Idle sounds perfect to me. That's like when people idle street bikes at 2500 RPM when most owners manuals say between 1050-1150.

Yup. Still tho. Having it idle so high is probably good for supercross, but nothing else. Easier to rev up mid-corner I’m assuming.

I've never heard of setting the idle that much higher .. and how that would help in motocross? It wouldent. Idle speed is idle speed nothing else it doesnt dictate how it rides under throttle and gear that's completely trash.

I loved those 2002-2006 Honda 450Rs. I had a 89 Suzuki 250R QuadRacer bored out 70 over & then bought a 2003 TRX Honda 450R & my buddy had a Polaris Predator 500! Those days were great!🤟🔥

The bike sounds like it could’ve died after the last rev but idle came back. Maybe turn it up a little bit so it don’t die when it’s hot
I think the owner was adjusting that on his side when the sound changed. Owner adjusted the choke
@@philipdennis5020 they started it with the Choke on that’s why it bogged out at high rpm. He turned the choke off and revved it again then it almost died when it came back to idle. It needs to be upped a little bit or when it’s hot it’ll die.

Personally I wouldn’t get any of these 450s older then I think 2008 because I’m pretty sure pre 2008 versions were carbureted but the newer fuel injected ones are way better. Just my opinion of having to ride and service these bikes.
My 07 ltr 450 was fuel injected, was pretty awesome but seemed very high maintenance

I would ideally want the choke set to where you get instant throttle response as you hit the throttle. So it doesn’t bog when you snatch the throttle back
No. Ideally you want your machine tuned right to run with the choke completely off
That's called fuel injection, which honda did not use.
