Fantastic work, Jeremy!!! Those Alco's are running better than I would have ever thought you could get them to run. Thanks for showing the differences between the two and for sharing another project with us. Very motivational stuff for those of us that look for "rusty gold" every flea market and garage sale we come across.
As always Jermey thank you for sharing your hobbies with us all. I'm sure someone somewhere will find this extremely helpful in their searches for answers or help getting their own trains rolling. 👍❤😊👍
I have the ALCO 225 and runs great in reverse but sluggish in forward. I found out after a minute of running the rollers on the bottom gets hot! I cleaned everything with new brushes and can not figure out why it won’t run forward and only runs good reversed. The reverse switch looks like it was new, not rusty at all. It’s got me baffled.
If you have the older style chassis that has the ball bearing in that bottom plastic - try a shim on the side of it. Check out this video I did and let me know what you think? th-cam.com/video/JHNzyPo5BSA/w-d-xo.html
Excellent repair job, Jeremy! It’s amazing how well both of those locomotives are running. 👍
This was a fun one. Turned way better than I thought it would.

HaHa, Rusty gold is what I like Thanks for the great comment.
Great job Jeremy! They work beautifully now. 2 different generations fixed and repaired properly. Now you have 2 great runners for a very long time!
Much appreciated Tom. The newer chassis is having issues reversing. But I don't mind seeing what could be the issue 😁
My Mo Pac FA has that additional piece as well.
very cool. Apparently it is a rare one if it is painted blue and the lower thin plastic piece has been removed (by the factory).
Missed this one til now but great job as always Jeremy
They turned out way better then I expected!
Great work as always
Thanks Paul, the older chassis really surprised me.
Some later MPC FAs have twin DC can motors with a circuit board containing rectifiers for AC operation
It impresses me how much life Lionel has gotten out of this model and the many changes it has gone through over the years.

That's my goal Jim You are most welcome, glad you like the videos.
Well done.
Thanks! A nice relatively quick project.
