@@DankcatvacsIronically they did and that's why nobody wanted diesels in the U.S. GM did such a terrible job with their diesel cars and trucks that people were swapping them to gasoline engines regularly from how frequently they died.

I own the 2014 328d wagon xdrive. Super fun, fast, sporty, simple and great miles average 40 per gallon. Seats are nice except for longer road trips. Higher cost matainance and parts. I absolutely love this car.
These wagons are like unicorns in the state...hell the other day I saw a late model JAGUAR wagon and was totally shocked, I didn't even know they made one! These Bimmers are super rare as well, especially with a DIESEL, as Americans gave up wagons decades ago because they were seen as "un cool" and diesels never caught on in passenger cars after GM's horrible and unreliable early 80's V8 diesel that was used in sedans (saloons) and wagons (estates)
I own this exact car and it’s the best car I’ve ever owned. 2014 328d Wagon with the Luxury package (20 spoke wheels, rear windows sunshade, heated rear seats etc). “Dad strength” hits the nail on the head lol. With only 180hp and 280 ft-lbs you wouldn’t think the thing would move, but it easily can get to 60 in 7 seconds and it cruises like a car that was made to tackle the Autobahn. They’re also bulletproof. I know people want the N57 I-6, but trust me. The N47 is a better motor. You can also make about 250hp and 400ft-lb with a simple computer tune. I just did a quick autotempest search. There are about 47 328d up for sale right now, only 9 of which are wagons. Get them while you can folks!
Zack, You may be too young to remember the halcyon days before DIESELGATE when grown men would have a tear in their eye dreaming about those unobtainable, 'clean', European Diesels which could miraculously achieve 50 mpg and 150 mph. Too bad the 'nerds' at West Virginia University left the lab, took some Diesels on a road trip and busted the biggest automotive myth of the early 21st century. For the record, the best station wagon ever is the 1968-1972 Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser with a Rocket V8 and TH 400 transmission with honorable mentions going to the Mercury Colony Park, Volvo 245 as well as most RWD Toyota wagons with inline 6s bolted to manual gearboxes. With an open mind, I am willing to entertain the possibility the upcoming Crown Signia may some day enter the pantheon of wonderful wagons.🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
@@xFactoryUSA What is a "true driver"? What's the purity test? Top speed isn't everything, sometimes you want the engagement of rowing your own gears. I don't care if the automatic may be three tenths of a second around a track, I'd rather have a manual.
@@bwofficial1776 I’m talking about getting smoked off the line, and particularly if your city has extremely wide streets with 55mph on suburb side streets. But then again if you have access to windy roads then that’s another sub set of needs. Daily to work, maybe not so much rowing everyday
I have the straight 6 version of this car here in Germany. I can cruise on the Autobahn at 120 mph and it’s still kinda fuel efficient compared to a gasoline 340i. Gasoline is way more expensive than Diesel here so a lot of people like the straight 6 Diesels here.
BMW wagons ❤ I live in Amsterdam and have a G21 330i touring and absolutely love it. I Wouldn’t mind the 340d that is sold here in Europe (inline 6 diesel) but diesels are losing popularity here in Europe. Wish BMW wagons were still sold in North America! I guess there’s hope for the 5 series
It's a shame BMW's wagons never caught on in the US. Wagons are practical and drive nice. It's also a shame BMWs aren't known for reliability, besides the iDrive this one's suspension looks like it needs to be fixed. Diesel cars could be good if diesel wasn't $1 more per gallon and didn't require DPF, taking away all the fuel economy savings.
You'd really like a 335d if you're impressed by the engine in that. I have one and you're free to drive it if you're ever in Arizona. Just submitted it.
40k 2018 328d xdrive I got the dreaded P02D3 check engine light on my drive home today. Basically injector 4 is either shitting the bed or I should disconnect the battery and see if I can clear the code manually. My OBD2 reader would not clear it, and I don’t have many other options other than taking it into the dealership. This is my second 328d and the first problem I have encountered with this engine. Does anyone have any advice on what I could do before I take it to the Stealership?
The first diesel cars available here in the US were slow and stinky. Now they are fast and expensive. I guess we missed the middle ground lol.
Slow and stinky is not gonna give you headaches

I had an 845 524TD, it was the best car ever, handeling was supherb.
1985 that is
VW Jetta and Passats with the 1.9L TDI engines! Absolute middle ground!
The Chevy Cruze diesel engine was actually made in Germany, too. It was an Opel engine, back when GM still owned Opel.
Such a shape the rest of the car is so shitty

They also put that engine in the Equinox and the GMC Terrain for a few years.

ill take two please
Id love one 😭

MotorWeek would complain about the lack of voltmeter or oil pressure gauges.
And that it’s not an M model
This car is everything my e90 335i Msport xdrive isn't, darn you Zack! Great review Thanks
Wish wish wish we got a 6 cylinder diesel bmw here
We did; e90’s and E70s came with them as the 335d and X5 35d
They sold I think less than 300 2018 540d in the USA. I want one of those things so bad.
The 2014-2016 535d as well
I own a 17 328d wagon. absolutely love it.
Well, Zack, that wagon/estate lacks one important thing for any true driver - manual gearbox.
Any true driver can can appreciate a transmission that puts power down better than a manual
If this is the ZF 8-speed then it is still a great transmission. Especially considering that these didn't come with a manual option.

These didnt come with a manual in the US market
Good stuff. I like your enthusiasm. I have a 328d sedan and so far love it.
Great review! I believe these are badged as a 320d in the UK (we did get 30d & 35d too)
I love my‘17 F31 N47 M-Sport in Estoril Blue👍
This car seems so cool. But I love wagons. A manual version would be a straight up unicorn of cars.
If this had an M57 and a 6 speed manual I would agree.

I envy Europe for manual diesel wagons
How does this compare to the 2013 audi allroad? Great vid
Sweet!

The only bmw I'd like to have + being roomy
That BMW needs fake Wood on both sides!
This is not an F80….. it’s a F31
Far from quick, you need to drive a 335d!
