On "My Car Story" we're in the Western Suburbs of Chicago IL on 6-18-24.
We're looking at a 1962 Ford Galaxie 4 Door in Black / White Paint.
The car comes with the inline 6-cylinder engine and an automatic transmission.
The car's Owner is Dino Pelafas. Dino’ had this car since 2017. He shares he’s a big Fan of the Andy Griffith Show so when he found this car he wanted this one for his collection. It’s his favorite car, and he shares this car brings “Enthusiasm” because it appeals to the young and old.

Fantastic Lou. This was and still is my favorite tv show. I still love watching it and still laugh every time. Nothing but great actors and actresses in that show. Kudos to the gentleman who owns it now. I don’t think you can top this one Lou. 👍👍

I love the Andy griffith show! I've seen just about every episode of the black and white seasons on MeTv! I love the inclusions of the the fishing poles and the Aunt Bee picnic basket, great touch's👌. I've always loved vintage police cars, they just have a charm to them. The old mars light and that classic siren sound just brings out my inner kid! This I love even more it being an Andy Griffith show car! I'm you Lou with hearing that Barney Fife theme seeing it drive as well as hearing him hollering "Mayberry unit 1" over the radio 🤣. Great video Lou!

Love it Lou! After retiring from law enforcement, we visited Mt Airy, NC in 2009. I was allowed to check out the 1964 Ford Galaxie patrol car. That was a treat!

When I was seven years old in the summer of '67 Dad purchased a Country Sedan wagon from Courtesy Ford in Chicago.
They used the exact same badge on the two way tail gate...

Is still a very cool car still looks pretty good that's nice to see all the lights and Sirens still work along with the radio and the scanner I still catch clips of the show every now and then😊

Fantastic video! Great car. This is only one of many cars used on the show. The cars were provided by Ford, and the car used was from the current model year for the season being filmed. The show ran from October 3, 1960, to April 1, 1968. I don't know if they had an episode using the patrol car in every season, but I do remember seeing a 61, 63, and a 64 on the show as well as this 62. It would be quite a collection if someone were to obtain a car from each year. However, I doubt all of them still exist.

@@johnjuarez8005 According to Wikipedia the 223 CID 6-cyl had 145 HP in 1962. The 223 CID engine was first used in 1954, and was used for Ford’s F-100 pickup truck and in Ford’s cars.
If you're ever in north central North Carolina check out a town called Mount Airy, it's the real Mayberry and the downtown is still the same as the show. There's a statue of Andy and the REAL Mayberry Sheriff's car in front of the Sheriff's Office. Pilot Mountain aka Mount Pilot is just south aways down US 52 and they have a car show every week from April through November called Hot Cars Hot Nights. My friends and I rode our bikes to that area a lot when I lived in the state.
Like I said Lou, check out the area, you will find a lot of cars to feature.

I visited Mt. Airy and got my picture taken with the '63 Galaxie squad car, in front of the courthouse. 😊 We also hiked Pilot Mountain, er ...Mt. Pilot? It looks like a giant cake from a distance.

The engine is a 223 I6 standard on all Galaxie exc Falcon Lou. A really nice car at that But I do not remember the red flashing light on the front when I looked at the show's reruns. Nice Video Lou, cool car.

Hey big bro LOU! LMAO 🤣🤪hilariously awesome, man! OH BOY. POW!! SOCK!! This Squad car takes me right back to my delinquent days as a goofy and wise ass working class teenage boy JV baseball lightweight jock in highschool, sniffing around WAAAY too many girls whose Dad's were cops lol 😂🤪!! And presto! a cop walks in frame with me knocked out 😵😵and slung over his left shoulder (I'm a total one shoulder carry), my now limp tube sock baseball stockinged calves and feet swaying in time to his steps as he dumps me in the backseat! HA! You look up and effortlessly catch my floppy sneakers (a la my hero Robin Yount) which are just now landing, 5 minutes after he knocked me out lol😜😵. This Galaxie cop car just makes me wanna whistle the theme song to "The Andy Griffith Show", which I do (very well, actually 😉) regularly and drive my friends and family crazy! All-American joy right there, Lou-and I am sure Dino has the car in films and such. It just makes folks smile, even a recovering delinquent like me lol 😇😜. Is this one "for real" or an adaptation? I'd kind of like to know its history if it was indeed used on Andy Griffith/Mayberry RFD shows. Sometimes the studios would "recycle" them, repaint, repurpose. This goes back to a time in Hollywood when there was no respect for history or to think about keeping something that may some day be of retro-interest. Was this car sold "as is" by the studio somewhere along the line, passed from owner to owner, fell into disrepair and then restored? Enquiring/Inquiring minds want to know, Lou!
There was no paperwork regarding authenticity, so not sure.

@@loucostabile... A collector here in Vail had a '60s police car very similar. . This goes back 15 or so years... When the H.S. dance was over ... he'd fetch his twin daughters at curbside driving the vintage police car... Too funny. ..

This car is a tribute and was probably built with a six. The "too fast for Barny" is a joke.
The car wasn't a police/taxi package. It appears to have been made into a police vehicle. The 223ci was the base engine for that year in the full size Ford. Most '62 Ford Galaxie's used the V8 that was available in the 292ci 352ci or 390ci. Knew a fellow that had a '62 Galaxie with the 223 hooked to a three speed standard/OD.
