    Wow impressive. Left foot braking, double pump for the brakes after long straight and bliping while downshift. Very old school technique. Usually seen done by the old generation Japanese racer. Its rare to see these anymore as technology has taken over all these. Launch control, auto blip, abs, brake bias. So what the driver has is pure skill and experience instead of money. These techniques take a gd few yrs to learn. But its joy to see as these r like arts that u dun see so often anymore.

    • @sneugler
      @sneugler 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's for two mains reasons. One, is to check if the brakes are still working before going into a corner, preventing an accident. The second point was made by +EvanTFullerton, saying that "The main reason is to take up the pad knock back. Sliding calipers in particular that most production cars run flex a lot as do the suspension components in a racing environment which cause the rotor to push the pads back quite a bit. Riding a lot of curbs exacerbates the issue so a quick pump of the brakes before the braking zone reseats the pad against the rotor and restores the normal brake pedal level. If you don't do this, you get a longer pedal then normal and if you get any brake fade towards the end of a long hard braking zone, the pedal can wind up on or near the floor". Hope this helps.

      Testing the brakes. You see a lot of rally drivers use this as well. Pretty much they are seeing if they still have optimal braking before they have to brake hard before a turn. Would kind suck to find out last minute that you don't have any brakes.

    • @rotrxentertainment5817
      @rotrxentertainment5817 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Rally drivers actually do this more for testing the road surface, but same principle.

      To make sure there was plenty of brake pressure, and also keep the system pressurised. Becomes a bit of a habit

    • @ray-Bolantah
      @ray-Bolantah 7 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      He's not doing it to scare others away, he's not doing it to test his brake to see if they work or not ( in case they didn't respond, what is he going to do? Crash into the wall a iguess) and he's definitely not testing the surface.
      They do this in all professional production car racing. And it's because pads get slightly out of place due to vibration of the car. And if you go right ahead and push all the way when they're out of place you might end up braking with just a tip of the pad. So they wanna pump it into place so the face of the pad lays evenly on the disk and then go for the hard brake. And there you go.

    • @droceretik
      @droceretik 7 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Pad knock back. Cornering forces, bearing play and mechanical flex pushes the pads back away from the rotors so the brake response is not instantaneous. It may not always be required but becomes it a habit before braking at the end of the longest straight. It could mean the difference between hitting the wall and not, especially on a street circuit like Adelaide where impacting lots of curbs can also cause the pistons & pads to drift away from the disks.

    • @Dnice8363
      @Dnice8363 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Helps build up the fluid so he gets a better breaking feel. As the breaks get hotter its needed more and more otherwise he might just get the pedal to the floor and slam the wall.

    Man what a great battle with the AE86. If only your power to weight was even you would have easily beat him. You sir got skills.

    I think the Evo and Corolla have more horse power but its all about the driver and Jordan knows his lines. AMAZING.

  • @Kevin.Savoie

    If only the back straight had a chicane. That Hachi has MASSIVE straight speed. It's just hearth breaking to not be able to defend against him AT ALL. I hate Honda's and drive a GT86 and I still pull for ya. Hope you hit a track less power hungry to stomp them all.

      morbo123456 The AE86 was actually in a higher class as well, the Civic still got first in class, this was a battle for overall first.

  • @djhonda355
    @djhonda355 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Mate, you got what it takes. Great driving!
    Is k20 a no go because K series wasn't originally mounted in eg? Displacement wise you'd still be under 2000cc and more power and torque than from b20 plus 6gears. Cheers and keep them coming mate!

    Excellent race driving👌👍👍🤘!! I don't know if you're allowed to tweak the gearbox with longer gears in Improved Production but a little more top speed on the straights wouldn't hurt I presume🕵️💪😊

    @11:35
    How are you so much faster than the other car? :o
    You're definitely much faster around the corners but I don't understand why, is there that big of a weight difference?
    You're restricted on the straights because of shorter gearing (?), is that what gives you an advantage in the corners?
    Or is it all down to driver technique?
    P.S. pls pardon my ignorance, I'm genuinely trying to understand racing and driving dynamics :)

      Part of it is the incredible suspension setup of the car, they did an amazing job tuning it. It can soak up curbs and rumble strips unbelievable well. Driver talent and confidence in the car as well without a doubt. Just brilliant harmony between car and driver.

  • @sillieww

    Anybody can go fast in a straight line but takes skills in the corners and Jordan Cox has skills.

    Why does he sometimes tap the brakes before the actual breaking point? Is it to confuse the driver behind?

    • @gregfarmer8448
      @gregfarmer8448 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      To bring the pads and line pressure up for heavy braking. Caliper pistons retract slightly in their bore. A tap of the pedal brings the piston back up for a more solid brake application.

    Can someone explain why he pumps the brakes while smashing the gas?

  • @NMamoru
    @NMamoru 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    In long straight line, why did he kept pressing brake like 2-3 times before he shifts? instead of doing that, wouldn't heel and toe be faster ?

    What suspension setup is on this car? It just absorbs the curbs so well!

    • @droceretik
      @droceretik 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Heasman Steering did the suspension. They are in Tempe, a southern suburb of Sydney. When I drive past there there are often a lot of exotic and high performance cars being worked on. My guess is they are good judging by Jordan's Civic. Probably well outside my budget for my old Ford Futura (:
      I'm happy enough watching young Mr Cox. I'd be surprised if he didn't graduate to a contracted drive soon.

  • @SolidSith
    @SolidSith 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    why do you pump/tap the brakes two or three time at WOT just before you brake on the straights? is it no brake booster and to pressurize the lines or just testing the brakes
