / and huge travel expenses) and then you have other months where you seem to get all the branded opportunities at once. This was one of those months. Now getting deals is difficult enough, but the other challenge is ensuring that you meet your clients deadlines. Typically there is about a 3-5 week period required to close a deal + film the video + send rough draft video for approval + receive approval, and finally from there your video should be ready to post. Now imagine you have 3 or 4 of these videos in the pipeline. It's super tough to properly stagger them so that they don't end up back to back to back. In this case they did but I hope this helps you understand why there is a recent string of sponsored content. It's certainly not my intention but from time to time it will happen.
It's no surprise that travel is a very expensive genre on TH-cam, especially as I'm trying to expand my videos globally so I hope you can understand that the channel requires awesome brand partnerships like this one with LG to continue.

Christian, thanks for your response. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a TH-camr respond in such a classy manner to a negative comment. But you are right that my intension with this comment was as constructive feedback. Thanks for sharing some insight on how these brand deals work. I didn’t realise the quick turnaround around expected as well as having to submit the content to the sponsor. This must put a huge amount of pressure on you to get out quality travel content and incorporate these products in a creative way. You seem to handle it all very well. Keep up the great work 👊

You keep confusing Tajine with TANGIA. The first is traditionally the triangular shaped pot cooked on charcoal. This can be meat, chicken or fish with vegetables. The second is a rectangular shaped pot traditionally filled with lamb meat and herbs cooked in an underground oven.
