Making An Audi A6 Whine Like A Hellcat!

- Installing a CTS Turbo intake on my brothers 2012 C7 Audi A6. It really screams as soon as you get into boost, but it's really neat because you can stay in the lower RPMs and the car is a total sleeper! Sounds like a V6 Hellcat LOL.
Mods:
- APR stage 1 tune
- Secondary cat deletes
-CTS Turbo 3.5" Intake
As far as power goes, I have no idea, however, my butt-dyno says 380-400whp.

There's a *huge* problem with this intake, having one on my A6.. It makes me drive like a doucebag, because I want to wind it out and hear it whine everywhere I go! :)

Now you just need to plumb a little 1-inch sound tube from the intake into the dashboard and you'll REALLY hear it.

It was definitely exciting! I was honestly so surprised to hear such a massive difference just from an intake, I guess I’m just used to naturally aspirated cars haha😁

I know im late to the party but does it make noise while crusing on the highway? I'm thinking of getting one but I travel in between states for college and don't wanna be annoyed with it whining when crusing for hours on the highway. Love how it sounds when you get on it tho!
Nope! As long as you’re not under a decent bit of load while in boost you don’t hear anything, sounds stock while cruising🤟
exaxtly... the sound starts when you put your foot to the floor and over - let's say - 4,5k rpms

I got the the same intake set up on mine I love to hear it scream does anyone know if apr offers a crackle tune. I’m stuck between them and IE
Just got some input from the guy who owns this car, he said: “apr doesn’t make a crackle tune for the 3.0. apr is likely slightly closer to stock reliability (it’s also just a bigger brand that gives slightly more sense of security i guess), but i’ve seen builds with 500/600whp running on IE tunes, so imagine they’re perfectly fine. IE is the only reputable company i know of that makes crackle tunes for the 3.0”

I have the APR stage 2, it gurgles on downshifts and revs, bumped the revs to 7k also race starts are much better. Not overly aggressive. also have header back exhaust so flow is even.

cannot find a thing except an already installed pipercross sponge airfilter that was supposed to squeeze a little bit of the soun but as suspected - just gives a bit better air suction to these 400+ HPs :) Maybe the smaller pulley makes a difference also? Either way I'd love my A6 to resemble my GT500 a bit in sound... I'm freakin' addicted to that jet starting noise...

Used black zip ties and connected it to whatever we could use as an anchor point, as all of the OEM mounting points are slightly off-it won’t fit perfectly, but it’s better than nothing and still looks fine when you’re looking at the bay!
Yo, dont know if you gonna answer, but would appreciate it. The APR tune makes it so you can rev higher by increasing the redline, right. Isn’t that bad for the engine or is it increased by a safe amout?
Depends how much you redline it, and how long you wait to shift ect, just don’t go ripping it to redline every minute

Yeah unfortunately it wouldn’t fit the 2.0L-downpipes/tune would probably be a better alternative for performance!

As long as it’s the 3.0L supercharged motor, yes! If everything else is stock other than the intake you should still get the exact same whine
Hey I’m wanting to buy a 2012 A6. What can you say about the reliability? I’m prepared to do small repairs and stuff, but I’m not sure about getting one if big problems are likely to come up.
They’re honestly pretty reliable, aside from basic maintenance they don’t seem to need much! However, it seems like this one goes though brake pads/rotors really quickly, but that could be the result of stopping quickly from a high speed in such a big car

It’s actually my brothers so I’m not sure exactly, but I believe he’s got ~80k+ miles on it
they have a very specific issue The timing belt Guild always wares out around 120k miles 900$ fix but besides that SOLID car
My has 155k and still driving good, it’s my daily drive to work

I got a 2012 a6 and it has 113,000 and I’m thinking of doing APR stage 1 .. there’s other people with higher mileage and still mod the cars .. just take care of it .. join Audi clubs in Facebook

If I remember correctly, both the I4 and V6 Camry’s are naturally aspirated, so an intake would not provide the supercharged whine unfortunately!

It comes with a heat shield, but I would assume so as it’s not really a true cold air intake. More for sound in my opinion🤷♂️

Only under load, I’d say at least 20% throttle to hear it. You can definitely drive without hearing it at low load so it’s not super intrusive or annoying

I would recommend an intake, it’s hilarious to hear a luxury sedan make that noise, and I’m sure there’s some performance gain somewhere there😅 This car also has catless downpipes and an x-pipe now, so I’ll be posting an update video in the near future!

These intakes work on B8/B8.5 S4’s with the 3.0L TFSI supercharged motor, however the B9’s are a turbocharged platform so this specific intake wouldn’t work!

Nope! This is the gas/petrol engine

They don’t make a kit specifically for the A6, however this intake kits fits the 3.0T engines. One thing to note is that the heat shield brackets will not line up, which isn’t a huge deal.

Yeah the mounting points on the heat shield/pcv are different, so zip ties are your friend here haha but it’s easy to hide them underneath-the intake itself is a direct fit to the throttle body though, no issues there

Not from the intake-I believe it was from the car being catless and fouling the primary O2 sensor
I installed the injen a7 intake on my 2010 a6 and it did give me p0491 p0492 because the filter was not open on the end where the SAI looks to suck in filter air..but with a dremel and general skills you can modify to fit.

Stock pulleys-pulls much harder even though it’s just stage 1/essentially stock. Out-launches my C63 with ease from a dig, and takes me a while to reel it back in, I’m very impressed by it!

Only under load, you can absolutely cruise without any SC noise🤟
Audi came out with their A6 supercharger in 2008. The slow American car engineers, came out with theirs in the hellcat in 2015.
Yeah the Germans were definitely ahead with the forced induction powertrains for the most part, but American cars are great as well!🤟

This is for the 3.0L TSFI(supercharged) engines, which wouldn’t be applicable to the N/A V6’s unfortunately!
