    I knew I saw this a long while ago, but I couldn't remember where. I wasn't ready to tackle the skirt idea I had in my head.
    But now I am there and just about to panic searching all day. If my back wasn't hurting, I would have jumped up and down, danced, and whoop and hollered. Never mind the neighbors, I needed help and you saved my sanity because I wasn't sure anymore that I had not imagined this tutorial!
    Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

      You're a genius! Lol I was about to do some crazy business cutting first then struggling to hem
      Follow up question though, I have a dress that's a stretchy lighter fabric - but no extra fabric for the rectangle. Options... I have a non-stretchy but light uh kinda taffeta fabric? Or a thicker but stretchy fabric. Do you have thoughts on which would work best?
      (Or option 3, I go to Joann's for whatever they have in stock that's closer to the dress fabric weight/stretchiness) I hate sewing stretchy fabric but I'm a monster who keeps telling myself it's fine lol

    • @carolssewingcorner
      @carolssewingcorner  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Use a fabric close to the skirt. If its stretch use stretch. Get yourself a stretch needle, increase the stitch length to 3. and you should be good to go!

    Hi Carol, thanks for this video. I have a long black satin dress which has a separate inner black satin lining and I need to put in a front split (just like your video instruction). Do I follow the same process, but use the black satin lining as the backing fabric, stitch on the V, cut on centre line, turn it out and finish with a top stitch and iron?

    • @carolssewingcorner
      @carolssewingcorner  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Use the sane process, but i would baste the dress and lining together and treat them as one. Proceed with a separate piece of black fabric to complete the process. Use organza, batiste or silk organza to keep the alteration lightweight.

    • @carolssewingcorner
      @carolssewingcorner  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can visit your local fabric store or recycle an old piece of clothing for your fabric piece. Make sure the fabric is the same as skirt. If the skirt is stretch, your added piece should stretch as well. Let your fingers do the talking when you compare fabrics. Touch and stretch! Go with your gut.

    Made a mistake along with turning my jumpsuit into a dress or turning a trousers into a skirt.. could i use the same method you used or how do i do that same method to make the beautiful split or hoochy 😂 split. It looks so clean and nice once you've turned it the right way and top stitch each side.
