This Trilogy is a masterpiece. Hope Ms Mantel wins Booker Prize for the 3rd time.

The Mirror and the Light is 700+ pages of spellbinding historical fiction which propels you back into Tudor times even deeper than the first two books. The whole of the trilogy is an absolute triumph.

It did the same for me. It ended up my favourite and was very sad when I finished reading it.

I read it in three days and we ate take-away on all those days. Poignantly, achingly beautiful and so gripping. Thanks, 4th Estate.#waitwasworthit

She moved me to tears: I wish I could find such a delicate woman like her.

One of the most wonderful authors! I am so very sad to hear of her death. May Lord Jesus and all the heavenly host grant Hilary perfect peace and eternal happiness. Message to Thomas Cromwell; if you’re around up there ( debatable ) - go find this truly gifted and amazing woman and bloody well explain yourself!
God speed to this genius of literary inspiration. We are so lucky that Hilary has left us such a fabulous body of work for the nation to treasure. x

Those chilling opening sentences read by the author! I had this book on my shelf from the library from March 10, 2020 to the first week of June when the library reopened during the pandemic. The book came out just before lockdown in the US. I was so upset by its presence on my bookshelf for 3 months of lockdown, unable to rid myself of it, its foreign presence in my home. When the library chute opened on June 9, I immediately threw the book down the chute and away from me. It was that upsetting.

Why the 3rd book never won the Man Booker is a mystery. R.I. P Hilary Mantel. I loved the Wolf Hall Trilogy.

I only have this book, not the other two,
Will it make somewhat sense if i read this only?

You'd lose a lot, but I assume it's possible if you have some prior knowledge of henry the 8th's court. I would always suggest reading the other two first, they're incredible books.

Brutal coniving times when ones in the close warmth and protection of the sun verged on being burnt alive
